Simultaneous quantum and classical communication via multiparameter modulation

Classical and quantum communication protocols share similarities in terms of signal modulation, transmission, and reception, providing a basis for their integration. The integration of these protocols can lead to high-efficiency and low-cost performance by utilizing a single set of communication infrastructures to simultaneously achieve continuous-variable quantum key distribution and classical communication on a single wavelength. In this paper, we propose a simultaneous quantum and classical communication (SQCC) protocol based on multiparameter modulation, which combines pulse position modulation (PPM) for classical communication and Gaussian-distributed modulation (GM) for quantum key distribution, named GMCS-PPM-SQCC protocol. Classical information is transmitted using the arrival time parameter of the coherent state, while quantum key information is distributed through the two quadrature components of the coherent state. Coherent detection is used to detect all three parameters, and different data processing schemes are utilized to extract the corresponding information. We verified the feasibility of the protocol through simulations, discussed its secure transmission distance, bit error rate, and secret key rate in realistic scenarios. Our protocol has better phase noise tolerance than traditional SQCC protocol. It can further facilitates the integration of classical and quantum communication, and contributes to the deployment and application of QKD.

This paper proposes a compact monopolar patch antenna with loaded inductors and capacitors. The inductors and capacitors are introduced on two concentric slots on the patch layer. With these components, an extra phase shift can be added to the wave path from the center to the outer edge. Thus, the resonant frequency is shifted downward. To verify the idea, a prototype operating at 1.9 GHz is designed. Compared with the reference monopolar patch antenna of the same size, the resonant frequency of the proposed design is reduced by 23.3%. This design provides a 10-dB impedance bandwidth of 10.1% (1.79-1.98 GHz).

A decoupling method based on parasitic dielectric resonators (DRs) is proposed for compact multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna systems. Because a DR can scatter electromagnetic waves strongly at its resonance frequencies, it can serve as an effective decoupling structure. In this work, this concept is applied to a dual-port monopole antenna system. The two monopoles are separated 20mm $(\boldsymbol{0.235} \boldsymbol{\lambda_systems})$ , with an original isolation level of ~8 dB. By introducing a pair of cylindrical DRs (with a material relative permittivity of 7.9), the isolation level between the two monopoles can be improved by ~12-25 dB from 3.4-3.6 GHz. Simulation results show that an overlapping bandwidth $(\vert \boldsymbol{S}_{\boldsymbol{11}}\vert < -\boldsymbol{10}\ \mathbf{dB}$ & $(\vert \boldsymbol{S}_{\boldsymbol{21}}\vert < -\boldsymbol{20} \mathbf{dB})$ of 7.2% (3.36-3.61 GHz) can be obtained.

Robust Probabilistic Prediction for Stochastic Dynamical systems

It is critical and challenging to design robust predictors for stochastic dynamical systems (SDSs) with uncertainty quantification (UQ) in the prediction. Specifically, robustness guarantees the worst-case performance when the predictor’s information set of the system is inadequate, and UQ characterizes how confident the predictor is about the predictions. However, it is difficult for traditional robust predictors to provide robust UQ because they were designed to robustify the performance of point predictions. In this paper, we investigate how to robustify the probabilistic prediction for SDS, which can inherently provide robust distributional UQ. To characterize the performance of probabilistic predictors, we generalize the concept of likelihood function to likelihood functional, and prove that this metric is a proper scoring rule. Based on this metric, we propose a framework to quantify when the predictor is robust and analyze how the information set affects the robustness. Our framework makes it possible to design robust probabilistic predictors by solving functional optimization problems concerning different information sets. In particular, we design a class of moment-based optimal robust probabilistic predictors and provide a practical Kalman-filter-based algorithm for implementation. Observation-based Optimal control Law Learning with LQR Reconstruction

Designing controllers to generate various trajectories has been studied for years, while recently, recovering an optimal controller from trajectories receives increasing attention. In this paper, we reveal that the inherent linear quadratic regulator (LQR) problem of a moving agent can be reconstructed based on its trajectory observations only, which enables one to learn the optimal control law of the agent autonomously. Specifically, the reconstruction of the optimization problem requires estimation of three unknown parameters including the target state, weighting matrices in the objective function and the control horizon. Our algorithm considers two types of objective function settings and identifies the weighting matrices with proposed novel inverse optimal control methods, providing the well-posedness and identifiability proof. We obtain the optimal estimate of the control horizon using binary search and finally reconstruct the LQR problem with above estimates. The strength of learning control law with optimization problem recovery lies in less computation consumption and strong generalization ability. We apply our algorithm to the future control input prediction and the discrepancy loss is further derived. Numerical simulations and hardware experiments on a self-designed robot platform illustrate the effectiveness of our work. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the last decade, the service of vehicular networks has benefited from the rapid development of advanced communication and computing technologies including edge computing. For vehicular network operators, it is valuable to study how to realize the accurate allocation of edge computing resource on the premise of protecting users’ privacy. In this paper, we design a histogram publishing algorithm based on differential privacy. The algorithm first classifies tasks according to the characteristics of computing requests, then interferes categorized tasks and designs a shuffling algorithm based on Blum Blum Shub (BBS). Finally, the frequency histogram of computing resource is obtained by post-processing of the Expectation-Maximum (EM) algorithm. The simulation results verify the accuracy and superiority of the proposed histogram publishing algorithm by comparing it with the existing methods.

In order to explore the impact of pipe diameter, bend-diameter ratio and bend angle on the erosion of slurry pipe, a numerical simulation method approach grounded in Computational Fluid Dynamics-Dense Discrete Phase Model(CFD-DDPM)is proposed. Firstly, the geometric models of bends with different pipe diameters, bend-diameter ratios, and bend angles are constructed;secondly, the slurry pipe erosion model based on Dense Discrete Phase Model(DDPM) is constructed;then, model validation is conducted on the slurry pipe erosion model to affirm the accuracy of the model;finally, the computational fluid dynamics method is employed to simulate the erosion and wear behavior of the pipeline, to investigate the impact of pipe diameter, bend-diameter ratio and bend angle on the erosion and wear of the slurry pipeline. At the same time, gray correlation analysis was also used to analyze the significant relationship between the three pipeline factors and erosion and wear. The results show that the main erosion area is not determined, with the change of the pipeline parameters, the most serious erosion area will move;the effect of different pipeline parameter variations on the erosion rate is different, in which the pipe diameter of the largest impact, the second largest bend-diameter ratio, the smallest impact of the bend angle. Therefore, in the design of slurry pipeline, should first consider the influence of pipe diameter factors.

Scattering-induced glares hinder the detection of weak objects in various *** advances in wavefront shaping show one can not only enhance intensities through constructive interference but also suppress glares within a targeted region via destructive ***,due to the lack of a physical model and mathematical guidance,existing approaches have generally adopted a feedback-based scheme,which requires timeconsuming hardware ***,glare suppression with up to tens of speckles was demonstrated by controlling thousands of independent ***,we reported the development of a method named twostage matrix-assisted glare suppression(TAGS),which is capable of suppressing glares at a large scale without triggering time-consuming hardware *** using the TAGS,we experimentally darkened an area containing 100 speckles by controlling only 100 independent elements,achieving an average intensity of only 0.11 of the original *** is also noticeable that the TAGS is computationally efficient,which only takes 0.35 s to retrieve the matrix and 0.11 s to synthesize the *** the same number of independent controls,further demonstrations on suppressing larger scales up to 256 speckles were also *** envision that the superior performance of the TAGS at a large scale can be beneficial to a variety of demanding imaging tasks under a scattering environment.

Nonlinear dynamics bring difficulties to controller design for control-affine systems such as tractor-trailer vehicles, especially when the parameters in the dynamics are unknown. To address this constraint, we propose a derivative-based lifting function construction method, show that the corresponding infinite dimensional Koopman bilinear model over the lifting function is equivalent to the original control-affine system. Further, we analyze the propagation and bounds of state prediction errors caused by the truncation in derivative order. The identified finite dimensional Koopman bilinear model would serve as predictive model in the next step. Koopman Bilinear Model Predictive control (K-BMPC) is proposed to solve the trajectory tracking problem. We linearize the bilinear model around the estimation of the lifted state and control input. Then the bilinear Model Predictive control problem is approximated by a quadratic programming problem. Further, the estimation is updated at each iteration until the convergence is reached. Moreover, we implement our algorithm on a tractor-trailer system, taking into account the longitudinal and side slip effects. The open-loop simulation shows the proposed Koopman bilinear model captures the dynamics with unknown parameters and has good prediction performance. Closed-loop tracking results show the proposed K-BMPC exhibits elevated tracking precision with the commendable computational efficiency. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of K-BMPC.
