Development of an Automatic Anti Pitching System (APS) Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) for Fish Mapping

The common problem occurs in fish mapping using autonomous surface vehicles (ASV) is pitching stability. Some researchers have indicated that problem affects the results of mapping. The target of this system is to design an Autonomous Pitching System (APS) for ASV using numerical simulation software. The simulation is done by implement APS into the system, producing an oscillatory motion from the ASV. For both dynamics of craft in short and long periods, APS with proportional controller (P), proportional-integral controller (PI), and proportional-integral-derivative controller (PID) are developed in order to minimize the oscillatory behaviour. It was found that for the short period dynamics, the APS with PI controller was the optimal controller, followed by the PID controller and then the P controller. For the long period dynamics, the APS with PID controller was optimal.

Background Medicinal plants are the fundamental unit of traditional medicine system in Nepal. Nepalese people are rich in traditional medicine especially in folk medicine (ethnomedicine), and this system is gaining much attention after 1995. The use of medicinal plants has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic as a private behavior (not under the control of government). A lot of misinterpretations of the use of medicinal plants to treat or prevent COVID-19 have been spreading throughout Nepal which need to be managed proactively. In this context, a research was needed to document medicinal plants used, their priority of use in society, their cultivation status, and the source of information people follow to use them. This study aimed to document the present status of medicinal plant use and make important suggestion to the concerned authorities. Methods This study used a web-based survey to collect primary data related to medicinal plants used during COVID-19. A total of 774 respondents took part in the survey. The study calculated the relative frequencies of citation (RFC) for the recorded medicinal plants. The relationship between plants recorded and different covariates (age, gender education, occupation, living place, and treatment methods) was assessed using Kruskal-Wallis test and Wilcoxon test. The relationship between the information sources people follow and the respondent characteristics was assessed using chi-square test. Results The study found that the use of medicinal plants has increased during COVID-19 and most of the respondents recommended medicinal plants to prevent COVID-19. This study recorded a total of 60 plants belonging to 36 families. The leaves of the plants were the most frequently used. The Zingiber officinale was the most cited species with the frequency of citation 0.398. Most of the people (45.61%) were getting medicinal plants from their home garden. A Benchmark Model for Predicting Building Energy and Daylight Performance in The Early Phase of Design Utilizing Parametric Design Exploration

Along with the enormous impact on computational development in architecture and urban design, the way in approaching the built environment is shifting and intended to look closer to performance and evidence-based design. This development holds promise in handling complex computation to approach desired targeted design goals. However, the implementation of form-finding and design performance optimization still lacks, particularly in Japan's sub-tropical climate. This paper describes the parametric design and design exploration process's implementation through the generative algorithm platform to develop a benchmark model to predict building energy and daylight performance and find possible design solutions from the iteration process during the early phase of the design process. The variables incorporated related to the glazing ratio, the length of the overhang, and building orientation. Grasshopper, a parametric-based plugin that works in Rhinoceros, is used to arrange a parametric definition for the overall experiment. The tools used to investigate the environmental analysis and energy consumption are Ladybug and Honeybee, and the exploration process will be conducted using Design Explorer. The context will be situated in Orio district and uses the EPW file of Kitakyushu city, Fukuoka, Japan. The results of this research furthermore can potentially be a comparison for more dynamic factors.

At this time began to be revived the use of local materials. This is based on aesthetic and economic considerations. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to examine the knowledge of the utilization of local resources, especially nipah leaves. In Petoaha Sub District, Abeli District, Kendari City is located Kampung KB (Family Planning). Kampung KB is a former village of Bajo ethnic landed (formerly living on water). Mothers in Kampung KB are busy making roof material from nipah leaves. The leaves are taken from the palm trees that grow around Kampung KB. The phenomenon in the field that leaves soaked in sea water for 1-3 days before the roof is made. According to them that the leaves are soaked in sea water has a long lifetime compared to leaves that are not soaked in sea water. Based on their experience that watersoaked leaves have a lifetime for 3-4 years, can even reach 6-7 years when the roof thickness reaches 10 layers of palm leaves. Nipah leaves do not soak sea water has age wear for 2-3 years. This research is aimed to test the nipah leaf of marine water and nipah leaves do not soak the sea water against the period of usage. Metode plate count digunakan dalam penelitian ini. The plate count method to test the total microbial between fresh nipah leaf and nipah leaves is soaked in sea water. This study concluded that the bacteria on the nipah leaf soak the sea water is lower. Nipah leaves soaked sea water has a lifetime longer than nipah leaves do not soak sea water made roof material.

Tiles compared to ceramic floors are sustainable building materials. This research is important to be able to find the formulation of tile making that is easily applied by the community, so that at least it can be used for its own needs and optimally it can be commercialized. This research is aimed at testing compressive strength and water absorption on tiles. This study uses an experimental method. This study concluded that the tiles were not in accordance with the desired quality of the slab. These tiles can be used with the condition that tiles are installed in rooms that tend to be less traversed by occupants of the house such as warehouses, terraces in the house, and terraces on the side of the house.

On Jalan Garuda, Petoaha Village, Nambo District, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi Province is located along the sea. In this area it is quite unique because there is beach sand and hill sand. Material of hill sand and beach sand is used by the community as concrete brick material. This research is important to find out the quality of concrete bricks made by the community of Petoaha sub-district. The results of this study are expected to provide information on compressive strength and absorbency of concrete brick water made by the people of Petoaha, so that the quality is known. This study aims to compare the compressive strength and absorbability of concrete brick material from 100% Nambo beach sand, concrete brick material from 100% Petoaha sand, and concrete brick material from 50% Nambo beach sand and 50% Petoaha sand. This study uses an experimental method. The stages of this research are as follows: (a) preparation of tools and materials; (b) manufacture of test items; (c) concrete treatment; (d) concrete testing, and (e) analysis and conclusions. This study concluded that the concrete brick material that is often made by the people of Kelurahan Petoaha is feasible to use.

Built environment and parking pricing: Probability on changing mode choice in Bandung urban area

Bandung as an urban area in the centre of Metropolitan Bandung Raya and the centre of various activities generate high movement of trips, especially the movement from commuters. The more trips use motorized vehicles, the more people need parking lots. In consequences, the massive movement using private vehicle and the use of on-street parking causes congestion in Bandung Urban Area because of the increasing of road capacity. Previous research proved that one factor to reduce private vehicle user mode choice behaviour is by having a strong strategy in parking. Hence the parking pricing is one of the most effective parking strategies in influencing driver behaviour. The binary logit regression model is used to identify the behaviours of private vehicle users and to investigate the probability of private vehicle drivers shifting to mass transportation particularly for commuter's trip. This paper surveyed 200 commuters through revealed and stated preference in Bandung Centre Area. The best model is the model with the highest significance number shown from the Neglekerke R square number. The response keeps using private vehicle and parking in the existing area has the highest significance number which is 0,59. The model from the response is Ln P/1-P = 4.356 -1,550 (X1.1)- 1,279 (X1.2) – 0,01 (X2). The variables in this model are a medium compact area (X1.1), a compact area (X1.2) and parking pricing strategy (X.2). The result can assist decision-makers on all levels to wisely allocate resources to public transportation improvement, and optimization of parking pricing strategy, especially in Bandung Urban Area.

Increasing population has resulted in increased housing needs, but currently the available land for housing is decreasing. In addition, climate change has resulted in rising sea levels. With these three problems, it is necessary to develop a place to live with limited land and utilize the potential of Indonesian waters. The efforts that have been made by the current government by building settlements vertically, but have not been able to meet the needs of the residence. One type of house that can be developed by utilizing the potential of the waters is floating houses. A floating house is a residential building that is built on water by applying floating structures, materials, and shapes to suit the construction site. The floating house will function properly with proper planning, especially in the selection of technology at the bottom, floats, and the stability of the building above the water. Besides technology, other things that need to be taken into consideration are the selection of materials and the selection of the type of structure that will be applied. This technological innovation is expected to be able to meet the needs of residences that can utilize the territorial waters.

Kampung kota is a type of Indonesian residential that is occupied by a large portion of urban dwellers. According to Pauline (1993) Kampung kota is still considered to have a social interaction habit as mutual assistance among the residences called gotong royong [1]. Despite the effort to plan the formal residential area, most kampung kota is categorized as slum and squatter areas. There are a lot of improvement programs initiated by the government to create a better kampung kota. One of the programs in Surakarta is located in neighborhood one (RW 1), Pasar Kliwon District. The residents were given temporary living space in kampung sub-communal RISHA Mojo before they were moved into the new area of Kampung Metal in Semanggi sub-district. Kampung Sub-Communal RHISA Mojo in Surakarta is a temporary housing area provided by the government to support the kampung improvement program in the residents' old area. Living in communal housing is not directly being guaranteed with decent hygiene environment. When the COVID-19 pandemic occurred in 2020, the residents were dealing with hygiene issues. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to show how social design at Bangkit Berbarengan Project that initiated by academicians of URDC Laboratory and NGO of ARKOM Solo in Surakarta becomes a strategy to improve the environmental quality in the sub-communal area, especially in the pandemic era. Social design thinking is to keep the human need approach and in formalistic approach of design that concern more about inclusivity (Sommer, 1983)[2]. This paper will discuss the approach of the social design process that applies actor-network as a method of knowledge. The case study of the social design project creates social dynamic assemblies and engages multi-stakeholders. Oxidation ditch reactor is wastewater treatment unit that based on activated sludge process. Water flow characteristic inside reactor is either completely-mixed reactor or plug flow reactor. Water flow characterization plays important role in wastewater treatment process. To ensure the biological process going well, the water flow in reactor must be completely mixed type. Characterization study of water flow in reactor consume time thus financial, so the simulation using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) becomes a good solution. Based on the calibrated model, the CFD simulation was generate to define the water flow characteristic of the oxidation ditch reactor in longitudinal section. The simulation was conducted using VoF (Volume of Fluid) scheme, an open surface model in unsteady flow with k-epsilon turbulence model. The simulation result shows that water flow inside the oxidation ditch reactor was plug flow. The role of aeration system is to increase water flow to be more homogen, indicated by higher effective volume inside the reactor. The simulation result shows that the aerator could increase effective volume inside the reactor from 32,94% into 55,5%. The higher effective volume means dead zone inside the reactor is reduced.
