Interacting with a random environment, Learning Automata (LAs) are automata that, generally, have the task of learning the optimal action based on responses from the environment. Distinct from the traditional goal of Learning Automata to select only the optimal action out of a set of actions, this paper considers a multiple-action selection problem and proposes a novel class of Learning Automata for selecting an optimal subset of actions. Their objective is to identify the optimal subset: the top k out of r actions. Based on conventional continuous pursuit and discretized pursuit learning schemes, this paper introduces four pursuit learning schemes for selecting the optimal subset, called continuous equal pursuit, discretized equal pursuit, continuous unequal pursuit and discretized unequal pursuit learning schemes, respectively. In conjunction with a reward-inaction learning paradigm, the above four schemes lead to four versions of pursuit Learning Automata for selecting the optimal subset. The simulation results present a quantitative comparison between them.

Research is done from the point of flight mechanics on Titan Aerobot. Consdering there are some errors in exstiong literatures on atmospheric temperature and density models for Titan, atmospheric environment model was built by polynomial fitting including temperature, density, pressure, viscosity and wind field models. The kinetic model of the airship was derived considering dynamic buoyancy effect, wind field disturbance and time varying mass characteristics. Also, repetitive calculation of Munk moment was avoided. Finally, after determining mass, inertia matrix, added mass tensor and apparent inertia tensor of LRC Titan Aerobot, the dynamic process is simulated by Matlab. Results shows that inertia aerodynamic force has significant influence on the airship motion and that repetitive calculation of Munk moment can produce wrong results.

Synchronization of neurons plays an important role in vision, movement and memory. However, many neurological disorders such as epilepsies, Parkinson disease and essen- tial tremor are related to excessive synchronization of neurons. In the line of therapy, stimulations to these pathologically synchronized neurons should be capable of breaking synchrony. As the first step of designing an effective stimulation, we consider desynchro- nization problem of coupled limit-cycle oscillators ensemble. First, the desynchronization problem is redefined in a nonlinear output regulation framework. Then, we design an output regulator (stimulation) which forces limit-cycle oscillators to track exogenous sinusoidal references with different phases. The proposed stimulation is robust against variations of oscillators' frequencies. Mathematical analysis and simulation results reveal the efficiency of the proposed technique.

This work is concerned with direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation of narrowband signals from multiple targets using a planar antenna array. We illustrate the shortcomings of Maximum Likelihood (ML), Maximum a Posteriori (MAP), and Minimum Mean Squared Error (MMSE) estimation, issues that can be attributed to the symmetry in the likelihood function that must exist when there is no information about labeling of targets. We proffer the recently introduced concept of Minimum Mean OSPA (MMOSPA) estimation that is based on the optimal sub-pattern assignment (OSPA) metric for sets and hence inherently incorporates symmetric likelihood functions.

The main enthusiasm of the use of MPC in this study relies on its ability in including state and control constraints that naturally comes up in practical problems. At the same time, nonlinearity of constraints compels the numerical solution of optimization problem. Therefore, a number of intelligent algorithms to overcome nonlinear optimization of the cost function is reviewed, however, their time consuming computations are considered as a dominant limitation. Meantime, due to its remarkable advantages, the motion control of Omni-directional mobile robot is handled by design of NMPC scheme. Furthermore, a novel kinematic model for the application of mobile robot is represented. As a demonstration for the proposed model, simulation results show that settling time is reduced 22% in comparison with ideal kinematic model and also the performance of the suggested control strategy shows its effectiveness in presence of disturbance and noise in all environments.

We consider the problem of multiple access communication with feedback, and show that the well known schemes of Ozarow and Kramer may be represented as feedback systems with a marginally unstable decoder. Other approaches represent these schemes as feedback systems with a strictly unstable encoder. Both approaches achieve the same rate of convergence, however the latter has a Bode sensitivity function which can be very large, indicating the potential for poor robustness and disturbance response.

This paper aims at deriving country-specific CO2 emission factors for fuels combusted in the Lithuanian energy sector. Rigorously assessed country-specific CO2 emission factors will contribute to accurate and reliable estimates of CO2 emissions. The paper presents the methods applied to derive country-specific CO2 emission factors together with their recommended values and uncertainties for various types of fuels. Analysis of the data provided by the plant operators participating under the European Union emission trading system and aggregation of the measurements results of the accredited research laboratories allowed to determine country-specific CO2 emission factors for the different types of fuels. Uncertainties of recommended CO2 emission factors were derived at a fuel type-specific level. It was set that recommended values of CO2 emission factors are within the uncertainty range of the IPCC default values. The application of determined country-specific CO2 emission factors in the Lithuanian energy sector increases accuracy and decreases uncertainty of the national greenhouse gas inventory.
