complexity in system of systems (SoS) is a key factor in SoS decision making. This paper analyzes the main characteristics of SoS, especially its complexity in terms of monolithic emergence, component systems adaption and uncertainty in SoS evolution. It further discusses the effects of SoS complexity on SoS decision making. In light of SoS complexity, the paper figures out the major problems that need to be addressed in four areas, namely SoS adaption, abnormity analysis in SoS evolution, exploratory analysis of SoS capability and SoS simulation. In conclusion the paper proposes a preliminary SoS decision making model based on the analysis of SoS adaption. © 2012 IEEE.

C4ISR system is the multiplicator of system of Armament systems (SoAS). An analysis method for Contribution Degree of C4ISR system is proposed in the paper. Firstly, Overall-Effect based evaluation method for operational effectiveness of SoAS is introduced. Secondly, Contribution Degree of C4ISR system is defined and experiment flow based on exploratory simulation is designed. On this basis, an analysis method for Contribution Degree of C4ISR system is put forward. Finally, a simulation experiment is executed to prove the effectiveness of the method.

While the difficulty and complexity of simulation system increasing, the development efficiency and execution performance of the large-scale distributed simulation system (LSDSS) must be improved effectively. Furthermore, while the multi-core has become popular hardware, yet the traditional federate mechanism couldn't utilize and schedule the CPU resource, which would limit the simulation performance. Then PFHF, Parallel Framework for HLA Federate, was designed and realized to solve the problem above. PFHF could combine and construct federate from simulation model components, perform simulation engine management, data distribution management, object management, component management and load balancing function, etc., then support the integrated execution environment based on multi-core and parallel technique. Several experiments proved that PFHF could utilize multi-core CPU adequately, and reduce the LSDSS execution time efficiently. © 2012 IEEE.

In simulation grid, information sharing is very important for the grid units to cooperate with each other effectively and efficiently. In this paper, to resolve the problem of semantic heterogeneity, an ontology-based approach is proposed. In this approach, firstly, the local ontologies are merged into a global ontology based on their similarities. Then, with the merged global ontology, the semantic heterogeneity is resolved by comparing the classes and attributes of the local information source schemas. An example of how to resolve semantic heterogeneity in the E-government simulation grid is presented to illustrate this approach.

Through analyzing the theoretical basis and approach features of system-of-systems and cloud computing technology, the designing infrastructure and application flow of the meta-synthetic environment for equipment system-of-systems demonstration have been given with a combination of construction and application requirements of equipment system-of-systems centered on information. When designing the meta-synthetic environment for equipment system-of-systems demonstration, we adopted the way of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and put forward a model registration mechanism. By establishing the model registration principle, we designed and generated the model registration system, realized the model registration and management of the meta-synthetic environment to solve the quantification and evaluation issue and realized Design on Demand and Service on Demand of evaluation of the equipment system-of-systems demonstration meta-synthetic environment.

In order to resolve the problems resulting from various combinations of equipment selection, numerous uncertainties of future demands and the development process, a planning method based on the Markowitz model is proposed. First a qualitative analysis is performed and models of a combination planning method are produced, then a Markowitz model of the development plan of system-of-systems under uncertainty is built and solved by adopting a searching algorithm based on vector operation. Finally the effectiveness of the method is checked by scouting the development planning examples of the early warning surveillance system.

The polarization of radar antenna vary with scan direction. This phenomenon is called Spatial Polarization Characteristic (SPC) of antenna. Based on the SPC of single polarized antenna, a novel polarization estimation method is established. Comparing with the traditional estimation method, this one has the following advantages: (i) It does not need dual-polarization channels to estimate the signal polarization;(ii) The polarization and angle of arriving (AOA) of a periodic signal can be estimated simultaneously;(iii) The full-polarization pattern of the antenna can be matched automatically during the estimation. The feasibility of this method is proved by simulation.

BP neural network for failure pattern recognition has been used in hydraulic system fault ***, its convergence rate is relatively small and always trapped at the local minima. So a new modified PSO-BP hydraulic system fault diagnosis method was proposed,which combined the respective advantages of particle swarm algorithm and BP algorithm. Firstly, the inertia weight and learning factor of the standard particle swarm algorithm was improved, then BP neural network's weights and thresholds were optimized by modified PSO algorithm. BP network performance was ameliorated. The simulation results showed that this method improved the convergence rate of the BP network, and it could reduce the diagnostic errors. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Union Resolution Performance of Frequency Modulation Parameter Based on RWT for LFM Signals

Union resolution performance of FM (frequency modulation) parameter based on Radon-Wigner transform (RWT) for multi-component LFM (linear frequency modulation) signals is studied. Firstly, the RWT output expression is offered, and the independent resolution performances of initial frequency and chirp rate are analyzed. Secondly, the RWT output approximate analytic expression is given based on quadratic Taylor's series expansion, and the contour property is analyzed. Contour can be used to picture the union resolution performance of FM parameter, and 2-D resolution performance is studied based on approximate analytic expression, and the union resolution expression of FM parameter and resolution ellipse are offered. The simulation results validate the union resolution expression, and show that the union resolution can improve the resolution performance of multi-component LFM signals, contrasted with absolute resolution performance. The paper can help the study of LFM parameter estimation and resolution performance.
