The problem of session-based recommendation aims to predict user actions based on anonymous sessions. Previous methods model a session as a sequence and estimate user representations besides item representations to make recommendations. Though achieved promising results, they are insufficient to obtain accurate user vectors in sessions and neglect complex transitions of items. To obtain accurate item embedding and take complex transitions of items into account, we propose a novel method, i.e. Session-based Recommendation with Graph Neural Networks, SR-GNN for brevity. In the proposed method, session sequences are modeled as graph-structured data. Based on the session graph, GNN can capture complex transitions of items, which are difficult to be revealed by previous conventional sequential methods. Each session is then represented as the composition of the global preference and the current interest of that session using an attention network. Extensive experiments conducted on two real datasets show that SR-GNN evidently outperforms the state-of-the-art session-based recommendation methods consistently. Copyright © 2018, The Authors. The internet of things (IoT) attracts great interest in many application domains concerned with monitoring and control of physical phenomena. IoT applications try to provide more and more functionality and then they inevitably become so complex as to make the limits of devices worse, which may lead to poor performance of applications. Computation offloading is a promising way to improve the performance of an IoT application by executing some parts of the application on remote devices or servers. However, supporting such capability is not easy for application developers due to (1) adaptability: IoT applications often face changes of runtime environments so that the adaptation on offloading is needed. (2) effectiveness: when the device context changes, it needs to dynamically decide the deployment plan of computation tasks, and the reduced execution time must be greater than the network delay and extra overheads caused by offloading. This paper proposes a framework which supports IoT applications with adaptive computation offloading capability. First, a design pattern is proposed to enable an application to be computation offloaded on-demand. Second, an estimation model is presented to automatically decide the deployment plan for offloading. Third, a framework is implemented to support the design pattern and the estimation model. A thorough zxevaluation on the real-world application is proposed, and the results show that our approach can help reduce execution time by over 45% in most scenarios.

Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANETs) have received a great attention recently due to their potential and various applications. However, the initial phase of the VANET has many research challenges that need to be addressed, such as the issues of security and privacy protection caused by the openness of wireless communication networks among the city-wide applied regions. Specially, anomaly detection for a VANET has become a challenging problem, due to the changes in the scenario of VANETs comparing with traditional wireless networks. Motivated by this issue, we focus on the problem of anomaly detection in VANETs, and propose an effective anomaly detection approach based on the convolutional neural network in this paper. The proposed approach takes into account the spatio-temporal and sparse features of VANET traffic, and it uses a convolutional neural network architecture and a loss function based on Mahalanobis distance for anomaly detection. Furthermore, a comprehensive assessment is provided to validate the proposed approach, which illustrates the effectiveness of this approach.

Considered the wireless sensor network clustering structure, a new big data collecting method based on compressive sensing is proposed. The collection process is as follows: in the cluster, the sink node sets the corresponding seed vector based on the distribution of network, and then sends it to each cluster head. Cluster head can generate corresponding own random spacing sparse matrix based on its received seed vector, and collect data through compressive sensing technology; Among clusters, clusters forward measurement values to sink node along multi-hop routing tree which we built before. Performance analyzing and comparison of results show that this method is superior to other methods regardless of in a cluster or inter-cluster.

In order to achieve a non-invasive continuous measurement of blood pressure, a method of establishing a nonlinear blood pressure estimation model by BPNN(Back Propagation Neural Network)was proposed. By acquiring pulse wave, systolic and diastolic blood pressure value of every heart beat cycle were calculated based on the model, and continuous blood pressure was gotten as consequence. Experiments were done on 25 healthy young students and 33 patients in the ICU ward that introduced from MIMIC public database. Experiment result show that 95% systolic values and 96% diastolic values of health group were in confidence interval respectively, and that of patient group were 96.7% in systolic value and 95% in diastolic value respectively. And the blood pressure values measured by the proposed model met AAMI standard.

Outlier detection is an important task in data mining. Many approaches have been developed to detect outliers. However, most researches focus on global outlier detection. In many situations, the local outlier detection is more valuable than the global outlier detection. In this paper, the existing methods for outlier detection are discussed firstly, and then the definition of local outlier and some formulas are given. Also a hybrid algorithm for mining local outlier is proposed which is based on clustering algorithm and standard deviation in statistics. By calculating the standard deviation of a cluster and local outlier factor of an object in the cluster, we can identify that the clusters with higher standard deviation may have outliers, and the objects with higher local outlier factor can be recognised as outliers. Experimental results on real datasets show that the proposed algorithm is correct and effective for mining local outliers. Copyright © 2017 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The reduced density matrices （RDMs） of many-body quantum states form a convex set. The boundary of low dimensional projections of this convex set may exhibit nontrivial geometry such as ruled surfaces. In this paper, we study the physical origins of these ruled surfaces for bosonic systems. The emergence of ruled surfaces was recently proposed as signatures of symmetry- breaking phase. We show that, apart from being signatures of symmetry-brealdng, ruled surfaces can also be the consequence of gapless quantum systems by demonstrating an explicit example in terms of a two-mode Ising model. Our analysis was largely simplified by the quantum de Finetti＇s theorem--in the limit of large system size, these RDMs are the convex set of all the symmetric separable states. To distinguish ruled surfaces originated from gapless systems from those caused by symmetry- breaking, we propose to use the finite size scaling method for the corresponding geometry. This method is then applied to the two-mode XY model, successfully identifying a ruled surface as the consequence of gapless systems.

We investigate a subgraph mining framework, that can connect similar entities according to their structure and attribute similarities. We take one mapping between two related points chosen from the query and target graph as one vertex in the correspondence graph and decide the weight of the edge based on the similarity score. In this way, we transform the problem to a dense subgraph discovery problem. To adapt this method to large scale, we choose the candidate group by some effective pruning methods. We also add some techniques to make our method more flexible to fit uncertain user sketched input. We investigate how changes to certain parameters in the algorithm can influence the results. By integrating all these adjustments into the framework, we can provide a method that exhibits both accuracy and flexibility in many situations with a degree of generality. Experiments on both certain and uncertain query graphs can give satisfactory and informative results.

The reduced density matrices of a many-body quantum system form a convex set, whose three-dimensional projection is convex in R3. The boundary of may exhibit nontrivial geometry, in particular ruled surfaces. Two physical mechanisms are known for the origins of ruled surfaces： symmetry breaking and gapless. In this work, we study the emergence of ruled surfaces for systems with local Hamiltonians in infinite spatial dimension, where the reduced density matrices are known to be separable as a consequence of the quantum de Finetti＇s theorem. This allows us to identify the reduced density matrix geometry with joint product numerical range II of the Hamiltonian interaction terms. We focus on the case where the interaction terms have certain structures, such that a ruled surface emerges naturally when taking a convex hull of ∏. We show that, a ruled surface on sitting in ∏ has a gapless origin, otherwise it has a symmetry breaking origin. As an example, we demonstrate that a famous ruled surface, known as the oloid, is a possible shape of , with two boundary pieces of symmetry breaking origin separated by two gapless lines.

Traditional models unable to model adaptive software systems since they deal with fixed requirements only, but cannot handle the behaviors that change at runtime in response to environmental changes. In this paper, an adaptive Petri net (APN) is proposed to model a self-adaptive software system. It is an extension of hybrid Petri nets by embedding a neural network algorithm into them at some special transitions. The proposed net has the following advantages: 1) it can model a runtime environment;2) the components in the model can collaborate to make adaption decisions while the system is running;and 3) the computation is done at the local component, while the adaption is for the whole system. We illustrate the proposed APN by modeling a manufacturing system. © 2015 IEEE.
