The development of a high-performance automatic test system (ATS) for multi-access rural radio (MARR) equipment is presented in this paper. The backbone of this testsystem is the AT-GPIB interface board which offers both software and hardware advances for the GPIB instrumentation interface. This low-cost and high-performance IEEE 488 interface has been integrated with low-cost but powerful 80386 and 80486 based IBM PC/AT compatible computers that have 16-bit plug-in slots to build very powerful but cost-effective instrument controllers. The test packages have been developed using Microsoft's DOS 5.0 and C 6.0 in order to achieve high portability and high throughput of testing. The testsystems are not only cost-effective but have also led to improvements in the quality of the equipment produced.

The general purpose automatic test system included the general purpose instruments and the special purpose test Unit Adapter (TUA). With the increasing types of the unit under test, the number of the TUA was increasing too, eventually leading to huge automatic test system. The main idea of this research is removing TUA and connecting the instrument and the equipment under test directly. So the volume of the ATS can be substantially reduced. At the same time, the power supply system is standardized and the testing software was fully generalized. The equipment of environmental simulation also realizes generally through a certain number of optical and electrical interfaces. The volume and quantity are reduced greatly. The portable general purpose automatic test system has all functions of existing ATS. The system reduces scale greatly and the volume of shared instrument resource is less than 0.3 m(3). The test results showed that the design was reasonable and met the real requirement.

Digital Array Module (DAM) is one of the key components of digital array radar (DAR). Usually, a DAR contains tens to hundreds of DAMs, which is making it increasingly difficult for human operators to test them in limited time. Therefore, the technique for automatictest of DAMs is in urgent demand. This paper presents a DAM automatic test system (ATS) that has proved successful in several radar test projects. We first analyze the requirement of automatictest according to characters of DAM. After that we propose a brief of comprehensive framework as well as the design scheme of hardware and software. We finally discuss the method of testing data acquisition and algorithm for calculating performance indexes. Application examples have shown that the system can meet the great demand of testing tasks with high automation, efficiency, and accuracy.

Also manual test cannot guarantee the adequacy of test requirements, completeness and reusability. In this paper a satellite automatic test system is designed based on the data transmission feature in satellite components. This automatic test system contains a formal language to describe the process of satellite test, a way automatically generates the test process and automatically interpret the results. The design has certain guiding significance to the industrialization of satellite automatictest.
