The global spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2.(SARS-CoV-2)and its variant strains,including Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,and now Omicron,pose a significant *** the constant evolution of the virus,Omicron and its subtypes BA.1,BA.2,BA.3,BA.4,and BA.5 have developed the capacity to evade neutralization induced by previous vaccination or *** evasion highlights the urgency in discovering new monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)with neutralizing activity,especially broadly neutralizing antibodies(bnAbs),to combat the *** the current study,we introduced a fully human neutralizing mAb,CR9,that targets Omicron *** demonstrated the mAb’s effectiveness in inhibiting Omicron replication both in vitro and in *** analysis using cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)revealed that CR9 binds to an epitope formed by RBD residues,providing a molecular understanding of its neutralization *** its potency and specificity,CR9 holds promise as a potential adjunct therapy for treating Omicron *** findings highlight the importance of continuous mAb discovery and characterization in addressing the evolving threat of COVID-19.

Moving-Window Integrated Physics-Data-Based Modeling of Four-Wheel Vehicle Lateral Dynamics

This paper presents an Integrated physics-data-based (IPDB) modeling of lateral vehicle dynamics with moving-window data snapshots. The IPDB model encodes the fundamental physical principle of four-wheel vehicle motions and simultaneously carries out the adaptiveness of the data-driven approach. Specifically, the traditional physics-based lateral dynamics considering four-wheel interaction are first derived into an affine linear-parameter-varying model, in which the vehicle-related parameters and motion variables are separated. Then, by using the Kronecker product, the IPDB model, directly formulated by the data snapshots in the moving-window fashion, is obtained for system representation. As a result, the IPDB technique rendered model is physically interpretable. The impacts of moving window length on modeling performance are numerically studied. The IPDB model accuracy is validated with data from CarSim simulations and experiments with passenger vehicles under various scenarios. It is further demonstrated that the proposed IPDB model is more data-efficient than other data-driven methods since it only uses the data snapshot in the moving window to update the model recursively. This characteristic enables the IPDB method with online modeling capability to adapt to varying driving scenarios. © The Author(s) 2025.

Synchronization is a widespread phenomenon observed in both natural and societal systems. The advancement of MEMS technology has facilitated the study and application of synchronization, significantly enhancing the performance of MEMS sensors. However, the limited synchronization range of linear systems has restricted its broader application in sensor technologies. In this article, we propose a method to expand the synchronization range based on mode coupling and phase control. Theoretical derivations and experimental validations were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Experimental results reveal that the method achieves a synchronization range expansion of more than 50 times for both downward and upward frequency sweeps. Furthermore, the maintenance time of the synchronized state is significantly extended. This achievement is expected to provide a new solution for the application of synchronization-enhanced sensing in various fields, paving the way for improved sensor performance and broader applicability. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Target Defense with Multiple Defenders and an Agile Attacker via Residual Policy Learning

The target defense problem involves intercepting an attacker before it reaches a designated target region using one or more defenders. This letter focuses on a particularly challenging scenario in which the attacker is more agile than the defenders, significantly increasing the difficulty of effective interception. To address this challenge, we propose a novel residual policy framework that integrates deep reinforcement learning (DRL) with the force-based Boids model. In this framework, the Boids model serves as a baseline policy, while DRL learns a residual policy to refine and optimize the defenders’ actions. Simulation experiments demonstrate that the proposed method consistently outperforms traditional interception policies, whether learned via vanilla DRL or fine-tuned from force-based methods. Moreover, the learned policy exhibits strong scalability and adaptability, effectively handling scenarios with varying numbers of defenders and attackers with different agility levels. Promoting transformation of energy structure while preventing industry chain supply chain risks has become an important issue facing coal industry chain supply chain (CICSC) under “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”. This study is based on evolutionary game model to investigate the risk prevention and regulatory issues involving chain master enterprises, other enterprises, and government regulators. Research results indicate that: (1) System evolution of risk prevention and control of CICSC is not constant convergence in theoretical optimal strategy combination, there is a systematic bias in behavioral decision-making. (2) Reference effect, risk preferences and other subjective preferences heterogeneity affects value judgment of decision makers. The effect of cost reference is greater than that of utility reference, maintaining risk avoidance in cost problems and risk pursuit in revenue problems can help to improve the quality of individual decision-making. (3) There is a non-linear effect of fairness preference on risk prevention and control of CICSC, it makes fairness preference have the positive impact to risk prevention and control when intensity of fairness preference is in moderate range and types of fairness preference are arranged and combined in a scientific order, otherwise, fairness preference will become a kind of behavior that is “detrimental to others and not beneficial to oneself”. We propose new insights for risk prevention and control from the aspects of achievement transformation and guarantee mechanisms, building reward and punishment mechanisms and so on, call for further analysis of risk prevention and control according to specific risks in each link of CICSC in future research. © 2025 The Author(s)

This paper investigates the cooperative link configuration problem for Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) in Underwater Acoustic (UWA) sensor networks with Energy Harvesting (EH), which aims to maximize long-term cumulative capacity by jointly optimizing cooperation relay, AUV transmission power, and relay transmission power. Subject to unknown time-varying Channel state Information (CSI), unpredictable stochastic EH, and variable communication topology caused by AUV mobility, the proposed problem is an unknown dynamic combination decision optimization problem. To resist the change of the dynamic UWA communication topology with unknown time-varying CSI and EH, a novel collaborative contextual multi-armed bandit learning framework is proposed, which allows relay nodes to learn cooperatively and enriches the learning information of relays. Consequently, the proposed learning framework can resist the change of the dynamic UWA communication topology efficiently, thereby achieving the superior link configuration quickly. Besides, a learning-rate adjustment rule for the dynamic UWA communication topology is proposed to adaptively balance the exploration-exploitation, thereby avoiding missing the real superior joint relay-power configuration. Finally, simulation results show the significantly superiority of the proposed scheme. © 2015 IEEE.

A port-Hamiltonian framework for displacement-based and rigid formation tracking

This paper proposes a passivity-based port-Hamiltonian (pH) framework for multi-agent displacement-based and rigid formation control and velocity tracking. The control law consists of two parts, where the internal feedback is to track the velocity and the external feedback is to achieve formation stabilization by steering variables of neighboring agents that prescribe the desired geometric shape. Regarding the external feedback, a general framework is proposed for stabilizing different kinds of formations (including displacement-based, distance-based, angle-based, bearing-based and heterogeneous formations) by means of the advantage that the pH model is energy-based and coordinate-free. To solve the issue that the incidence matrix is not of full column rank over cyclic graphs, the graph matrix property is used to prove the convergence to the target sets for the displacement-based formation, while for rigid formations, the algebraic conditions of infinitesimal rigidity are investigated to achieve local asymptotic stability. Furthermore, the rigid formation with heterogeneous constraints is further investigated under this framework and the local asymptotic stability is proved under a mild assumption. Simulations are performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the framework. © 2025 The Author(s)

Evaluation of indocyanine green inhalation to detect air leak sites during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery: a prospective study

Background: This study aimed to investigate the feasibility and clinical benefits of indocyanine green (ICG) inhalation for detecting air leak sites during video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS). Methods: Between February 2023 and May 2023, a total of 288 patients underwent VATS were enrolled in this study. Among the population, 72 patients received ICG inhalation test following the traditional submersion sealing test. And 216 patients only underwent the submersion sealing test were matched using 1:3 propensity score matching analysis. The results of ICG inhalation test and the clinical outcomes were compared. Results: In the ICG group, 48 air leak sites were detected in 25 patients (25/72, 34.7%). The conventional submersion sealing test identified 30 air leak sites, while the ICG inhalation test detected 47 sites. Among these detected air leak sites, 34 sites were repaired by suturing or stapling. The postoperative air leak rate in the ICG group (20.8%) was significantly lower than the control group (37.0%, P = 0.011). ICG inhalation test was a favorable factor for reducing postoperative air leaks (OR: 0.40;95%CI: 0.20–0.78;P = 0.008). Conclusions: The ICG inhalation test facilitates the identification of air leak sites that may have been overlooked in the conventional submersion sealing test. This technique is useful to reduce postoperative air leaks for patients undergoing VATS. Unit commitment with bidirectional ramping constraints of flexibility retrofit thermal power unit

Flexibility retrofits of thermal power units have been widely implemented to improve power system balancing. These retrofits enable operation below the regular minimum output, known as deep peak regulation, to accommodate increasing renewable energy integration. Due to the inherent characteristics of thermal power units, ramp-up rates and ramp-down rates generally differ. Existing studies often overlook this difference by assuming equal ramping rates. To bridge this gap, this paper systematically models and analyses bidirectional ramping constraints in unit commitment (UC) models, providing a more accurate and realistic representation of the ramping process. Specifically, this paper proposes three innovative bidirectional ramping models. The first is the all-period fixed bidirectional ramping (AFBR) model, which assumes a constant ramp rate across all periods. The second model is the interperiod dynamic bidirectional ramping (InterDBR) model, which captures variations in ramping rates across different peak regulation states, including deep peak regulation with oil (DPRO), deep peak regulation (DPR), and regular peak regulation (RPR). These ramping rate adjustments are restricted to interperiod scheduling periods. The third is the intraperiod dynamic bidirectional ramping (IntraDBR) model, which considers transitions between DPRO, DPR, and RPR within an intraperiod scheduling period, thereby reflecting actual operational conditions of the unit. We validate the effectiveness of the proposed bidirectional ramping models on the IEEE 118-bus system and a real-world Ningxia Power Grid system. Results demonstrate that bidirectional ramping models more accurately and effectively support dispatch scheduling decisions, improving system security and economic efficiency. © 2025 The Authors

Exploring Token-Level Augmentation in Vision Transformer for Semi-Supervised Semantic Segmentation

Semi-supervised semantic segmentation has witnessed remarkable advancements in recent years. However, existing algorithms are based on convolutional neural networks and directly applying them to Vision Transformers poses certain limitations due to conceptual disparities. To this end, we propose TokenMix, a data augmentation technique specifically designed for semi-supervised semantic segmentation with Vision Transformers. TokenMix aligns well with the global attention mechanism by mixing images at the token level, enhancing learning capability for contextual information among image patches. We further incorporate image augmentation and feature augmentation to promote the diversity of augmentation. Moreover, to enhance consistency regularization, we propose a dual-branch framework where each branch applies image and feature augmentation to the input image. We conduct extensive experiments across multiple benchmark datasets, including Pascal VOC 2012, Cityscapes, and COCO. Results suggest that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms with notably observed accuracy improvement, especially under limited fine annotations. Copyright © 2025, The Authors.
