This paper deals with the problem of designing a distributed fault detection and isolation methodology for nonlinear discrete-time dynamical systems that are modelled as the interconnection of several subsystems. The subsystems are allowed to overlap, thus sharing some state components. For each subsystem, a Local Fault Diagnoser is designed, based on the measured local state of the subsystem as well as the transmitted variables of neighboring states that define the subsystem interconnections. The local diagnostic decision is made on the basis of the knowledge of the local subsystem dynamic model and of an adaptive approximation of the interconnection with neighboring subsystems. A Global Fault Diagnoser is introduced to isolate distributed faults that cannot be isolated locally. The use of a specially-designed consensus-based estimator is proposed in order to improve the detectability and isolability of faults affecting variables shared among different subsystems. Simulation results are utilized to illustrate of the effectiveness of the proposed distributed fault diagnosis methodology.

This paper focuses on the controllability of multiagent systems with tree topology. The connection on controllability/uncontrollability between a single leader and multiple leaders is revealed, as well as the relationship between controllability and the common eigenvalues of components is analyzed. After that, a constructive approach is outlined to find out various uncontrollable subgraphs when the whole interconnection tree graph is uncontrollable, and a necessary and sufficient condition is presented for multi-agent controllability with tree topology.

In 3DICs heat dissipating devices are stacked directly on top of each other leading to a higher heat density than in a comparable 2D chip. 3D integration also moves the majority of active devices further away from the heatsink. This results in a degraded thermal path which makes it more challenging to remove heat from the active devices. Gradient HeatWave-3DIC was used to perform an appropriate 3D thermal analysis on a 1024-point, memory-on-logic 3DIC FFT processor for synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The chip was simulated with a spatial resolution of 80 nm, and was modeled to include the effect of each line of interconnect, as well as each via and fill structure exactly as drawn in the layout. Large isolated temperature spikes were found near groups of clock buffers at the edge of the SRAMs on the middle tier. The effect of reordering the stackup of memory and logic tiers has been investigated. It was found that placing the memory tier closer to the heatsink improved not only the thermal profile of the memories but also of the logic tiers. Temperature spikes in the memories no longer significantly impacted the logic tiers, yielding a design where the thermal profile of the tiers were significantly less dependent on each other.

Since emerged in 2004, Unified Threat Management (UTM) has been used widely to enhance network security protection. Typical UTM device integrates multiple security technologies, therefore its control and management involves various interfaces, message formats, communication protocols, and security policies and so on. Therefore, it is a big challenge to design and implement the configuration and management of security technologies in UTM. To address this issue, this paper proposes a practical UTM control mechanism that features ease-to-use, scalability, interoperability, highefficiency and reliability. The solution, called UTMConfiguration and Management (UTM-CM), has been implemented and its performance was evaluated. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper deals with the topic of qLPV state-space model based control design in which LMIs are used to optimize the multi-objective control performance. In this paper we investigate how the manipulation convex hull of the polytopic model influences the control performance which is derived by LMIs. We examine these influences through the control design of the two dimensional aeroelastic system's example. First we define various TP type polytopic model representations of a wing section whose vertices define different convex hulls. In the second step we investigate how these models lead to different control performances.

In this paper, an optimized fractional order conditional integrator (OFOCI) is proposed. The key feature of this OFOCI is that, the fractional order alpha and the parameter k for the "hold" value in the course of integration can be tuned following the analytical optimality design specifications, to achieve the optimized performance not achievable using integer order conditional integrators. The proposed optimality specifications are given to satisfy the desired phase delay, and minimize the preferred magnitude ratio, which can be calculated from the high order harmonic magnitudes divided by the magnitude of the fundamental wave. The numerical solution of calculating the optimized parameters alpha and k of the OFOCI is introduced. The phase delays and magnitude ratios of four designed OFOCIs are compared with the integer order conditional integrators. Simulation results with the FFT spectra are also presented to validate the theoretical analysis.

Lyapunov-stable nonlinear plants can be approximated by an LTI model in many cases. If this approximation is obtained then it is possible to construct a G2DOF control system. The paper presents a new approach how the important relationships between the actuator, process and design parameters furthermore robustness measures can be determined. In this decomposition method the optimal control design for two-degree of freedom time delay control systems is discussed. Using a proper CAD algorithm the exact relationships can be plotted and the ultimate robustness limit of any control can be explicitly calculated.

In this paper we analyze stability properties of multi-agent control system in a cluttered environment with an artificial potential based on bell-shaped functions. In our approach attractive and repulsive forces created by potential gradient have the same form which allows definition of target formation that is parameter invariant. Due to the fact that agents are identical, the proposed structure of formation potential is invariant to the interchange of agents configurations, hence, target in which particular agent would eventually end up, depends only on formation initial condition and environment structure (obstacles). We show that position of unwanted stable equilibria can be controlled by parameters that define elementary potential functions. This fact has been used for synthesis of an adaptation algorithm, such that arrival of agents at required formation is guarantied. Simulation results, presented at the end of the paper, confirm correctness of the proposed control scheme.
