Computer telephony integration (CTI) technology is primarily composed of three basic elements: the telephone system, the computer system, and the interactive voice response system. In recent years, CTI technology has seen much progress and continues to evolve to address the demand for more innovative applications. This technology is expected to further evolve into a new concept known as computer mediated communications (CMC). CMC features the use of an application computer to control multimedia interactive and messaging based communication.

A review of current issues in SIC device processing technology is followed by a critical assessment of the current state-of-the-art and future: potential for SiC power devices. Material quality, ion implantation, the SiC-SiO2 interface and the thermal stability of contacting systems are all identified as requiring further work before the full range of devices and applications call be addressed. The evaluation of current device technology reveals that SiC Schottky and PIN diodes are already capable of increased power densities and substantially improved dynamic performance compared to their Si counterparts. Although direct replacement of Si devices is not yet economically viable, improvements in system performance and reductions in total system cost may be realised in the short term. Widespread use will, however, require continued improvements in wafer quality while costs must fall by a factor of ten. Finally, the development of new and improved packaging techniques, capable of handling increased die temperature and high thermal cycling stresses, will be needed to fully exploit the potential of SIG.

In this paper, a framework is proposed for the analysis of systems of objects which exhibit state-based behaviour and multiple inheritance of that behaviour within class hierarchies. The approach proposed is based on a graphical notation which could form the basis for recursive analysis or synthesis of system specifications. In order to explore the impact of different architectures on software maintenance, we took the following approach: write two versions of the same application with differing architectures; implement the same specific changes to both versions; measure the cost of making each change using simple metrics; and compare the costs of each change between architectures, and also within the same architecture. For our example we chose a simple banking application which must operate on a number of different kinds of account.< >
