Aiming at the problem of leakage detection of seepage control geomembranes in landfills, a fully autonomous dipole method detection system based on a quadruped robot equipped with a dipole sensor is designed. The feasibility and superiority of using a quadruped robot are analyzed on the basis of the detection principle of the dipole method. Due to the problems existing in the process of upgrading the artificial static detection to autonomous dynamic detection, a dynamic detection method based on a quadruped robot is designed while the structure construction of the dipole method on the quadruped robot is completed. The experimental results show that the efficiency of geomembrane leakage detection can be improved with detection system method employed in this paper. © 2024 IEEE.

In case of a failure within the area of flexible low-frequency transmission lines, the power electronic devices (M3C) at both ends of the line limit the fault current, which causes the reduction of sensitivity of the traditional phasor-based line differential protection or even failure to operate. Based on the structure of a flexible low-frequency transmission system, the electrical characteristics of the line failures were analyzed, and a differential protection technology suitable for flexible low-frequency transmission lines was proposed based on the differential principle of sampling values. The low-frequency transmission line model was built in RTDS, and the method was verified to meet the protection requirements of flexible low-frequency transmission lines. © 2023 IEEE.

Digital-to-analogue converters (DACs) exhibit several non-ideal effects that deteriorate performance. Methods in feedback control can reduce such effects. Due to implementation limitations, the feedback signal in existing schemes is produced by open-loop observers, known as ΔΣ-modulation, that mitigate the observed adverse effects only partially. Measurement feedback can compensate for non-ideal behaviour and disturbances that are difficult to model. Learning control (LC) is introduced to overcome practical problems of measurement feedback in DACs, therewith omitting the need for accurate open-loop observers. Experimental results demonstrate a 95% improvement in RMS error when using LC with measurement feedback, compared to ΔΣ-modulation using observer feedback.

This paper discusses the H∞ consensus problem of leader-follower multi-agent systems. The controller for each agent is crafted to utilize comprehensive information from all connected agents, while an innovative event-triggered strategy is incorporated to minimize communication costs. Based on the Lyapunov function theory, an H∞ controller is proposed that can ensure both system stability and a prescribed disturbance attenuation level γ. Finally, a numerical example validated the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

The supercooled water droplets in the air will form a water film on the aircraft during flight, which will then form icing, which will have an impact on the aerodynamic performance of the aircraft and even endanger the flight safety. In this paper, based on the Eulerian Wall Films model, the partial wetting effect is introduced, and the water film flow on flat plates driven by airflow shear force is investigated. The flow behaviours of water film with different contact angles under different flow rates were explored through water film test. The effectiveness of the calculation method for water film flow characteristics in this paper was verified by comparison between numerical simulation and test records, which laid a foundation for the anti-icing calculation in subsequent studies. © The Institution of Engineering & technology 2024.

With the rapid growth of transportation passenger flow in recent years, the research direction of Virtual Coupling (V C) in railways has become hot. V C increases capacity by tracking shorter distances. The traditional train emergency braking (EB) model can no longer meet the high operating efficiency requirements of VC. VC urgently needs a more efficient safety EB model. Therefore, to improve efficiency, a measurement of the EB model's rationality is defined considering safety and efficiency. Based on the defined model measurement, an EB model optimization method and a new EB model are proposed. The new model is closer to the actual braking process of the train and ensures safety from the distance level. That is, the braking trajectory of the train calculated by the new model is closer to the actual braking trajectory of the train, and the two braking trajectories satisfy the specific safety constraints. Finally, the safety and efficiency of the new model were verified through simulation experiments. The new model can avoid train collisions during the entire EB process. Experimental results show that compared with the traditional old EB model of VC based on space-time interval [1], the new model's minimum safe distance (MSD) between two VC train units can be reduced by 39%. © 2024 IEEE.

Nonlinear ultrasonic guided waves technology has shown excellent application potential in the field of structural stress testing due to its unique nonlinear characteristics and long distance detection range. However, the diversity and complexity of effects about stress on different cumulative second harmonics constrain the development of related research. In this paper, a numerical study about the response Law of different cumulative second harmonics with stress is undertaken based on ABAQUS software. A plate finite element model is established and the corresponding simulation experiment is carried out. The simulation result demonstrates that the variation tendencies of different cumulative second harmonic modes with stress are different, and their relative nonlinear parameters are monotonically increasing or decreasing with the increase of tensile stress. Therefore, in the application of stress detection, it is essential to analyze the response law of the selected cumulative second harmonic mode with stress change in advance. The simulation method proposed in this paper is also applicable to other studies about nonlinear ultrasonic waves and has wide applicability. © 2023 IEEE.

Regularized methods have been widely applied to system identification problems without known model structures. This paper presents an infinite-dimensional sparse learning algorithm based on atomic norm regularization. Atomic norm regularization decomposes the transfer function into first-order atomic models and solves a group lasso problem that selects a sparse set of poles and identifies the corresponding coefficients. The difficulty in solving the problem lies in the fact that there are an infinite number of possible atomic models. This work proposes a greedy algorithm that generates new candidate atomic models maximizing the violation of the optimality conditions of the existing problem. This algorithm is able to solve the infinite-dimensional group lasso problem with high precision. The algorithm is further extended to reduce the bias and reject false positives in pole location estimation by iteratively reweighted adaptive group lasso and complementary pairs stability selection respectively. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm performs better than benchmark parameterized and regularized methods in terms of both impulse response fitting and pole location estimation.

Poisson distribution model is the basis of data analysis for GM-APD lidar, but it is only applicable to the mirror reflected target under ideal conditions, and cannot accurately describe the photon triggering process of actual GM-APD lidar detection. For the actual target with rough surface, the negative binomial distribution with M as the parameter can describe the photon distribution model more accurately. In order to solve this problem, this paper compares and analyzes Poisson distribution triggering model and the negative binomial distribution triggering model that conforms to the triggering situation of the echo signal of the target with rough surface, considering the differences in the triggering probability under different noise and signal levels. The results show that the trigger probability curve corresponding to the trigger model based on negative binomial distribution is lower in peak value, wider in bottom value and fatter overall than that of the trigger model based on Poisson distribution, and the difference between the two is more prominent under the conditions of low noise level and high signal level. This study has guiding significance for the signal extraction research based on different surface echoes. © 2024 SPIE.
