Sharing energy in wider area: A two-layer energy sharing scheme for massive prosumers

The popularization of distributed energy resources transforms end-users from consumers into prosumers. Inspired by the sharing economy principle, energy sharing markets for prosumers are proposed to facilitate the utilization of renewable energy. This paper proposes a novel two-layer energy sharing market for massive prosumers, which can promote social efficiency by wider-area sharing. In this market, there is an upper-layer energy sharing market (U-ESM) in the distribution system and numerous lower-layer energy sharing markets (L-ESMs) in local communities. Prosumers in the same community share energy with each other in the L-ESM, which can be uncleared. The energy surplus and shortage of L-ESMs are cleared in the U-ESM. Thanks to the wider-area two-layer structure, the market outcome is near-social-optimal in large-scale systems. However, the proposed market forms a complex mathematical program with equilibrium constraints (MPEC). To solve the problem, we propose an efficient and hierarchically distributed bidding algorithm. The proposed two-layer market and bidding algorithm are verified on the IEEE 123-bus system with 11,250 prosumers, which demonstrates the practicality and efficiency for large-scale markets. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Tissue P systems with Look-Ahead Mode

Tissue P systems are a class of distributed and parallel computing models inspired from inter-cellular communication and cooperation between cells. In this work, a variant of tissue P system, named tissue P system with look-ahead mode, is discussed for decreasing the inherent non-determinism of tissue P systems and helping implementing tissue P systems on computers. Such systems are proved to be universal by simulating register machine, and they are also proved to be able to efficiently solve computationally hard problems by means of a space-time tradeoff, which is illustrated with a polynomial solution to 3-coloring problem.

Under PWM rectifier load, the power source based on virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is prone to cause mid-frequency oscillation. Firstly, the system oscillation mechanism and characteristic of the VSG-based power source are analyzed based on impedance method. Due to the negative resistance and capacitive characteristic in the middle frequency range, the PWM rectifier load is prone to interact with the VSG-based power source, which can lead to impedance resonance. Secondly, to improve the stability of the VSG-based power source under the PWM rectifier load, a voltage differentiation feedforward control is proposed. In addition, since the mid-frequency impedance magnitude decrease obviously, the improved VSG-based power source is closer to the ideal voltage source, which can automatically suppress the middle harmonics induced by uncontrollable rectifier load. Finally, the proposed control and the corresponding theoretical analysis are verified by simulations and experiments. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

This paper studies reduced-order dynamic consensus protocols for homogeneous linear multi-agent systems using pure relative output information. By applying H∞ control theory, a separation principle-like method with an additional small-gain constraint is proposed for designing an (nx-nu)th order protocol, where nx and nu are the numbers of states and inputs of each agent, respectively. Existence conditions for the protocol are then systematically discussed from the graph, low gain and high gain perspectives, respectively. It is revealed that the protocol always exists and can be found by the proposed design method for three cases: 1) directed acyclic networks, 2) agents with all eigenvalues in the closed left-half complex plane and 3) agents of minimum phase. Another reduced-order protocol of (nx - ny)th order is further discussed through duality. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Causal Attention Transformer for Video Text Retrieval

In the metaverse, video text retrieval is an urgent and challenging need for users in social entertainment. The current attention-based video text retrieval models have not fully explored the interaction between video and text, and only brute force feature embedding. Moreover, Due to the unsupervised nature of attention weight training, existing models have weak generalization performance for dataset bias. Essentially, the model learns that false relevant information in the data is caused by confounding factors. Therefore, this article proposes a video text retrieval method based on causal attention transformer. Assuming that the confounding factors affecting the performance of video text retrieval all come from the dataset, a structural causal model that conforms to the video text retrieval task is constructed, and the impact of confounding effects during data training is reduced by adjusting the front door. In addition, we use causal attention transformer to construct a causal inference network to extract causal features between video text pairs, and replace the similarity statistical probability with causal probability in the video text retrieval framework. Experiments are conducted on the MSR-VTT, MSVD, and LSMDC datasets, which proves the effectiveness of the retrieval model proposed in this paper. © 2025 The Author(s). The processes of sowing and fertiliser application represent a significant aspect of agricultural production. In order to achieve efficient and precise seeding and fertiliser application, mass flow detection of seed and fertiliser particles can facilitate real-time monitoring and precise decision-making for intelligent seeding and fertiliser application. However, the diversity of seed and fertiliser particle types and particle flow modes presents a challenge for existing detection methods, particularly in meeting the varying operational requirements, especially for particle mass flow detection in low-altitude and high-speed sowing operations of agricultural drones. In such cases, the overlap and flow rate will have a significant impact on the detection results due to the large displacement and the continuous high-throughput dense phase of the particle flow. This paper provides a summary of the existing seed and fertiliser particle mass flow detection techniques and their underlying working principles. It compares the direct detection based on mass with the indirect detection methods based on velocity and concentration, and analyses their respective advantages, disadvantages and applicability. It also explores the possibility of optimising the existing detection methods for the specific needs of agricultural UAVs and considers the potential introduction of cutting-edge science and technology in order to develop an efficient, accurate and convenient detection system to meet the growing market demand. © (2025), (INMA Bucharest). Underwater image enhancement (UIE) focuses on mitigating image quality degradation due to light absorption and scattering. However, most existing methods enhance images via a global and uniform manner, neglecting the inherent semantic information in different regions, which may cause the network to easily deviate from the region’s original color. Moreover, these methods typically rely on clear images to guide network convergence, a process constrained by the limited availability of real-world datasets, making it extremely challenging to train enhancement models for various degradations. To address these challenges, this paper introduces a semantic guidance and region contrastive constraints network (SRCNet). Initially, we propose a semantic-aware RWKV (Receptance Weighted key Value) block and a semantic prompt regularization module. These components leverage intra-target semantic correlations to preserve image details and colors within a global perceptual framework, while employing focal loss to emphasize the restoration of severely degraded regions. Subsequently, we introduce a region contrastive learning method that effectively utilizes negative samples to precisely capture features sensitive to degradation factors, thereby fostering robust feature distributions. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) approaches.

This manuscript studies the distributed faulttolerant formation for quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (QUAVs) subject to actuator failures and hybrid cyber attacks via a game-theoretical approach. The desired formation, which aligns with optimal self-interests, is achieved by seeking the Nash equilibrium (NE) of the game under a strongly connected directed graph. First, a secure fault-tolerant NE seeking algorithm is presented to handle actuator failures and false data injection (FDI) attacks, with the false data being measured through extended state observers (ESOs). The proposed algorithm is established on pseudo-gradient dynamics, in which a local estimate law is used to anticipate the actions of other QUAVs. Then, an ESOsbased algorithm is developed to mitigate the influence of FDI and denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, guaranteeing that all QUAVs exponentially converge to an adjustable small domain of NE by Lyapunov stability analysis. This work is distinct from existing studies by addressing the practical scenario, where physical failures and hybrid cyber attacks occur simultaneously in the game framework of QUAVs. Eventually, numerical experiments are conducted to demonstrate the efficacy of theoretical findings. © 1965-2011 IEEE.

VAGeo: View-specific Attention for Cross-View Object Geo-Localization

Cross-view object geo-localization (CVOGL) aims to locate an object of interest in a captured ground- or drone-view image within the satellite image. However, existing works treat ground-view and drone-view query images equivalently, overlooking their inherent viewpoint discrepancies and the spatial correlation between the query image and the satellite-view reference image. To this end, this paper proposes a novel View-specific Attention Geo-localization method (VAGeo) for accurate CVOGL. Specifically, VAGeo contains two key modules: view-specific positional encoding (VSPE) module and channel-spatial hybrid attention (CSHA) module. In object-level, according to the characteristics of different viewpoints of ground and drone query images, viewpoint-specific positional codings are designed to more accurately identify the click-point object of the query image in the VSPE module. In feature-level, a hybrid attention in the CSHA module is introduced by combining channel attention and spatial attention mechanisms simultaneously for learning discriminative features. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the proposed VAGeo gains a significant performance improvement, i.e., improving acc@0.25/acc@0.5 on the CVOGL dataset from 45.43%/42.24% to 48.21%/45.22% for ground-view, and from 61.97%/57.66% to 66.19%/61.87% for drone-view. sEMG (surface electromyography) signal control of bionic prostheses has been widely studied over the past few years. In particular, sparse sEMG signals are rapidly developing in the field of gesture recognition for their convenience, noninvasiveness, and ease of access. However, compared with high-density EMG signals, sparse EMG signals lack rich feature information, which in turn affects gesture recognition accuracy. In order to reduce the loss of feature information of sparse EMG signals in the spatio-temporal dimension, this paper proposes a hybrid neural network Res-LSTM combining residual network and long short-term memory network. The ordinary convolutional blocks in the CNN network are replaced with residual blocks, and the final fully connected layer is removed and a constant mapping layer is added to adequate extraction of spatial feature information of the data. The Res layer’s output is utilized as the input for the long and short-term memory (LSTM) network, which further extracts the features of the data in the temporal dimension, and finally completes the categorization output through a fully connected layer. The average accuracy of 91.11% for gesture-motion classification was verified by training on a homebrew dataset;and tested on a public dataset, NinaPro DB1, with an average accuracy of 91.03%. The experimental findings indicate that the proposed Res-LSTM network framework contributes to solving the problem of lack of feature information of sparse sEMG signals and improves the pattern recognition accuracy. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
