As mobile robots are becoming more and more widely used, it is of great significance to design an efficient path planning method for multi-robot systems (MRS) that can adapt to complex and unknown environments. In this paper, we present a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) based method to navigate the MRS with collision avoidance in unknown dynamic environments, which consists of centralized learning and decentralized executing paradigm. The proposed policy maps original laser information into robot control commands without constructing global maps. The learned policy is tested in Gazebo environments with three robot systems, which shows the effective performance in terms of success rate, extra time rate, and formation maintenance rate. © 2022 IEEE.

Path planning is one of the most critical links in mobile robots. Its timeliness, security and accessibility are crucial to the development and wide application of mobile robots. However, in solving the problem of path planning, the most popular A∗ algorithm has some problems, such as heuristic function cannot be estimated accurately, node redundancy, path is not smooth, and obstacle avoidance cannot be achieved in real time. To solve these problems, A fusion algorithm of improved A∗ combined with reverse path and dynamic window method (DWA-IMP-A∗) was proposed. The algorithm refines the heuristic function by incorporating the reverse path. The node optimization algorithm is used to further reduce the path length. The generated trajectories are smoothed by cubic spline interpolation. At the same time, it is integrated with the improved DWA algorithm to improve the efficiency and safety of robot path planning. The algorithm takes ROS mobile robot as the carrier and is tested under typical road conditions. Compared with A∗ algorithm, the planning time is reduced by 54.6% and the path length is reduced by 6.37%. Experimental results verify the effectiveness and robustness of the algorithm. The research results have certain reference significance for the path planning of various types of mobile robots and the research of driverless vehicles. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Cloud manufacturing aims to carry out large-scale collaborative production through remote equipment management. To improve management efficiency, it is necessary to construct a unified information model and an adaptive communication framework for manufacturing lines with heterogeneous (high reliable/ low load) needs. OPC UA has become a prominent solution for remote configuration with extensible information models and various transport mechanisms. However, the existing solutions based on OPC UA focus on the information model and communication framework for the machine level, which is hard to support efficient remote management of the production line. In this paper, we construct the model of the process and parameter information in production-line level with a unified manner, which enables unified scheduling, configuration, and monitoring. The operational data are modeled hierarchically to reduce the amount of data transmission during monitoring. The hybrid communication framework is designed by integrating the Client-Server and PubSub models with edge assistance, which is to meet the heterogeneous communication requirements. We implement the management architecture on the physical platform to verify the performance. The experiments show that our architecture is suitable for remote configuration in terms of the combined performance of packet loss rate and CPU load with a massive connection. © 2022 IEEE.

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS), unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and Terahertz (THz) communications, which are recognized as 6G promising techniques, have attracted significant attentions. We propose UAV energy minimization schemes for IRS/UAV-based mobile-edge-computing (MEC) and traffic-offloading over broadband THz mobile networks. In the networks, multiple UAVs serving as MEC-servers collect data from multiple ground users (GUs) with the assistance of a set of passive IRSs. First, we formulate a UAV energy minimization problem, which jointly optimizes the IRSs' phase shifts, UAVs' trajectories, and system computation and communication resources. For THz communications, since the composite channel power gains of GUs are complicated functions of UAVs' trajectories and IRSs' phase shifts, the formulated optimization problem is non-convex. Then, using the alternating optimization (AO) technique, we decompose this non-convex optimization problem into three sub-problems which then can be iteratively solved. Finally, we validate and evaluate the proposed schemes by numerical analyses, which show that the energy consumption of UAVs can be reduced by around 40% by using IRSs. © 2023 IEEE.

Online Voltage Regulation of Distribution Networks in Energy Sharing Markets: a Feedback-Based Method With Parameter Estimation

With the number of prosumers rising quickly, energy sharing markets in distribution networks are emerging. The trading of active power influences the power flow in the distribution network, which will cause voltage fluctuation when the line resistance is not trivial. In this paper, we investigate the voltage regulation problem of distribution networks with the consideration of electricity markets. We first formulate the problem in the form of a non-cooperative game. The uniqueness of generalized Nash Equilibrium (GNE) is proved. Then, a feedback-based GNE seeking algorithm is proposed with online parameter estimation without knowing accurate values of resistance and reactance. The estimation error is proved to be accurate in expectation. The convergence of the algorithm is also guaranteed theoretically. Finally, numerical results in the IEEE 33-bus system validate the effectiveness of the algorithm. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

The inverse heat transfer method is an effective inversion algorithm for solving the heat transfer at non-measurable places of the study object. However, the current inverse heat transfer inversion method has the problems of low accuracy and difficult selection of temperature measurement point locations. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an optimization algorithm for measurement point locations based on improved fuzzy c-means clustering(IFCM). The method first generates the initial clustering center through a specific density function and introduces the Mahalanobis distance to solve the problem that the traditional fuzzy c-means clustering results depend on the initial clustering center and the results are unstable. Then, an optimized deployment algorithm based on IFCM temperature measurement points is proposed and compared with other mean value clustering algorithms. Finally, the optimal temperature measurement position on the crystal surface is selected by the IFCM temperature measurement point optimization deployment algorithm on the CZ(Czochraski)silicon single crystal growth equipment, and the inversion results of the randomly selected temperature measurement point scheme and the optimized temperature measurement point scheme are compared by the real-time inversion algorithm based on the dynamic matrix control multi-boundary heat flux, and the results of the optimized temperature measurement point scheme are obtained to be better than that of the randomly selected temperature measurement point scheme.

This paper presents a co-design control scheme that integrates Distributed Model Predictive control with dynamic quantizers for networked nonlinear continuous systems operating under limited communication bandwidth. Each subsystem-based Model Predictive control formulation considers the dynamic quantizer's influence within the optimization problem in the proposed method. Both the quantizer parameters and the control law are optimized simultaneously in real time, which offers potential improvements in the performance of the closed-loop system within a certain communication limitation. A stability constraint based on small-gain Lyapunov theory is designed for each subsystem's controller, allowing for a relaxation of the restrictions on the closed-loop subsystems compared to decentralized approaches. Additionally, a sufficient condition that ensures the stability of the overall system is provided. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed co-design method. © 2014 IEEE.

An enhanced approach utilizing APF(artificial potential field) method is introduced in this paper. By adopting this approach, the challenge of local minima that may occur when dealing with local path planning for unmanned vehicles is tackled. When the unmanned vehicle approaches an obstacle, a virtual attractive potential field is implemented, utilizing the deviation in the heading angle of the vehicle to control the steering angle. Consequently, the vehicle can avoid obstacles, resolving the issue of local minima and enabling its application in path planning for multi-unmanned vehicles. The ROS with Gazebo simulation platform is used to verify the enhanced algorithm’s effectiveness in multi-unmanned vehicle path planning in an unknown environment. © Beijing HIWING Scientific and Technological information Institute 2024.

Lifespan Prediction of Electronic Card in Nuclear Power Plant Based on Few Samples

A lifespan prediction model was developed based on a few samples to provide decision-making information for operation and maintenance, as well as improve the economy and safety of nuclear power plant (NPP) operations. This paper applies a Weibull model to forecast the lifespan of electronic cards with a few samples in NPPs. Relationship between the lifespan prediction of electronic cards and the ambient temperature is revealed using the Arrhenius equation. Censored samples are used to compensate for the lack of fault electronic card data. Scale parameter and shape parameter of the Weibull model are optimized by adjusting the weight ratio between the censored data and the fault data. Characteristic life is then obtained using the rank regression fitting equation. Parameters of the Arrhenius equation can be calculated by dividing the samples into groups according to the ambient temperature. A case study of the intermediate range high-voltage electric card of ex-core neutron detectors demonstrates that the lifespan prediction of electronic cards in NPPs can be successfully predicted with a few samples by combining the Weibull model and the Arrhenius model. This can help provide preventive maintenance recommendations for electronic cards. Finally, operation suggestions for the electronic card’s ambient temperature can be made by utilizing the temperature-life model. © 2023, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
