Modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM) is effective for helicopter satellite communications, where the rotor blades block the transmission channel pe-riodically. This paper addresses reducing peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) for MWHCDM, applying a selected mapping (SLM) method without side information, proposed for orthogonal frequecy division multiplexing (OFDM) previously, to MWHCDM. The SLM method is especially suitable for the primary modu-lation of quaternary phase-shift keying (QPSK), although the primary modulation of MWHCDM is binary phase-shift keying (BPSK). A novel multiplexing processing based on the structure of MWHCDM signals resolves this mismatch. In addition, introducing amplitude information to the evaluation function employed for blind estimation of phase sequence enhances the estimation performance. computer simulation shows that the proposed SLM method achieves excellent PAPR reduction and phase sequence estimation performance, causing no degradation in bit error rate (BER) performance. © 2024 IEEE.

In helicopter satellite communications, the periodic blockage (PB) of the transmission channel occurs due to rotor blades. Modified Walsh-Hadamard code division multiplexing (MWHCDM) is suitable for helicopter satellite communications because it has the anti-PB capability, corresponding to 2-branch time diversity. This paper proposes MWHCDM with enhanced anti-PB capability. The proposed MWHCDM implicitly performs 4-branch time diversity processing through multiplexing by trading off with spectral efficiency. computer simulations show that the proposed MWHCDM achieves excellent bit error rate (BER) performance close to the lower bound in the PB channel with zero-forcing (ZF) and minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection. As a result, the proposed MWHCDM outperforms the conventional MWHCDM and the simple (non-multiplexed) 4-branch time diversity. © 2024 IEEE.

Long Range (LoRa) networks are a reliable and efficient solution to serve Internet of Things (IoT) applications in a long range rural and forest areas. The capability of the gateways, both for wireless connection with the backbone network and be powered by renewable energy resources, makes possible the development of energy autonomous and without the need of cabling LoRa networks. This perspective greatly facilitates the network installation in hard-to-reach areas, as well as reducing their operating costs. An important obstacle, for the operation of energy autonomous LoRa networks, is the need for continuous operation of the gateways defined by the LoRaWAN protocol, leading to increased power consumption. For this reason, it is necessary the creation of a protocol that will reduce the energy consumption of the gateways, while maintaining the quality of the services provided in the IoT applications. In this paper we present a new hybrid protocol for energy autonomous and cable-less multi-gateway LoRa networks. The simulation results showed that the proposed protocol ensures a more than 50% reduced energy consumption for the gateways, as well as increased efficiency and reliability compared to the existing protocol, at the cost of slightly increased delay in data transmission. © 2023 IEEE.

Precision agriculture includes Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which focuses on preventing and controlling pests and diseases through a combination of biological, traditional, and chemical practices. An Intelligent Decision Support System (VELOS) was developed for plant protection in bean cultivations in the Prespa region of Greece. VELOS utilizes remote sensing, GPS mapping, and sensor technologies to assist in collecting and generating massive amounts of high-quality data. This information is then used to monitor crop development, detect pests and diseases, and assess the efficacy of pest management strategies. The collected information is exploited by the Decision Support Systems (DSS) at the core of IPM. The DSS assists in saving resources and minimizing the overall cost while improving overall pest management efficiency. It also provides an intelligent decision support mechanism for pest management methods, such as which pesticides to apply and when to use them. A DSS can also help pest control practitioners monitor the effectiveness of pest management measures and modify them appropriately. This feedback loop can provide effective disease management, avoiding the danger of serious crop losses or property damage. The proposed Intelligent Decision Support System (VELOS) is responsible for generating suitable plant protection recommendations as well as scheduling their implementation. © 2023 IEEE.

We have developed a machine learning approach to efficiently compute per-fragment transmittance, using transmittance composed and accumulated with moment statistics, on a fragment shader. Our approach excels in achieving superior visual accuracy for computing order-independent transparency (OIT) in scenes with high depth complexity when compared to prior art. © 2024 The Authors. Software-defined wireless mesh networks are being increasingly deployed in diverse settings, such as smart cities and public Wi-Fi access infrastructures. The signal propagation and interference issues that typically characterize these environments can be handled by employing SDN controller mechanisms, effectively monitoring link quality and triggering appropriate mitigation strategies, such as adjusting link and/or routing protocols. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised machine learning (ML) online framework for link quality detection consisting of: 1) improved preprocessing clustering algorithm, based on elastic similarity measures, to efficiently characterize wireless links in terms of reliability, and 2) a novel change point (CP) detector for the real-time identification of anomalies in the quality of selected links, which minimizes the overestimation error through the incorporation of a rank-based test and a recursive max-type procedure. In this sense, considering the communication constraints of such environments, our approach minimizes the detection overhead and the inaccurate decisions caused by overestimation. The proposed detector is validated, both on its individual components and as an overall mechanism, against synthetic but also real data traces;the latter being extracted from real wireless mesh network deployments. © 2023 CCBY.

E-commerce is a common platform for trading in this era and used online platform where buyer and seller have met the transaction. Usability is the process of optimizing the interaction between the user and the system, which can be done interactively, so that the user gets the correct information or better performs a function in the application. This research aims to analyze how is the usability of e-commerce platform in Indonesia, the most favorite and bigger platform selected for the case study. The comparison of e-commerce usability by distributes an online questionnaire to the user with more than 200 respondents in order to obtain data. The questionnaire was distributed using the likers and comment scale method, namely respondents were asked to complete a questionnaire that required them to indicate their level of agreement with a series of statements. The researcher analyzed and graphed the results obtained from the questionnaire data and tested whether the data was valid or not using the Python programming language, as well as recapitulating the data using Microsoft Excel. Then there are problems in this research, namely what applications provide more convenience to users, what applications are more efficient, and what applications provide better satisfaction to their users. In this work of the level of usability, take case on Tokopedia, Bukalapak and Shopee e-commerce platforms. Results show these three companies of e-commerce platform and the calculations achieve that the usability of application is in higher out of all attributes is Shopee which reaches up to 80% compare to others e-commerce. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Satellite images are widely used for remote sensing and defence applications,however,they are subject to a variety of *** ensure the security and privacy of these images,theymust be watermarked and encrypted before ***,this paper proposes a novel watermarked satellite image encryption scheme based on chaos,Deoxyribonucleic Acid(DNA)sequence,and hash *** watermark image,DNA sequence,and plaintext image are passed through the Secure Hash Algorithm(SHA-512)to compute the initial condition(keys)for the Tangent-Delay Ellipse Reflecting Cavity Map(TD-ERCS),Henon,and Duffing chaotic maps,*** bitwise XOR and substitution,the TD-ERCS map encrypts the watermark *** ciphered watermark image is embedded in the plaintext *** embedded plaintext image is permuted row-wise and column-wise using the Henon chaotic *** permuted image is then bitwise XORed with the values obtained from the Duffing *** additional security,the XORed image is substituted through a dynamic *** evaluate the efficiency and performance of the proposed algorithm,several tests are performed which prove its resistance to various types of attacks such as brute-force and statistical attacks.

Patients in healthcare facilities such as hospitals and clinics need to monitor continuously time to achieve the latest status and be aware in case of an emergency needed. Several monitoring systems implemented but has some limitation and are not in real-time as well as single parameter. This research aims to design and develop a heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure detection device based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for monitoring patient health conditions in healthcare facilities. The designed device is equipped with sensors that can accurately read heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure, as well as a system that is connected to the internet network so that the data generated can be accessed and analyzed in real time. The detection device has been tested using several patients with different health conditions. The results of the work show that the designed detection device can accurately read heart rate, body temperature, and blood pressure and can send data to a cloud server via the internet connection. The data generated by this detection device can be accessed by medical personnel or patients themselves. The results show all the patient parameters able to monitor remotely with an accuracy of up to 99%. It is hoped that the designed detection device can help medical personnel monitor patients’ health conditions more effectively and efficiently, as well as facilitate patients in monitoring their health. In addition, the IoT technology used in this device can open up opportunities for the development of more sophisticated and innovative health devices in the future. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a promising computing paradigm that provides computing and storage services for mobile and big data applications. MEC servers are deployed at base stations to establish a mobile edge network (MEN) where mobile users can offload tasks to nearby servers to speed up their mobile applications. However, challenges such as the quality of workload distribution in edge computing environments still need to be tackled. Most studies and offloading strategies assume mobile users are stationary, but in reality, users move and this affects workload distribution and response time of mobile applications. In this work, we propose a solution that addresses these challenges by reducing energy consumption and enhancing QoS by assigning mobile tasks to MEC servers in the users’ predicted trajectories using a Random waypoint Model. We propose OptiMEC for scheduling mobile tasks in a Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) environment in 5G networks that utilize central-base stations. We consider the task properties, user mobility, and delay constraints in our proposed algorithmic scheme and we also propose an energy-load balancing heuristic. The problem is formulated as an optimization and constraint satisfaction problem and we propose a near-optimal solution for scheduling mobile tasks to MEC servers. The results of our simulation experiments show that our proposed solution can significantly reduce energy consumption in Mobile Edge Networks (MENs) and improve QoS by executing tasks under constrained time. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
