H. Gr. Wells said, \"Human history is in essence a history of ideas.\" I would propose that there are some ideas that must wait to be realized, whether for some new technology or simply the willingness to challenge the current understanding, and I believe this is the case for Randall\'s plaque (RP). The RP theory of stone pathogenesis is not new. As early as 1937 Alexander Randall, using a series of cadaveric kidneys, described interstitial papillary and medullary deposits of apatite (plaque) in approximately 20% of kidneys and in some cases stones attached to this plaque.1 Randall hypothesized this plaque was the perfect nidus for crystallization.

Advancement in science often results from a healthy exchange of ideas among scientists working on similar problems. This collaboration fosters a sense of community among the scientists and is crucial to the development of science. There is ample evidence that students benefit in many ways from collaborative learning as well (1-7). The healthy exchange of ideas within small groups not only increases interest among the participants but also promotes critical thinking. Students working in groups are able to retain information longer as well as think at a higher level (3). The shared learning gives students an opportunity to engage in discussion, take responsibility for their own learning, and become critical thinkers (4, 6), In fact, collaborative learning has been shown to have a positive impact on student attitudes toward chemistry (8). The traditional chemistry lecture, however, does not typically provide students with opportunities to exchange ideas about the material presented, especially if it is a large class (> 50 students). Instructors hesitate to adopt collaborative learning methods for a large class, fearing that the time used in promoting effective discussion among students may limit the content covered. Instructors of content-rich courses, such as chemistry, do need to strike a balance between presenting course content and promoting discussion of that content in the classroom. It is possible to achieve this balance as several authors adopting different models of group learning have shown (7-9).

We propose the use of specific dynamical processes and more in general of ideas from Physics to model the evolution in time of musical structures. We apply this approach to two Etudes by F. Chopin, namely Op.10 n.3 and Op.25 n.1, proposing some original description based on concepts of symmetry breaking/restoration and quantum coherence, which could be useful for interpretation. In this analysis, we take advantage of colored musical scores, obtained by implementing Scriabin's color code for sounds to musical notation.

The article presents the life and works of theoretical physicist Paul Dirach. It discusses his contributions to the development of quantum mechanics and equation for the electron as well as his unique style in theoretical physics which he practiced for almost 60 years including rectilinear logic, steam-hammer mathematical power, and baffling combination of intuition. It mentions that Dirach was born to Swiss parents but eventually took British nationality and was married to Margit Balázs.

Madam, Lichen sclerosus (LSc) is an acquired, chronic, inflammatory, fibrotic and atrophic, cutaneous disorder with a predilection for the genitals, where it is responsible for serious sexual dysfunction and physical morbidity and is associated with the development of squamous cell carcinoma. The underlying pathogenesis of LSc remains obscure; genetic, infective and environmental causes have been proposed. Considerable prominence has been given to the idea that LSc is an autoimmune disease.

The article comments on the article 'Reframing Consent for Clinical Research: A Function-Based Approach.' Topics discussed include the argument that the standard view in research ethics is that the function of informed consent is to respect individual autonomy, the absence of respect for individual autonomy on the authors' list of functions of consent and basic elements of informed consent in the standard view.

The editors of this special issue have commissioned us to bring together some of the conceptual and empirical research presented in six intriguing papers that illustrate the widening scope of mentalization. Our discussion will look at each paper in turn, but bring ideas and findings from the other papers into focus when relevant.
