Concrete brick material from Nambo sea sand and Nambo excavated sand

In Kendari City, there is Petoaha Village, Nambo district which is located on the coast. This area is unique because of the availability of Nambo sea sand and Nambo quarry sand mining. during this time, Nambo excavated sand was used by the community as an alternative material for concrete mixtures for housing and sea sand has not been used optimally by the community. This research is important to use Nambo sea sand which has been neglected as a concrete brick. This research is intended to utilize Nambo sea sand and Nambo excavated sand to make concrete bricks. Test objects are made to test the compressive strength and absorption of water. This research result concludes that concrete brick material from Nambo sea sand and Nambo excavated sand is suitable for use as a wall material because it has good quality and is profitable.

On Jalan Garuda, Petoaha Village, Nambo district, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province is located along the sea. In this area it is quite unique because there is beach sand and hill sand. Material of hill sand and beach sand is used by the community as concrete brick material. This research is important to find out the quality of concrete bricks made by the community of Petoaha sub-district. The results of this study are expected to provide information on compressive strength and absorbency of concrete brick water made by the people of Petoaha, so that the quality is known. This study aims to compare the compressive strength and absorbability of concrete brick material from 100% Nambo beach sand, concrete brick material from 100% Petoaha sand, and concrete brick material from 50% Nambo beach sand and 50% Petoaha sand. This study uses an experimental method. The stages of this research are as follows: (a) preparation of tools and materials; (b) manufacture of test items; (c) concrete treatment; (d) concrete testing, and (e) analysis and conclusions. This study concluded that the concrete brick material that is often made by the people of Kelurahan Petoaha is feasible to use.

Tiles compared to ceramic floors are sustainable building materials. This research is important to be able to find the formulation of tile making that is easily applied by the community, so that at least it can be used for its own needs and optimally it can be commercialized. This research is aimed at testing compressive strength and water absorption on tiles. This study uses an experimental method. This study concluded that the tiles were not in accordance with the desired quality of the slab. These tiles can be used with the condition that tiles are installed in rooms that tend to be less traversed by occupants of the house such as warehouses, terraces in the house, and terraces on the side of the house.

MAXIJ1820+070 is a low-mass X-ray binary with a black hole (BH) as a compact object. This binary underwent an exceptionally bright X-ray outburst from 2018 March to October, showing evidence of a non-thermal particle population through its radio emission during this whole period. The combined results of 59.5 h of observations of the MAXI J1820+070 outburst with the H.E.S.S., MAGIC and VERITAS experiments at energies above 200 GeV are presented, together with Fermi-LAT data between 0.1 and 500 GeV, and multiwavelength observations from radio to X-rays. Gamma-ray emission is not detected from MAXI J1820+070, but the obtained upper limits and the multiwavelength data allow us to put meaningful constraints on the source properties under reasonable assumptions regarding the non-thermal particle population and the jet synchrotron spectrum. In particular, it is possible to show that, if a high-energy (HE) gamma-ray emitting region is present during the hard state of the source, its predicted flux should be at most a factor of 20 below the obtained Fermi-LAT upper limits, and closer to them for magnetic fields significantly below equipartition. during the state transitions, under the plausible assumption that electrons are accelerated up to similar to 500 GeV, the multiwavelength data and the gamma-ray upper limits lead consistently to the conclusion that a potential HE and very-HE gamma-ray emitting region should be located at a distance from the BH ranging between 10(11) and 10(13) cm. Similar outbursts from low-mass X-ray binaries might be detectable in the near future with upcoming instruments such as CTA.

Some argue that complementing climate change mitigation measures with solar radiation management (SRM) might prove a last resort to limit global warming to 1.5 °C. To make a socially responsible decision on whether to use SRM, it is important to consider also public opinion, across the globe and particularly in the Global South, which would face the greatest risks from both global warming and SRM. However, most research on public opinion about SRM stems from the Global North. We report findings from the first large-scale, cross-cultural study on the public opinion about SRM among the general public (N = 2,248) and students (N = 4,583) in 20 countries covering all inhabited continents, including five countries from the Global South and five ‘non-WEIRd’ (i.e. not Western, Educated, Industrialised, Rich, and democratic) countries from the Global North. As public awareness of SRM is usually low, we provided participants with information on SRM, including key arguments in favour of and against SRM that appear in the scientific debate. On average, acceptability of SRM was significantly higher in the Global South than in the ‘non-WEIRd’ Global North, while acceptability in the ‘WEIRd’ Global North was in between. However, we found substantial variation within these clusters, especially in the ‘non-WEIRd’ Global North, suggesting that countries do not form homogenous clusters and should thus be considered individually. Moreover, the average participants’ views, while generally neither strong nor polarised, differed from some expert views in important ways, including that participants perceived SRM as only slightly effective in limiting global warming. Still, our data suggests overall a conditional, reluctant acceptance. That is, while on average, people think SRM would have mostly negative consequences, they may still be willing to tolerate it as a potential last resort to fight global warming, particularly if they think SRM has only minor negative (or even positive) impact

The results of gamma-ray observations of the binary system HESS J0632 + 057 collected during 450 hr over 15 yr, between 2004 and 2019, are presented. data taken with the atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes H.E.S.S., MAGIC, and VERITAS at energies above 350 GeV were used together with observations at X-ray energies obtained with Swift-XRT, Chandra, XMM-Newton, NuSTAR, and Suzaku. Some of these observations were accompanied by measurements of the H alpha emission line. A significant detection of the modulation of the very high-energy gamma-ray fluxes with a period of 316.7 +/- 4.4 days is reported, consistent with the period of 317.3 +/- 0.7 days obtained with a refined analysis of X-ray data. The analysis of data from four orbital cycles with dense observational coverage reveals short-timescale variability, with flux-decay timescales of less than 20 days at very high energies. Flux variations observed over a timescale of several years indicate orbit-to-orbit variability. The analysis confirms the previously reported correlation of X-ray and gamma-ray emission from the system at very high significance, but cannot find any correlation of optical H alpha parameters with fluxes at X-ray or gamma-ray energies in simultaneous observations. The key finding is that the emission of HESS J0632 + 057 in the X-ray and gamma-ray energy bands is highly variable on different timescales. The ratio of gamma-ray to X-ray flux shows the equality or even dominance of the gamma-ray energy range. This wealth of new data is interpreted taking into account the insufficient knowledge of the ephemeris of the system, and discussed in the context of results reported on other gamma-ray binary systems.
