According to the drawback of the traditional circle target extraction algorithm used by Hough Transform, such as computation complexity, low efficiency and etc, an new circle target extraction algorithm is proposed in this paper which can extract multiple circle targets with different radius at one time. First, the Average Absolute Difference is implemented to enhance the edge of the circle targets and suppress the noise of the background; Second, the locally self-adaptive segmentation algorithm is implemented to obtain the binary image. Thirdly, the thinning algorithm is implanted to obtain the single pixel edge of the circle targets and in order to reduce the computation times in the following process, a pruning algorithm is necessary; finally, a modified Hough transform algorithm is proposed to obtain the circle targets. The new circle targets have three advantages: low time consuming, high detection rate, robust to noise and fragmentary boundaries. The experimental results demonstrate that the new algorithm can extract the multiple circle targets quickly and accurately.

This paper introduced a novel high performance algorithm and VLSI architectures for achieving bit plane coding (BPC) in word level sequential and parallel mode. The proposed BPC algorithm adopts the techniques of coding pass prediction and parallel & pipeline to reduce the number of accessing memory and to increase the ability of concurrently processing of the system, where all the coefficient bits of a code block could be coded by only one scan. A new parallel bit plane architecture (PA) was proposed to achieve word-level sequential coding. Moreover, an efficient high-speed architecture (HA) was presented to achieve multi-word parallel coding. Compared to the state of the art, the proposed PA could reduce the hardware cost more efficiently, though the throughput retains one coefficient coded per clock. While the proposed HA could perform coding for 4 coefficients belonging to a stripe column at one intra-clock cycle, so that coding for an NxN code-block could be completed in approximate N2/4 intra-clock cycles. Theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed designs have high throughput rate with good performance in terms of speedup to cost, which can be good alternatives for low power applications.

Image registration is widely used in remote sensing image processing, medical image analysis and many other fields. Mutual information-based image registration technique gained much attention recently. However, during the optimization procedure, because of the influence of interpolation and the changes of overlapping areas in the images, the object function of the mutual information method may converge at local maximums so that wrong transformation parameters are generated as a result. In this paper, an improved simulated annealing–simplex method is proposed to solve this problem. Experiment results show that registration precision can reach to the sub-pixel level.

The imaging laser radar was an ideal imaging sensor to get the high precision 3D terrain for Terrain aided navigation (TAN). For the application, decreasing the mismatching rate was very important. In this paper, the measurement model of imaging laser radar was introduced and a novel 3D terrain matching algorithm with low mismatching rate was presented. According to the theory of function orthogonal decomposition, a terrain orthogonal decomposition feature vector (TODFV), composed of the orthogonal decomposition coefficients of the digital elevation map (DEM), was employed to represent the features of the terrain. Then TODFV was used to generate an interim matching position vector (IMPV). The IMPV were utilized to do real-time confidence analysis to improve the matching confidence, and were fused to give the final matching at the last. The algorithm could effectively decrease the mismatching rate of terrain matching algorithm, and improved the reliability of TAN. Experiments showed that the algorithm was effective and robust.

To overcome the main drawbacks of global minimal for active contour models (L. D. Cohen and Ron Kimmel) that the contour is only extracted partially for low SNR images, Method of boundary extraction based on Schrödinger Equation is proposed. Our Method is based on computing the numerical solutions of initial value problem for second order nonlinear Schrödinger equation by using discrete Fourier Transformation. Schrödinger transformation of image is first given. We compute the probability P(b,a) that a particle moves from a point a to another point b according to I-Type Schrödinger transformation of image and obtain boundary of object by using quantum contour model.

The imaging laser radar is fine measure equipment for TAN with the ability to get the high precision 3D terrain. A 3D terrain matching processor was needed to be designed for the specifical application. In this paper, base on the specialty of the imaging laser radar, the3D terrain matching processor was designed, with scheme of DSP+FPGA calculating engine, multi-level memory system, flexible parallel architecture, and FPGA-embedded accelerators. A parallel correlating accelerator base on 2D modular systolic array and other structures were designed to improve the system performance in FPGA. In the end, with strictly abiding the rules of high-speed circuit designing, the detail physical implement was drawn out. The experiments showed that the system could work well in the harsh military environment with high real-time, high reliability, and flexible architecture.

Combining bottom-up and top-down attention influences, a novel region extraction model which based on object-accumulated visual attention mechanism is proposed in this paper. Compared with early research, the new approach brings in prior information at the proper time, updates scan path dynamically, needs less computational resources and reduces the probability to direct the attention to a less-meaning area. The application to search an airport target in remote sensing image was provided, through which the novel mechanism that how visual attention chose the area was described. Compared with another two region extraction models, experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the approach proposed in this paper.
