The World Health Organization's International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have developed a collaborative partnership to foster integration of assessment approaches for human health and ecological risks. This paper presents the framework developed by that group. Integration provides coherent expressions of assessment results, incorporates the interdependence of humans and the environment, uses sentinel organisms, and improves the efficiency and quality of assessments relative to independent human health and ecological risk assessments. The paper describes how integration can occur within each component of risk assessment, and communicates the benefits of integration at each point. The goal of this effort is to promote the use of this internationally accepted guidance as a basis for harmonization of risk assessment.

Many external signals influence growth cone motility, pathfinding, and the formation of synapses that lead to the final map formation of the retinotectal system. Chick temporal retinal ganglion cell axons (RGCs) collapse and retract after encountering posterior tectal cells in vitro. During this process lateral extensions appear along the RGC axonal shaft. Lateral extensions appear as nascent interstitial axonal branches and also as defasciculating growth cones that are trailing along the pioneer axon. RGC branching controlled by repellent tectal cues has recently been shown to be the critical event in retinotectal map development. The intracellular mechanism underlying this phenomenon, however, is not understood. Inhibiting RhoA with either C3 toxin or inhibiting p160Rock kinase, an effector of RhoA, with Y27632 inhibited collapse, retraction, and the number of axons that showed lateral extensions. Lateral extension length increased significantly. Inhibiting Rac1A and cdc42 with cell permeable peptide inhibitors did not inhibit collapse of growth cones, but did inhibit axon retraction. In addition, the number of axons that showed lateral extensions and lateral extension length were significantly reduced. A dynamic cytoskeleton is necessary to react to incoming guidance information. This study addresses the problems of how growth cone motility and branching or defasciculation are affected by Rho-GTPases as extracellular signals are transmitted to the cytoskeleton. A scheme of guidance and control is presented to meet the requirements for automatic landing of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) based on the airborne digital flight control system and radio tracker on ground station. An automatic landing system is realized for an unmanned aerial vehicle. The results of real time simulation and flight test are given to illustrate the effectiveness and availability of the scheme. Results meet all the requirements for automatic landing of the unmanned aerial vehicle.

While successive reports concerned with mental health services have emphasized the importance of continuing professional development for mental health nurses, there have been long-standing concerns about the provision of appropriate courses and opportunities for attendance. Drawing from a longitudinal study of the careers of a cohort of mental health diplomates, this paper focuses on fulfilment of their continuing education plans in the early post-qualification period. During the first 6 months, just under half the cohort had wanted to start a course but been unable to do so. For some, even at this early career stage, dissatisfaction with continuing education opportunities was cited as reason for leaving, or considering leaving, a first job. Reasons for starting courses included career progress and meeting the care-giving needs of the immediate work situation. Diplomates may need guidance on their continuing education needs;there was much uncertainty about plans to take courses and moreover, demand for courses which they had wanted to start but been unable to do so, was not always sustained.

By being holistic, inclusion implies the involvement of a wide variety of professionals coming from very diverse professional and institutional backgrounds. It will only find its unity in a common focus on the individual project and in the coherence of all participants' contributions, interactions and interrelationships. Because such coherent functioning is far from being spontaneous, the proposed analysis aims to identify some features contributing to the coherence of mainstream schooling situations and to the quality of the guidance of the assistant. It reveals that this coherence lies in the ability to define clearly what is expected by a mainstream education process, so that the different actors can combine an integrative perspective based on schools' needs and a participative approach based on children's needs. Secondly, it appears that guidance is likely to be appropriate to the child's needs if it is based in the coinvolvement of inter-individual and organizational contractual relationships. Finally, the analysis reveals that the coherence of a mainstream education process presupposes strategies through which equal cooperation systems, taking into account inter-individual dynamics as well as organisational logics, can be created.

In this paper, the necessity of coincident guidance for ultrawideband anti-radiation missile (ARM) is discussed. It is pointed out that energy receiver of the same aperture is the key problem for double mould guidance of ultrawideband passive home and infrared imaging home. The plan of ultrawideband microwave passive home applying to same aperture energy receiver is analyzed. Based on the principle of infrared imaging, the front plane array is chosen. The structure of a same aperture is designed. The test result shows that the implementation of the same aperture energy receiver is available.
