Business stakeholders have expressed a great deal of interest in the idea of boosting the value of their companies by fusing them with the emerging metaverse notion. The metaverse is a brand-new phenomenon that will soon completely transform both the digital and physical environments. In light of this, the author creates a framework for how the metaverse alters the universe. To comprehend the value of the metaverse in relation to digital transformation, this research aimed to examine the effects of metaverse and marketing innovation based on empirical data on how companies use cutting-edge technology in conjunction with marketing initiatives and their impact on digital transformation. The quantitative analysis applied to explore the research model, a descriptive, exploratory and analytical research design applied using convenient sampling. 61 digital marketing agencies were approached located in Dubai. Data collected from 196 respondents were incorporated for analysis using SmartPLS 4.0. The findings suggest a positive significant relationship of metaverse and marketing innovation with digital transformation. © 2023 IEEE.

We conduct an eye tracking study to investigate perception text-embellished narrative visualizations under different task *** stimuli are data visualizations embellished with text-based elements:annotations,captions,labels,and descriptive *** consider three common viewing tasks that occur when these types of graphics are viewed:(1)simple observation,(2)active search to answer a query,and(3)information memorization for later *** overarching goal is to understand,at a perceptual level,if and how task affects how these visualizations are interacted *** analyzing collected gaze data and conducting advanced semantic scanpath analysis,we find,at a high level,diverse patterns of gaze behavior:simple observation and information memorization lead to similar optical viewing strategies,while active search significantly diverges,both in regards to which areas of the visualization are focused upon and how often embellishments are interacted *** discuss study outcomes in the context of embellishing visualizations with text for various usage scenarios.

In this paper, we present an integrated framework that combines Federated Learning (FL) with Homomorphic Encryption (HE) using the Artificial Intelligence (AI) models and the Cheon-Kim-Kim-Song (CKKS) algorithm to address the challenges of privacy and accuracy. FL facilitates collaborative training of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and MultiLayer Perceptron (MLP) models across decentralized devices, allowing for data privacy preservation without sharing raw data. The integration of the CKKS algorithm for HE ensures secure computation on encrypted data during the FL process. Our experimental results on three diverse datasets demonstrate the efficacy of this approach, achieving an impressive highest average accuracy of 97.3%. Additionally, the CKKS algorithm is used to achieve efficient computation, making it a promising solution for privacy-conscious machine learning applications, and paving the way for practical deployment in various real-world scenarios, thereby revolutionizing the landscape of privacy-preserving machine learning. © 2023, CC BY.

Open data is closely related to government, supporting transparency and accountability. The paper focus on DKI Jakarta government's open data website, which this website provides an accurate, open, centralized, and integrated database for e-government. This research will use three tools to help collect information for evaluation purpose. First is the Web Accessibility Evaluation tool (WAVE) which will help identify accessibility errors and the web content accessibility guideline. Then the second is the Webpage Test to analyze the website network and speed of loading when accessing the website. And the third use VisualEyes to see how attractive and clear the website is. The aim of this research is to identify the errors and malfunctions that occur and do not affect user comfort when accessing and improving the quality of the site in future. From the results of this research using WAVE, there is still a color contrast between the background and text, and some small errors were found. For now, the website's loading is quite fast, only 8.40 seconds, and the results from VisualEyes are quite high that is 77%, where the website is sufficient to be clear and aesthetically appealing.

Toward efficient resource utilization at edge nodes in federated learning

Federated learning (FL) enables edge nodes to collaboratively contribute to constructing a global model without sharing their data. This is accomplished by devices computing local, private model updates that are then aggregated by a server. However, computational resource constraints and network communication can become a severe bottleneck for larger model sizes typical for deep learning (DL) applications. Edge nodes tend to have limited hardware resources (RAM, CPU), and the network bandwidth and reliability at the edge is a concern for scaling federated fleet applications. In this paper, we propose and evaluate a FL strategy inspired by transfer learning in order to reduce resource utilization on devices, as well as the load on the server and network in each global training round. For each local model update, we randomly select layers to train, freezing the remaining part of the model. In doing so, we can reduce both server load and communication costs per round by excluding all untrained layer weights from being transferred to the server. The goal of this study is to empirically explore the potential trade-off between resource utilization on devices and global model convergence under the proposed strategy. We implement the approach using the FL framework FEDn. A number of experiments were carried out over different datasets (CIFAR-10, CASA, and IMDB), performing different tasks using different DL model architectures. Our results show that training the model partially can accelerate the training process, efficiently utilizes resources on-device, and reduce the data transmission by around 75% and 53% when we train 25%, and 50% of the model layers, respectively, without harming the resulting global model accuracy. Furthermore, our results demonstrate a negative correlation between the number of participating clients in the training process and the number of layers that need to be trained on each client’s side. Optimal Entanglement Distillation Policies for Quantum Switches

The quantum switch is a vital component for the development of the quantum internet. In an entanglement distribution network, the function of a quantum switch is to generate elementary entanglement with its clients followed by entanglement swapping to distribute end-to-end entanglement of sufficiently high fidelity between clients. The threshold on entanglement fidelity is any quality of service requirement specified by the clients as dictated by the application they run on the network. We consider a discrete time model for a quantum switch that attempts generation of fresh elementary entanglement with clients in each time step in the form of maximally entangled qubit pairs, or Bell pairs, which succeed probabilistically;the successfully generated Bell pairs are stored in noisy quantum memories until they can be swapped. We focus on establishing the value of entanglement distillation of the stored Bell pairs prior to entanglement swapping in presence of their inevitable aging, i.e., decoherence: For a simple instance of a switch with two clients, an exponential decay of entanglement fidelity, and a well-known probabilistic but heralded two-to-one distillation protocol, given a threshold end-to-end entanglement fidelity, we use the Markov Decision Processes framework to identify the optimal action policy - to wait, to distill, or to swap that maximizes throughput. We compare the switch's performance under the optimal distillation-enabled policy with that excluding distillation. Simulations of the two policies demonstrate the improvements that are possible in principle via optimal use of distillation with respect to average throughput, average fidelity and jitter of end-to-end entanglement, as functions of fidelity threshold. Our model thus helps capture the role of entanglement distillation in mitigating the effects of decoherence in a quantum switch in an entanglement distribution network, adding to the growing literature on quantum switches. © 2023, CC BY.

Despite significant cultural strengths and knowledge, Indigenous people around the world experience substantial health inequities due to the historic and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism. As information and communication technologies (ICTs) are increasingly used as part of health interventions to help bridge equity gaps, it is important to characterize and critically evaluate how ICT-facilitated health interventions are designed for and used by Indigenous people. This critical literature review queried articles from three archives focused on health and technology with the goal of identifying cross-cutting challenges and opportunities for ICT-facilitated health interventions in Indigenous communities. Importantly, we use the lens of decolonization to understand important issues that impact Indigenous sovereignty, including the incorporation of Indigenous Knowledge and engagement with data sovereignty.

In order for economies to expand and develop globally, innovation is essential. A popular statistic for evaluating innovation between countries is the Global Innovation Index (GII), which provides a thorough analysis of the state of innovation worldwide. In this context, this paper aims to contribute to the literature by examining the multi-factoral effects of the innovation ecosystem on innovation development (internal causal effects), and the impact of global trends and crises on the innovation ecosystem (external causal effects) in Montenegro. The resources provided in this paper offer valuable insights into the innovation landscape in Montenegro and the Western Balkans, as well as the impact of globalization, global trends, and crises on innovation in the region. The paper also discusses the function of innovation hubs such as the DigNest project, in promoting cooperation between academic institutions, government agencies and corporations, and supporting the exchange of knowledge and fresh concepts. © 2024 IEEE.

We introduce a novel updatable encryption scheme based on the RSA cryptosystem to address the challenges of key rotation in secure communication systems. Updatable encryption allows ciphertexts encrypted under an old key to be transformed into ciphertexts under a new key without decrypting the plaintext, thereby enhancing security without compromising data integrity or confidentiality. Our RSA-based scheme leverages the mathematical properties of RSA to enable efficient and seamless key updates. We provide a security analysis demonstrating that our scheme is not vulnerable to information leaking. Experimental results indicate that our method offers a practical and efficient solution for large-scale systems that require regular key updates, with minimal impact on computational resources and performance.

Looking for a set of minimum values is considering as an important part in reducing the computational complexity introduced by the conventional non-binary low-density parity-check (NB-LDPC) decoding algorithms. In which, looking for a set of four min-value has been using i $n$ recent NB-LDPC decoders. In this paper, a low-complexity architecture is proposed for the first four minimum values finder. Experimental results confirmed that the proposed design is able to achieve a high flexibility in adapting to changing input sequence size while maintaining a low hardware complexity.
