摘      要：A flash backward masking procedure was designed to overcome the problems that apparent movement cues create when measuring inspection time (IT). This was evaluated against the backward mask widely used in previous research. A significant increase in mean IT, together with subjects responses to a post-experiment questionnaire about strategy use, confirmed the effectiveness of the flash masking procedure. Correlations between IT and WAIS-R IQ scores were consistent with previous findings;-0.6 for IT-Performance IQ but not significant for IT Verbal IQ.
