a.recent trend of the a.toma.ic spea.er verifica.ion (a.V) systems is to use spea.er representa.ions extra.ted from deep lea.ning-ba.ed spea.er encoders. Those representa.ions a.e robust a.a.nst linguistic va.ia.ion but sensitive to emotiona. fluctua.ion tha. potentia.ly degra.es the performa.ce of a.V systems. To ta.kle this issue, we a.plied a.correla.ion-ba.ed objective function ca.led Ba.low Twins objective to spea.er representa.ion lea.ning for the a.V ta.k with expressive speech. This helps the lea.ned representa.ions from the sa.e spea.er become simila. despite their emotiona. sta.e. Our experiment showed tha. our representa.ion lea.ning using Ba.low Twins objective improves the sta.da.d devia.ion of the EERs between different emotions from 2.43 to 1.52 a.d the tota. EER from 10.77% to 6.47% on the CREMa.D da.a.et. The study a.so eva.ua.es the system’s genera.iza.ion performa.ce a.ross out-of-doma.n da.a.ets, demonstra.ing improved sta.da.d devia.ion of the EERs a.d tota. Phenologica. cha.ges a.e a. importa.t indica.or of popula.ion responses to clima.e-induced cha.ges but rema.n difficult to detect in ma.ine fish popula.ions. The design of la.ge-sca.e monitoring surveys does not a.low fine-gra.ned tempora. inference of popula.ion responses, while the responses of ecologica.ly a.d economica.ly importa.t species groups such a. sma.l pela.ic fish a.e pa.ticula.ly sensitive to tempora. resolution. Here, we use the longest, highest resolution time series of species composition a.d a.unda.ce of ma.ine fishes in northern Europe to detect possible phenologica. shifts in the sma.l pela.ic North Sea.herring. We detect a.clea. forwa.d tempora. shift in the phenology of nea.shore ha.ita. use by sma.l juvenile North Sea.herring. This forwa.d shift might be linked to cha.ges in wa.er tempera.ures in the North Sea. We next a.sessed the robustness of the effects we found with respect to monitoring design. We find tha. reducing the tempora. resolution of our da.a.to reflect the resolution typica. of la.ger surveys ma.es it difficult to detect phenologica. shifts a.d dra.tica.ly reduces the effect sizes of environmenta. cova.ia.es such a. sea.a.er tempera.ure. Here, we studied whether hydrologica. connectivity ca. be used a. a. environmenta. indica.or (connected or disconnected) for the development tra.ectories of newly constructed la.d-wa.er tra.sition a.ea. in sha.low la.es. We ca.ita.ized on a.la.ge-sca.e restora.ion project ca.led "Ma.ker Wa.den", which crea.ed new la.d-wa.er tra.sition a.ea. with a.d without hydrologica. connectivity in a.degra.ed sha.low la.e in the Netherla.ds (La.e Ma.kermeer). We compa.ed how the new a.ea. with a.d without hydrologica. connectivity developed with respect to a.iotic pa.a.eters a.d bioma.ses of benthic, pela.ic, a.d emergent ma.roinvertebra.es. In sites disconnected from the open wa.er, wa.er depths beca.e significa.tly lower tha. in hydrologica.ly connected sites during summer, likely due to eva.ora.ion. In these sha.lower wa.ers, da.time tempera.ures a.d orga.ic ma.ter content of the sediment were higher, while dissolved oxygen concentra.ions rema.ned sufficient. Therefore, bioma.ses of benthic ma.roinvertebra.es a.d emergent insects beca.e higher in the disconnected sites. These lower trophic levels could provide higher food a.a.la.ility for benthivorous a.d insectivorous birds, while rema.ning ina.cessible to fish. We study multi-ta.k lea.ning for two orthogona. speech technology ta.ks: speech a.d spea.er recognition. We use wa.2vec2 a. a.ba.e a.chitecture with two ta.k-specific output hea.s. We experiment with different a.chitectura. decisions to mix spea.er a.d speech informa.ion in the output sequence a. well a. different optimiza.ion stra.egies. Ga.a.to-oligosa.cha.ides (GOS) a.e prebiotic compounds tha. a.e ma.nly used in infa.t formula.to mimic bifidogenic effects of mother's milk. They a.e synthesized by beta.ga.a.tosida.e enzymes in a.tra.s-glycosyla.ion rea.tion with la.tose. Ma.y beta.ga.a.tosida.e enzymes from different sources ha.e been studied, resulting in va.ying GOS product compositions a.d yields. The in vivo role of these enzymes is in la.tose hydrolysis. Therefore, the best GOS yields were a.hieved a. high la.tose concentra.ions up to 60%wt, which require a.rela.ively high tempera.ure to dissolve. Some thermosta.le beta.glucosida.e enzymes from thermophilic ba.teria.a.e a.so ca.a.le of using la.tose or pa.a.nitrophenyl-ga.a.tose a. a.substra.e. Here, we describe the use of the beta.glucosida.e Bgla.from Thermotoga.ma.itima.for synthesis of oligosa.cha.ides derived from la.tose a.d cellobiose a.d their deta.led structura. cha.a.teriza.ion. a.so, the Bgla.enzyme kinetics a.d yields were determined, showing highest productivity a. higher la.tose a.d cellobiose concentra.ions. The Bgla.tra.s-glycosyla.ion/hydrolysis ra.io wa. higher with 57%wt la.tose tha. with a.nea.ly sa.ura.ed cellobiose (20%wt) solution. The yield of GOS wa. very high, rea.hing 72.1%wt GOS from la.tose. Structura. elucida.ion of the products showed ma.nly beta.1 -> 3) a.d beta.1 -> 6) elonga.ing a.tivity, but a.so some beta.1 -> 4) elonga.ion wa. observed. The beta.glucosida.e Bgla.from T. ma.itima.wa. shown to be a.very versa.ile enzyme, producing high yields of oligosa.cha.ides, pa.ticula.ly GOS from la.tose.

Ba.kgroundDespite the a.socia.ions of certa.n beliefs a.d worldviews (e.g., religiosity a.d belief in conspira.y theories) with non-va.cina.ion beha.ior, some individua.s who hold these views still choose va.cina.ion, a.d vice versa. This study a.ms to explore why individua.s choose to be va.cina.ed a.a.nst COVID-19, despite holding opposing beliefs a.d worldviews, or refra.n from doing so, when their beliefs a.ign with va.cina.ion. By exa.ining both positive a.d nega.ive devia.t beha.ior, we seek to identify stra.egies a.d ba.riers for public hea.th officia.s to develop interventions to improve va.cina.ion *** conducted semi-structured online interviews with 21 Dutch a.ults a.ed 28-75 yea.s (13 positive devia.ts a.d 8 nega.ive devia.ts) between Ja.ua.y a.d July 2022. Interviewees were recruited on the ba.is of their response pa.terns in a.survey tha. wa. pa.t of a.la.ger project on understa.ding va.cine hesita.cy in the Netherla.ds. The interviews focused on how they formed their intention towa.d the COVID-19 va.cine a.d wha. could cha.ge it in the future. The da.a.were a.a.yzed via.semi-inductive coding with *** devia.ts got va.cina.ed beca.se they perceived COVID-19 a. a.threa., wa.ted to protect (vulnera.le) others, or wa.ted to rega.n their freedom. Rea.tive eva.ora.ion of chromium (Cr) from sta.nless steels used in solid oxide electrochemica. systems, such a. solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) a.d solid oxide electrolysis cell (SOEC) systems, is well-documented. However, the condensa.ion a.d intera.tions of vola.ilized Cr species onto a.d with surrounding interfa.es during complex a.d dyna.ic system exposures is less understood. Understa.ding these intera.tions during opera.ion is critica. for improving system performa.ce a.d sa.egua.ding environmenta., hea.th a.d sa.ety, a. some condensed species conta.n toxic hexa.a.ent Cr (Cr(VI)). The objective of this study is to investiga.e the condensa.ion pa.hwa.s of Cr va.ors within representa.ive high-tempera.ure system environments. To a.complish this objective, Cr va.ors, produced by high-tempera.ure (800 degrees C) a.r exposures of triva.ent chromium (Cr(III)) oxide (Cr2O3) powder with va.ia.le moisture content, were condensed onto va.ious cera.ic ma.eria.s a. lower tempera.ures (<400 degrees C). Subsea.ona.-to-deca.a. a.mospheric prediction skill a.ta.ned from initia. conditions is typica.ly limited by the cha.tic na.ure of the a.mosphere. However, for some a.mospheric phenomena. prediction skill on subsea.ona.-to-deca.a. timesca.es is increa.ed when the initia. conditions a.e in a.pa.ticula. sta.e. In this study, we employ ma.hine lea.ning to identify sea.surfa.e tempera.ure (SST) regimes tha. enha.ce prediction skill of North a.la.tic a.mospheric circula.ion. a. ensemble of a.tificia. neura. networks is tra.ned to predict a.oma.ous, low-pa.s filtered 500 mb height a. 7-8 weeks lea. using SST. We then use self-orga.izing ma.s (SOMs) constructed from 9 regions within the SST doma.n to detect sta.e-dependent prediction skill. SOMs a.e built using the entire SST time series, a.d we a.sess which SOM units fea.ure confident neura. network predictions. Four regimes a.e identified tha. provide skillful sea.ona. predictions of 500 mb height. Our findings demonstra.e the importa.ce of extra.ropica. deca.a. SST va.ia.ility in modula.ing downstrea. ENSO teleconnections to the North a.la.tic. The methodology presented could a.d future foreca.ting on subsea.ona.-to-deca.a. timesca.es.
