Security of online software upgrade has become one of the most important evaluation criteria of cyber security. It is too inefficient to evaluate the security of software upgrade by manual reverse analysis method, which requires high-level cryptography knowledge and reverse analysis ability of researchers. The universality of software upgrade vulnerability puts forward high requirements for efficient and automatic analysis methods. In this paper, we propose a program analysis method combining dynamic analysis and static analysis to automatically evaluate software upgrade security. By parsing the process of software online upgrade deeply, we establish the upgrade vulnerability models, and utilize the program analysis method to evaluate the upgrade security. The experimental result has shown that this method can evaluate the security of software upgrade accurately and quickly. © 2021 IEEE.

Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is widely used for the detection and diagnosis of various pathologies due to its non-invasive nature. However, its signal acquisition process is relatively slow and susceptible to motions. In order to accelerate reconstruction process, many deep learning-based methods have been developed in recent years to achieve promising results, while most of them are supervised based methods and require fully sampled data which are difficult to obtain in practical applications to train the network. Self-supervised based methods were proposed to deal with this problem to a certain extent, however, they are devoted only to conventional MRI data, ignoring the correlation between the directions of dMRI data. To address this issue, we propose a self-supervised fast reconstruction method for dMRI based on multi-directional assistance. The method better utilizes the information between dMRI data directions by Partition-Replace operation, cleverly constructing data pairs and designing effective self-supervised strategy for bi-directional prediction, which can overcome the problem of data incompleteness and guide the model to reconstruct unsampled signals in spite of the difficulty of acquiring fully sampled data. Experimental results show that our method achieves better reconstruction in the absence of fully sampled data, even with an 8-fold acceleration factor. © 2024 IEEE.

While deep learning has significantly advanced point cloud analysis, extracting effective features from their disordered structure remains challenging. Existing approaches often rely on complex network architectures or manual feature engineering to achieve rotation invariance, which increases inference latency. This paper offers a novel perspective on this challenge, showing that rotation-sensitive models can achieve performance comparable to rotation-invariant models when trained with rotation-augmented data. Given the significant differences in the feature distributions of rotation-sensitive and rotation-invariant models, we propose Feature Rotation Invariance Learning (FRIL), a framework that leverages Distance Metric Learning and rotation-based constraints to help rotation-sensitive models extract rotation-invariant features. This approach eliminates the need for additional modules, enabling robust performance against rotations. Extensive experiments demonstrate that FRIL consistently outperforms existing rotation-invariant methods across various visual tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

Industrial Control Systems (ICSs) are widely deployed in critical infrastructures, such as electric power, water filtration and distribution. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) work as the core components of an ICS. The offensive security technology of PLCs has attracted the popular interests of both attackers and researchers. In this paper, we firstly abstract a 4-layers model of PLC's implementation, and then summarize and classify attacks against PLCs into 5 types. Further, we point out the features and trends of the related attack studies, which is helpful to promote the research in the ICS security community and provide vital suggestions for defenders. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

AI-based foundation models like FourCastNet, GraphCast, ClimaX, and Pangu-Weather are revolutionizing weather and climate predictions but are not yet ready for operational use. Their limitation lies in the absence of a data assimilation system to incorporate real-time Earth system observations, crucial for accurately forecasting events like tropical cyclones and atmospheric rivers. To overcome these obstacles, we introduce a generic real-time data assimilation framework and demonstrate its end-to-end performance on the Frontier supercomputer. This framework comprises two primary modules: an ensemble score filter (EnSF), which significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art data assimilation method, e.g., the Local Ensemble Transform Kalman Filter (LETKF);and a vision transformer-based surrogate capable of real-time adaptation through the integration of observational data. We demonstrate both the strong and weak scaling of our framework up to 1024 GPUs on the Exascale supercomputer, Frontier. Our results not only illustrate the framework's exceptional scalability on high-performance computing systems, but also demonstrate the importance of supercomputers in real-time data assimilation for weather and climate predictions. Even though the proposed framework is tested only on a benchmark surface quasi-geostrophic (SQG) turbulence system, it has the potential to be combined with existing AI-based foundation models, making it suitable for future operational implementations. © 2024 IEEE.

The computational inefficiency of spiking neural networks (SNNs) is primarily due to the sequential updates of membrane potential, which becomes more pronounced during extended encoding periods compared to artificial neural networks (ANNs). This highlights the need to parallelize SNN computations effectively to leverage available hardware parallelism. To address this, we propose Membrane Potential Estimation Parallel Spiking Neurons (MPE-PSN), a parallel computation method for spiking neurons that enhances computational efficiency by enabling parallel processing while preserving the intrinsic dynamic characteristics of SNNs. Our approach exhibits promise for enhancing computational efficiency, particularly under conditions of elevated neuron density. Empirical experiments demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) accuracy and efficiency on neuromorphic datasets. Codes are available at https://***/chrazqee/MPE-PSN.

The Sum of Coherence System (SOCS) algorithm is commonly used to calculate the aerial images of partially coherent systems in the lithography simulation. However, computing the kernels of the SOCS algorithm presents significant memory and computational challenges when dealing with the large Transmission Cross Coefficient (TCC) matrix of the Hopkins model. In this paper, we propose a method that utilizes the stacked pupil shift matrix method and analytical circle-sampling functions decomposition to avoid direct computation and storage of the TCC matrix, thereby reducing the computational consumption for obtaining the kernels. Moreover, this method demonstrates flexibility by allowing arbitrary changes to the grid size of the kernels due to its analytical nature and shows adaptability for extension to a vector model. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our method and show that the use of analytical Fourier transforms mitigates many errors associated with discrete Fourier transform processes, further enhancing accuracy © 2015 IEEE.

Accurate brain tumor segmentation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images requires the integration of multimodal data in effective collaborative learning. However, clinical scenarios often face missing modalities, significantly impacting segmentation performance. In this paper, we propose the penta-encoder with medical transformer (Penta-MedTrans) for incomplete multimodal learning, which consists of four main components: a modality-specific encoder (MSE), a modality-dynamic encoder (MDE), a multimodal fusion module (MMFM) and a convolutional decoder. The MSE extracts unique features for each modality, while the MDE captures inter-modal semantics to address missing modalities. The MMFM establishes and aligns long-range correlations between modal-invariant features and global semantics of tumor regions. The convolutional decoder generates robust segmentation results by progressively upsampling and fusing modality-invariant features. We extensively validated our method on the BraTS 2020 and BraTS 2021 datasets for brain tumor segmentation. Results showed that our method outperforms SOTA for incomplete multimodal brain tumor segmentation across most subsets. © 2024 IEEE.

Feature selection in classification can be considered a multiobjective problem with the objectives of increasing classification accuracy and decreasing the size of the selected feature subset. Dominance-based and decomposition-based multiobjective evolutionary algorithms(MOEAs) have been extensively used to address the feature selection problem due to their strong global search capability. However, most of them face the problem of not effectively balancing convergence and diversity during the evolutionary process. In addressing the aforementioned issue, this study proposes a unified evolutionary framework that combines two search forms of dominance and decomposition. The advantages of the two search methods assist one another in escaping the local optimum and inclining toward a balance of convergence and diversity. Specifically, an improved environmental selection strategy based on the distributions of individuals in the objective space is presented to avoid duplicate feature subsets. Furthermore, a novel knowledge transfer mechanism that considers evolutionary characteristics is developed, allowing for the effective implementation of positive knowledge transfer between dominance-based and decomposition-based feature selection methods. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can evolve feature subsets with good convergence and diversity in a shorter time compared with 9 state-of-the-art feature selection methods on 20 classification problems.

The Distributionally Robust Optimization Model of Sparse Principal Component Analysis

We consider sparse principal component analysis (PCA) under a stochastic setting where the underlying probability distribution of the random parameter is uncertain. This problem is formulated as a distributionally robust optimization (DRO) model based on a constructive approach to capturing uncertainty in the covariance matrix, which constitutes a nonsmooth constrained min-max optimization problem. We further prove that the inner maximization problem admits a closed-form solution, reformulating the original DRO model into an equivalent minimization problem on the Stiefel manifold. This transformation leads to a Riemannian optimization problem with intricate nonsmooth terms, a challenging formulation beyond the reach of existing algorithms. To address this issue, we devise an efficient smoothing manifold proximal gradient algorithm. We prove the Riemannian gradient consistency and global convergence of our algorithm to a stationary point of the nonsmooth minimization problem. Moreover, we establish the iteration complexity of our algorithm. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness and scalability of our algorithm, as well as to highlight the necessity and rationality of adopting the DRO model for sparse PCA.
