Gaussian processes provide a Bayesian regression framework,commonly used in stationary regression by online learning,where the data is fed one by *** this paper,a perturbed Gaussian process with chunk sparsification is proposed to track non-stationary systems.A chunk sparsification mechanism is designed to select the optimal bases from a chunk of *** non-stationary system is modeled by a perturbed Gaussian process(PGP),which enables it to track the changing of the system through forgetting the history information at one point or a chunk of ***,PGP is tested on two *** results show that PGP requires less bases than the approximate linear dependence(ALD)sparsification,especially when the data is collected from a trajectory.

On Frequency Sensitivity and Mode Orthogonality of Flexible Robotic Manipulators

This paper presents sensitivity analysis of vibration frequencies of flexible manipulators with respect to variations of systems parameters such as rotational inertia of hub, and mass, moment, and side of tip load. Both Euler-Bernoulli and Timoshenko dynamical models of flexible manipulators are discussed. By using variational method, sensitivity indices are obtained with explicit expressions for measuring the sensitivity of frequencies. Based on variational formulations, a novel method for deriving the orthogonal relations among vibration modal shape functions of flexible manipulators is introduced. With this method, the orthogonal relations can be derived easily without invoking the tedious process of differentiation and integration by part, as commonly used in their derivation. © 2014 Chinese Association of automation.

state estimation is a core objective in cyber-physical systems. In the state estimation problem over linear systems, the Kalman filter is the standard solution. The filter is the format on which the solutions to subsequent estimation problems are based. Among these problems are the estimation problem in the presence of packet drops and estimation problem involving event-based triggers. We study in this paper both phenomena simultaneously. In an attempt to find the Kalman-like filter, which proves the Gaussianity of the state and offers a set of update equations, our paper shows that no such filter exists. More precisely, one cannot find an event-based trigger such that under possible packet drops, the state variable remains a Gaussian variable. This conclusion can be reasonably extended to a more general setting.

This paper investigates a data-based robust decentralized stabilizing control scheme for unknown large-scale systems via adaptive critic designs. The control consists of near-optimal stabilizing control and adaptive robustifying compensation. In order to avoid the common assumptions of boundedness and matched condition on interconnections, the actual states of interconnected subsystems are replaced with their desired ones. By using local input-output data, the subsystem dynamics can be obtained by neural network (NN) identifier. Then, with the help of local critic NN, the near-optimal decentralized control is derived via identifier-critic architecture for corresponding subsystems. Considering the replacement error, identification error and approximation error as overall error, an adaptive robustifying term is added to overcome it in real-time. Simulation example is given to verify the effectiveness of the present control scheme.

Due to the uncertainty of power load demand and the stochastic power generation from renewable energy, frequency fluctuation becomes a major concern of power system, especially for a microgrid. In this paper, an improved proportional-integral (PI) controller based on the neural adaptive control method is proposed to deal with the load frequency control (LFC) problem in a microgrid with wind power. The designed neural adaptive control auxiliary controller is used to provide the adaptive supplement control signal to PI controller in a real-time manner. Simulation studies on a benchmark microgrid system are carried out between the proposed compound controller and traditional PI controller. The simulation results demonstrate the proposed method has a superior performance for stabilizing the frequency over the traditional PI control under disturbances from the load change and wind power.

In this paper, the adaptive critic method is applied to solve a class of continuous-time event-based H_∞ control problems. The present control problem is transformed into a two-player zero-sum differential game and the adaptive critic structure is employed for coping with the event-based minimax optimization. Next, the event-based optimal feedback control and the time-based worst-case disturbance law are learned by training a critic neural network. In addition, the closed-loop system is constructed with stability analysis of the critic error dynamics and the sampled-data plant. The exclusion of the infamous Zeno behavior of the present event-based control design is also discussed. Finally, the control performance of the present approach is evaluated through simulation study.

3D display has become increasingly popular in many fields. It can provide incredible immersion compared with 2D display. There are many researches referring to the change of user about no matter subjective experience or objective physiology signal while watching 3D content. Similarly, in this paper, we study the variation of user’s EEG when the user watched 3D content. However, we only focus on parallax cue and avoid other cues of 3D content by using Random Dot Stereogram(RDS) as visual stimulus. We designed an experiment which asked the subject to watch RDS with nine kinds of parallaxes(0,±0.5,±1.1,±1.3,±1.7). The users watched one RDS for 1 minute and then closed eyes and rest for 1 minute every time. During watching, EEG signal with 30-channel was recorded. The result suggests that significant variation of the user’s EEG data occurred in the Alpha (8–13Hz) and Beta(14–30Hz) frequency band by different parallax’s comparison. And we found not only parallax but also electrode position can impact the user’s EEG data significantly. Accurately, the EEG data has a significant change in six electrodes position in both frequency bands including CZ, PZ, OZ, O2 in international 10–20 system. It means those electrode positions we detect can be regarded as typical positions where we record EEG signal. It will simplify the process of EEG signal acquisition when we need to study the relationship between parallax cue of 3D display and the user further.

Rapidly growing urbanization is putting more pressure on the well-being of citizens and the environment. Applying the latest ICT technology to address urban transport challenges is a key strategy to release the new innovation powerhouse of urbanization. This paper introduces a framework of future Innovative Urban Transport (IUT), to support next generation urban transport, based on IoT, 4G, Big Data, Cloud Computing and other novel ICT technologies. We present the construction of the framework, its reference architecture, and contribution to the environmental and socially important impacts. IUT aims to advance the existing smart city transport, to foster urban innovations that maximize the well-being of citizens while minimizing the negative effects like traffic congestion, air pollution high resource congestion, and traffic accidents. © 2016 IEEE.
