This study uses a novel method of segmenting and computing the tissue area in brain MRI images to predict the presence of brain tumors and classify the type of tumor into common types (pituitary, meningioma, and glioma). The tissues that make up the brain have intricate boundaries. In order to more accurately classify the different types of tumors, we have thus divided the brain tissues into three segments and examined for enlarged segments using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and a Modified CNN that uses transfer learning and VGGNet. The paper’s methodology involves using CNNs with Transfer Learning for efficient image segmentation and clustering, followed by VGGNet for noise reduction and image segmentation refining. We are optimizing the internal parameters of VGGNet in order to outperform the competition. The volume and density of malignant clusters are computed through pixel counting. This kind of method works pretty well for figuring out tissue volume in a wide range of illnesses that affect people of all ages.

A phased array equipped with double phase shifters (DPS) can reduce interference and enable multi-target vital sign monitoring (VSM) based on a single receive antenna. The DPS-phased array can control both the magnitude and the phase of the signal transmitted by each antenna, allowing for flexibly creating a desired beampattern. We consider the DPS-phased array weight design problem, taking into account practical constraints on the phase shifters, such as deviations from the nominal phases and insertion loss. The weights of practical phase shifters are selected so that the resulting DPS-phased array performs as close as possible to an ideal beamformer and transmits maximum power in the desired direction. The proposed design’s effectiveness is demonstrated in experiments where the transmit power is focused on a specific human target to monitor corresponding vital signs. Simultaneously, an adjacent but unwanted human target is effectively nullified.

Floods can have significant life-threatening and economic impacts on human societies. Flood forecasting with data-driven methods is a crucial aspect of disaster risk management, providing valuable insights into potential flood events and allowing for timely mitigation measures. This work illustrates the application of a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network for short-term forecasting of a river's water level. The water treatment data used for training the LSTM models were gathered from Sperchios river, located in central Greece. Historical time-series data in a half-hour interval of the river's water level, water velocity, and area precipitation were utilized for the development of the proposed scheme. The developed model is deployed in the backend of a web application for half-hour ahead predictions of the river's water level that are visualized in the frontend. The post-analysis of the deployed forecasting model indicates that it consistently delivers forecasts with minimal error and demonstrates high accuracy in recent flood events.
