In order to generate a group secret key in the multiuser network, we propose an algorithm through all users' collaboration and using the wireless signal strength. Three specific investigations are conducted hereby. First, we explore a pair-wise shared secret key in two-user communication by the Received Signal Strength (RSS) including Cascade reconciliation and the Merkle-Damgard hash function. Second, we generate a group secret key and distribute the key to all users. Third, we analyze the network size in the mobile and static scenarios. Through our experiments, we validate security of the algorithm of shared keys. The advantage of the proposed method lies in the legitimate channel over eavesdropping channel. Under different situations such as different velocities or sites (indoor and outdoor), we obtain the relationship of Group Key Generation Rate (GKGR) and the probing rate. We also estimate the Key Agreement Ratio (KAR) to demonstrate the method's applicability. © 2012 IEEE.

Power system transient behavior is subject to impact of several types of damping. Based on the Weierstrass approximation theorem, a numerical method is proposed to calculate the damping torque and damping coefficient of power system described by detailed model, no matter that the post-fault system is stable or not. Investigation on the single-machine-infinite-bus system discloses the transient damping with different generator parameters relative to transient losses, load condition and modeling hypotheses. The result indicates that, for the studied system, neglecting armature resistance, or neglecting the rate of change of flux terms and rotor speed deviation in armature voltage calculation may cause the average damping coefficient approaching zero. The torque-speed characteristics and network transients have very small influence on average transient damping. The work helps to identify the main factor that affects transient behaviors and provide evidence for reasonable modeling hypothesis and model selection in transient stability assessment.

In recent years many works related to the design of block-based transceivers have been published. The main target of this research activity is to optimize the use of the spectral resources in broadband transmissions. A possible way to address this problem is to reduce the amount of redundancy required by block transmissions to avoid interblock interference. An efficient solution is to employ zero-padding zero-jamming (ZP-ZJ) transceivers, which allow the transmission with reduced redundancy. ZP-ZJ systems have been successfully employed in the context of linear transceivers. This paper shows how the ZP-ZJ concept can be applied in decisionfeedback equalization. Some performance analyses based on the resulting mean-square error and error probability of symbols are included to show the possible degrading effects of the reduction in the amount of redundancy. Nevertheless, simulation results illustrate that data throughput and average mutual information between transmitted and estimated symbols can be enhanced significantly without affecting the system performance, for a certain level of signal-tonoise ratio at the receiver.

The Audio and Video Bridging (AVB) technology equips Ethernet with Real-Time characteristics, based on standards developed by IEEE 802.1. In 2011, the IEEE 802,1 AVB Task group completed the first generation of AVB Standards, and is currently starting standardization work on AVB Generation 2, aimed at Industrial automation & Control networks, as well as Automotive networks. One aspect of this standardization effort is to adapt AVB stream reservation mechanisms to operate with industrial-standard fault tolerance technologies. This paper proposes a method to allow AVB to be used flexibly with different use-cases and different stream configuration mechanisms to achieve fault-tolerance. The method has been verified through simulation and has been proposed to the AVB task group for inclusion into the 2nd Generation AVB standards.

It is common practice for requirements traceability research to consider method call dependencies within the source code (e.g., fan-in/fan-out analyses). However, current approaches largely ignore the role of data. The question this paper investigates is whether data dependencies have similar relationships to requirements as do call dependencies. For example, if two methods do not call one another, but do have access to the same data then is this information relevant? We formulated several research questions and validated them on three large software systems, covering about 120 KLOC. Our findings are that data relationships are roughly equally relevant to understanding the relationship to requirements traces than calling dependencies. However, most interestingly, our analyses show that data dependencies complement call dependencies. These findings have strong implications on all forms of code understanding, including trace capture, maintenance, and validation techniques (e.g., information retrieval).

This paper aims to find a new technique to predict the state of health of power converters by characterizing the most vulnerable components in the converter without affecting the normal circuit operation. Spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (SSTDR) can detect most of the aged components inside the converter while the converter is operational. Semiconductor switches and electrolytic capacitors are the two most sensitive components in power converter circuits, and this paper demonstrated how SSTDR can be used to determine the degradation of these components. Multiple sets of test data have been generated while the SSTDR process is applied to the power MOSFETs, IGBTs connected in a chopper circuit and to the aluminum electrolytic capacitors connected in an RC circuit. Analysis is done on these obtained test data to show how the SSTDR generated data are consistent with the aging of power MOSFETs, IGBTs and electrolytic capacitors.

This paper proposes an iterative Correlation-based Tuning (CbT) algorithm which guarantees the control system stability throughout the iterations. The new algorithm is based on a Robbins-Monro procedure which ensures the iterative tuning of controller parameters such that to minimize a cost function expressed as the squared sum of the cross-correlation function between the output error and the reference input. The control system stability is tested using the coprime factor uncertainty of the controller, and the small gain theorem for discrete-time systems is applied. Nonparametric frequency domain models are employed in the calculation of the bounds on systems' gains. A case study concerning the speed control of a nonlinear servo system is included to validate the new stable CbT algorithm, and experimental results are given.

The multilevel modular capacitor clamped dc-to-dc converter (MMCCC) topology is completely modular and belongs to two-phase switched capacitor converter group. The conversion ratio of an ideal MMCCC converter in step-up mode is an integer and depends on the number of modules used. For a k-module MMCCC, the maximum up-conversion ratio is (k+1), and it has already been shown in literature that different integer conversion ratios can be achieved by changing the active number of modules of an MMCCC. In this paper, different methods are proposed for MMCCC in order to achieve fractional conversion ratios (CR) in step-up mode without changing the complementary two-phase switching orientation. Fractional CRs can be obtained in several switched-capacitor circuits at the cost of significantly lower efficiency. However, MMCCC with the aid of a new pulse dropping technique can produce fractional CR while maintaining high efficiency. The variation in efficiency and equivalent resistance as a function of frequency has been analyzed in this paper. Simulation and experimental results using a reconfigurable 5-module MMCCC prototype have been used to validate the new control scheme.

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms with multiple autonomous robots have received considerable attention in recent years. In general, SLAM algorithms use odometry information and measurements from exteroceptive sensors of robots. The accuracy of these measurements and the performance of the corresponding SLAM algorithm directly affect the overall success of the system. This paper presents comparative performance evaluations of three Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms using Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), Compressed Extended Kalman Filter (CEKF) and Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF). Specifically, it focuses on their SLAM performances and processing time requirements. To show the effect of CPU power on the processing time of SLAM algorithms, two notebooks and a netbook with different specifications have been used. Comparative simulation results show that processing time requirements are consistent with the computational complexities of SLAM algorithms. The results we obtained are consistent with the CPU power tests of independent organizations and show that higher processing power decreases processing time accordingly. The results also show that CEKF is more suitable for outdoor SLAM applications where there are a lot of natural and artificial features.
