Surface properties of oxidized lignite and its application in congo red dye adsorption

Lignite is easily oxidized, and spontaneous combustion occurs during its storage, which greatly reduces its calorific value and affects its quality and economic benefits. The surface properties of the oxidized lignite including pore structure and oxygen-containing functional groups were investigated by N-2 adsorption/desorption isotherms and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The adsorption of Congo red dye in aqueous solution by oxidized lignite was carried out. It was observed that due to oxidation, the specific surface area and total pore volume of the Huolinhe lignite samples decreased, and the average pore size increased. As oxidation temperature increased, the number of microporous and mesoporous structures decreased, resulting in the decrease of fractal dimension. The hydroxyl content was negatively correlated with the oxidation temperature, but the carbonyl content showed an opposite trend. At the initial stage of oxidation, the rate of hydroxyl consumption is higher than that of formation. The reaction to generate carbonyl, such as the oxidation of aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohol hydroxyl groups and ethers, requires a higher reaction temperature, so the carbonyl content increased when the temperature was higher than 70 degrees C. Oxidized lignite was used to adsorb Congo red dye in aqueous solution, and the removal increased significantly with increasing oxidation temperature. Therefore, oxidized lignite can effectively remove Congo red dye from aqueous solution, so as to improve the economic benefit of oxidized lignite.

目的评价85岁及以上心房颤动(房颤)患者采用Watchman左心耳封堵的安全性和有效性。方法回顾性分析2016年8月至2020年12月在上海健康医学院附属周浦医院行Watchman左心耳封堵老年房颤患者515例,其中85岁及以上(85~91岁)患者73例,完成经食道超声心动图复查的44例(60.3%)为高龄组,同期60~65岁53例为对照组,比较两组患者基线资料、术中参数、抗栓治疗方案及1年随访预后的差异。结果高龄组患者房颤类型、缺血性脑卒中和(或)短暂性脑缺血发作病史与对照组比较差异无统计学意义(均P>0.05),冠心病、肾功能不全发病率更高,心力衰竭情况更严重。高龄组较对照组患者CHA2DS2-VASC和HAS-BLED评分增加,(6.0±1.5)分比(3.6±1.5)分和(3.2±1.2)分比(2.3±1.3)分(t值分别为7.682和3.871,均P<0.05);一站式手术率低,13.6%(6例)比50.9%(27例),差异有统计学意义(χ^(2)=10.517,P<0.05);左心耳封堵术中Watchman封堵器大小、更换封堵器和封堵器压缩比、残余分流两组比较差异无统计学意义(均P<0.05)。高龄组与对照组封堵器械相关血栓发生率4.5%(2/44)比3.8%(2/53),差异无统计学意义(P>0.05);12个月随访期间无新发缺血性脑卒中,短暂性脑缺血发作及脑出血,3例死于心力衰竭,1死于恶性肿瘤。结论85岁以上高龄房颤患者用Watchman行左心耳封堵安全可行,预防缺血性脑卒中和(或)短暂性脑缺血发作安全及有效,但需慎重评估心肾功能及身体状况以决定是否行左心耳封堵。

On-vine drying (passerillage) improves the quality of "Hutai No. 8" table grape wine: Focusing on phenolics, aromas, color and sensory attributes

On-vine drying (passerillage) was employed for Hutai No.8 table grapes with different water loss rates and that are used for winemaking to alter the qualities of wine. Results showed that on-vine drying increased sugar content, thereby elevating alcohol and glycerol contents in the resulting wine. A moderate drying treatment (D2, 18 % water loss) produced wine with optimal red color characteristics. The D2 wine contained abundant individual phenolics such as caffeic acid, salicylic acid, resveratrol, p-coumaric acid, and proanthocyanidin B1, which exhibited strong positive correlations with color parameters (a*, C*(ab) and triangle E*(ab)). Similar trends were observed in aroma compounds, with ethyl acetate, ethyl caproate, diethyl succinate, geraniol, linalool, 4-terpinenol, alpha-terpineol, and beta-ionone contents showing significant increment in D2, aligning with enhanced sensory evaluations of wines. Thus, improvement of wine quality can be achieved through moderate on-vine drying (18 % water loss), serving as a valuable reference for table grape winemaking.

Dry Coupling Aggravates Soil Drought and Atmospheric Aridity Over North China

The north China region frequently experiences drought during the warm season, significantly impacting the local water cycle and socioeconomic life. To better understand the role that local land-atmosphere (L-A) coupling plays in the modulation of drought, we utilize 40 years of the fifth generation of European Re-Analysis (ERA5) data set. With the aid of two metrics, that is, convective triggering potential (CTP) and low-layer humidity index (HI) that classify the local L-A coupling into four regimes, we identify days characterized by dry and wet coupling patterns in the region and define a standardized coupling drought index (SCDI) based on the relative number of dry and wet coupling days over a period of time. The results show that on the dry coupling day, the atmosphere exhibits a higher demand for moisture with an increased net radiation and surface sensible heat flux, and a reduced latent heat flux, so the dry coupling promotes drying. Similarly, the wet coupling promotes wetting. During the dry coupling events (i.e., multiple days with similar coupling states), the positive feedback between soil moisture and atmospheric humidity, along with atmospheric conditions unfavorable for precipitation, result in a continuous decrease in soil moisture and an increase in vapor pressure deficit, which sustain and intensify both soil drought and atmospheric aridity. In contrast, wet coupling events are conducive to drought recovery. The SCDI effectively captures the spatiotemporal evolution of drought across varying intensities, showing that dry and wet coupling play an important role in the persistence and recovery of drought in north China.

The effects of perceptual training on speech production of Mandarin sandhi tones by tonal and non-tonal speakers

This study examined the effects of perceptual training on the acquisition of sandhi tones by both tonal (Cantonese) and non-tonal (English) speakers. In the pre-and post-training tasks, participants were presented with two monosyllables in each trial and were asked to produce them as disyllables. During perceptual training, they heard trials of disyllabic words with and without sandhi rule applications and were trained to identify the two types of disyllabic words. Based on functional data analyses, Cantonese speakers improved in building up more detailed and native-like allotone representations and in turn exhibited more native-like speech production in many cases. However, American learners showed improvement mainly in the offset f0 values or the turning point, indicating that they might have failed to pay attention to the shape of the entire tonal contour during perceptual training. For tonal speakers, the improvement of allotone production occurred on both real and wug words, indicating that the perceptual training may lead to more accurate production of tone sandhi rules regardless of syllable types. American learners, however, might need more training to further modify the allotone representation to perform more accurate sandhi tone application, especially in wug words. Finally, phonetic bias did not correctly predict the success of allotone acquisition since other factors such as the acoustic cues used in processing allotones during perceptual training might have affected the learning results.

Association between the C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte index and metabolic syndrome: evidence from the 2003-2010 national health and nutrition examination survey

Background Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a global public health problem that significantly impacts human health and quality of life. The relationship between MetS and the C-reactive protein-albumin-lymphocyte (CALLY) index is uncertain. Methods This study analyzed the data of 7,534 individuals from the National health and Nutrition Examination Survey cycles (2003-2010 cycles). Weighted logistic regression and weighted restricted cubic spline (RCS) curve analyses were used to identify the relationships between the CALLY index and MetS, as well as its components. Results Of the 7,534 participants, 2,086 were diagnosed with MetS. The estimated prevalence of MetS decreased with an increase in the CALLY index (P < 0.001). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the odds ratio of MetS was 0.25 (95% confidence interval 0.20-0.32, P < 0.001) in the highest CALLY index quartile compared with the lowest quartile after adjusting for confounding variables. The RCS curve analysis revealed non-linear relationships between the CALLY index and MetS or its components. Conclusions This study revealed an inverse relationship between the CALLY index and MetS risk. The CALLY index might be valuable for identifying individuals who are at a high risk of MetS. The community structure of Rotifera was investigated in four areas,namely the water inlet area（Ia,1）,Sonneratia apetala area（Sa,2 and 3）,Phragmites australis area（Pa,4 and 5）,and water outlet area（Oa,6）,in Nansha Mangal-Wetland Park（NMP） in ***,such as the dominance index（Y）,Shannon Wiener Index（H'）,Margalef Index（D）,Saprobic index（S）,and Brachionus:Trichocerca quotient（/）,were considered.A total of 73 species of Rotifera were identified,and the abundance ranged from 4.5 to 2585.8 ind·L with significant seasonal *** angularis and Asplanchna *** the dominant species（Y>0.01）.Redundancy analysis（RDA） indicated that COD,dissolved oxygen（DO） were the most important factors regulating the community structure of the *** of the results using indexes such as H' showed large deviations from the results based on physicochemical *** results from/were not compatible,and the S index was found to be more suitable for water quality evaluation in the *** on the results,the Sa area was more eutrophic than the Pa area.

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) has an extremely poor prognosis. Recent studies have suggested that mitophagy-related genes (MRGs) are closely correlated with the development and occurrence of cancer, but the role they play in oral cancer has not yet been *** conducted a comprehensive analysis of integrated single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data retrieved from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Multiple methods were combined to provide a comprehensive understanding of the genetic expression patterns and biology of OSCC, such as analysis of pseudotime series, CellChat cell communication, immune infiltration, Gene Ontology (GO), LASSO Cox regression, gene set variation analysis (GSVA), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), Tumor Mutation Burden (TMB) and drug sensitivity assessments. The findings of this study demonstrated significantly greater activity of MRGs in NK cells than in other cells in OSCC. A reliable prognostic model was developed using 12 candidate genes strongly associated with mitochondrial autophagy. T stage, N stage and risk score were revealed as independent prognostic factors. Distinctively enriched pathways and immune cells were observed in different risk groups. Notably, low-risk patients were more responsive to chemotherapy. In addition, a nomogram model with excellent predictive ability was established by combining the risk scores and clinical features. The activity of MRGs suggest the potential for the development of new targeted therapies. The construction of a robust prognostic model also provides reference value for individualized prediction and clinical decision-making in patients with OSCC.

One-step preparation of boronic acid-rich hydrothermal spheres for N-glycopeptide analysis from preeclampsia serum

In this study, we developed a green, one-step hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) method that used water as the sole solvent to create boronic acid group-rich carbonaceous spheres (BCS). When the abundant boronic acid groups on the carbonaceous spheres react with the hydroxyl groups on the glycans in an alkaline environment, the glycopeptides are specifically captured. The results showed that BCS had excellent detection limits (0.1 fmol mu L-1), selectivity (1 : 1000), and stability (10 cycles). In addition, the BCS also demonstrated excellent glycopeptide enrichment capabilities in complex biological samples;219 glycopeptides attributed to 167 glycoproteins and 235 glycopeptides related to 166 glycoproteins in PE patient and normal pregnancy control serum were identified by nano LC-MS/MS, respectively. In addition, the molecular function of heparin binding and biological process of complement activation, positive regulation of immune response, and positive regulation of tumor necrosis factor production were significantly different between PE patients and healthy pregnant women according to gene ontology analysis, indicating that these may be associated with the development of PE.
