Computer vision and video analytics become increasingly important for intelligent transport systems (ITSs), and violation detection is one of the key points in ITSs. It is widely recognized that image based systems are flexible and versatile for advanced traffic monitoring and enforcement applications. In the proposed method, we first locate the tails from the images captured by a stationary camera, and then SURF(Speeded Up Robust Features) feature points are extracted from these tail images. A matching based rough detection stage is taken place to identify the high risk tails which are seen as violations and the low risk tails which are omitted as regular vehicles. Finally, color and shape information are taken advantages of to accomplish violation detection in the undetermined vehicles in the previous stage. Experiments are conducted using real live video sequences captured from an urban cross road. Results show that our method can potentially have a good performance.

Functional-structural plant models, however, emphasize the influence of light interception on biomass production, and consequently plant structure. In this paper, we integrate a light distribution model with GreenLab model, which used Beer-Law in computing biomass production. By replacing Beer-Law with a light interception model for biomass production, the combined model was able to simulate the effect of light condition on plant structure through source-sink regulation. The micro-blogs, as a new social media, possesses big differences with other social media on the aspect of information updating frequency, organization structure, user connection and etc, which have astonishing power of convergence and penetration. Based on this, it is proposed in this paper that Micro-Blog Public Opinion Index (MBPOI), which consists of five sub-indexes QI, II, RI, PI and CI (Quantity Index, Intensity Index, Relation Index, Polarity Index, Confidence Index) multi-dimensionally, is used to measure and evaluate the public topics and issues discussed in the micro-blogs. In the meanwhile, taking “ABB automatic world 2011” activity as example, the MBPOI prototype system is verified; it has been shown from the results that the MBPOI, which uses five sub-indexes method, owns much better effect by quantifying the topics/issues' influence in multi-dimensions and multi-levels, and provides effective micro-blogs analysis reports for monitoring and tracking the “ABB automatic world 2011” activity.

To improve the operation efficiency and service levels of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems, we propose a novel realtime BRT signal priority approach through two-stage green extension. For social justices, we control traffic signal lights under the people first principle after constructing BRT Internet of Things. This requests us to collect enough traffic information related to BRT vehicles, social vehicles, and in-vehicle passengers. We use DGPS/DR/MM to perceive BRT vehicles and use video cameras to perceive social vehicles and BRT passenger numbers. The perception data are then transmitted to the intersection signal controller through 3G wireless networks and optical fiber communication. In the application service layer, according to minimum green time, passive priority green time, and maximum green time, we divide green extension into two sequential stages based on different rules. In this way, we could balance traffic demands of BRT vehicles and social vehicles from each approach, and realize real-time BRT signal priority in a general sense.
