Driving behavior safety analysis in edge computing involves the real-time collection and processing of vehicle driving data. Fuzzy models have advantages in analyzing driving behavior due to their excellent ability to handle uncertain information. This study develops a multitask discriminative Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model (MD-TS-FM) for driving behavior safety assessment. To comprehensively analyze the correlation and differences in multitask driving behaviors, the designed consequent part consists of two parts: task-shared part reflects the shared intrinsic structure information that are consistent across different driving tasks, and task-specific part reflects distinct characteristics and variations specific to each task, allowing the model to address the unique aspects of different driving behaviors. Accordingly, the task-shared consequent part is characterized by low-rank property, which mines global structural information within the fuzzy space;whereas the task-specific consequent part exhibits sparsity, which removes non-discriminative and irrelevant information. This sparsity ensures that the model focuses on the most critical features for each specific task. Furthermore, a discriminative diversity term is introduced to enhance the diversity between tasks, which explores the consistent information of task-shared consequents while reducing the overlap of task-specific consequents. Experimental results indicate that the MD-TS-FM model can be effectively applied to driving behavior safety assessment. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Recently, the task of contactless physiological signal monitoring based on deep learning technologies has attracted a large number of scholars. However, few studies focus on the application of real-world scenarios, especially in clinical medicine scenes. In this paper, a novel video-based contactless respiratory rate measurement algorithm is developed for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients. Firstly, a large-scale clinical real-world database towards ICU patient is collected in this study. Then, based on the dataset, the unsupervised learning is first introduced to extract the respiration waveform from the chest area of patients. Lastly, a respiratory rate estimator based on neural networks is proposed and trained on a periodical physiological signal simulation dataset, and utilizes the transfer learning technique to extract the respiratory rate from only 10-second respiration waveform. We obtained estimated respiratory rate with an MAE of 2.8 breaths/min and an STD of 3.0 breaths/min against the reference value computed from the specialized medical device. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed methods achieve competitive results over state-of-the-art (SOTA) method in the real-world scenario.

To investigate the potential of a hybrid multi-instance learning model (TGMIL) combining Transformer and graph attention networks for classifying gastric adenocarcinoma differentiation on whole-slide images (WSIs) without manual annotation. A hybrid multi-instance learning model is proposed based on the Transformer and the graph attention network, called TGMIL, to classify the differentiation of gastric adenocarcinoma. A total of 613 WSIs from patients with gastric adenocarcinoma were retrospectively collected from two different hospitals. According to the differentiation of gastric adenocarcinoma, the data were divided into four groups: normal group (n = 254), well differentiation group (n = 166), moderately differentiation group (n = 75), and poorly differentiation group (n = 118). The gold standard of differentiation classification was blindly established by two gastrointestinal pathologists. The WSIs were randomly split into a training dataset consisting of 494 images and a testing dataset consisting of 119 images. Within the training set, the WSI count of the normal, well, moderately, and poorly differential groups was 203, 131, 62, and 98 individuals, respectively. Within the test set, the corresponding WSI count was 51, 35, 13, and 20 individuals. The TGMIL model developed for the differential prediction task exhibited remarkable efficiency when considering sensitivity, specificity, and the area under the curve (AUC) values. We also conducted a comparative analysis to assess the efficiency of five other models, namely MIL, CLAM_SB, CLAM_MB, DSMIL, and TransMIL, in classifying the differentiation of gastric cancer. The TGMIL model achieved a sensitivity of 73.33% and a specificity of 91.11%, with an AUC value of 0.86. The computer vision (CV) is an emerging area with sundry promises. This communication encompasses the past development, recent trends and future directions of the CV in the context of deep learning (DL) algorithms-based object detections and localizations techniques. To identify the object location inside an image and recognize it by a computer program as fast as the human brain the machine learning and DL techniques have been evolved. However, the main limitations of the machine are related to the prolonged time consumption to handle vast amount of data to perform the same task as the human brain. To overcome these shortcomings, the convolution neural networks (NNs)-based deep NN has been developed, which detects and classifies the object with high precision. To train the deep NNs, massive amount of data (in the form of images and videos) and time is needed, making the computational cost of the CV very high. Thus, transfer learning techniques have been proposed wherein a model trained on one task can be reused on another linked task, thereby producing excellent outcomes. In this spirit, diverse DL-based algorithms have been introduced to detect and classify the object. These algorithms include the region-based convolutional NN (R-CNN), fast R-CNN, Faster R-CNN, mask E-CNN and You Only Look Once. A comparative evaluation among these techniques has been made to reveal their merits and demerits in the CV. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The share prices of listed companies in the stock trading market are prone to be influenced by various events. Performing event detection could help people to timely identify investment risks and opportunities accompanying these events. The financial events inherently present hierarchical structures, which could be represented as tree-structured schemes in real-life applications, and detecting events could be modeled as a hierarchical multi-label text classification problem, where an event is designated to a tree node with a sequence of hierarchical event category labels. Conventional hierarchical multi-label text classification methods usually ignore the hierarchical relationships existing in the event classification scheme, and treat the hierarchical labels associated with an event as uniform labels, where correct or wrong label predictions are assigned with equal rewards or penalties. In this paper, we propose a neural hierarchical multi-label text classification method, namely F-HMTC, for a financial application scenario with massive event category labels. F-HMTC learns the latent features based on bidirectional encoder representations from transformers, and directly maps them to hierarchical labels with a delicate hierarchy-based loss layer. We conduct extensive experiments on a private financial dataset with elaborately-annotated labels, and F-HMTC consistently outperforms state-of-art baselines by substantial margins. Optical intelligent reflecting surface (OIRS) has been considered a promising technology for visible light communication (VLC) by constructing visual line-of-sight propagation paths to address the signal blockage issue. However, the existing works on OIRSs are mostly based on perfect channel state information (CSI), whose acquisition appears to be challenging due to the passive nature of the OIRS. To tackle this challenge, this paper proposes a customized channel estimation algorithm for OIRSs. Specifically, we first unveil the OIRS spatial coherence characteristics and derive the coherence distance in closed form. Based on this property, a spatial sampling-based algorithm is proposed to estimate the OIRS-reflected channel, by dividing the OIRS into multiple subarrays based on the coherence distance and sequentially estimating their associated CSI, followed by an interpolation to retrieve the full CSI. Simulation results validate the derived OIRS spatial coherence and demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed OIRS channel estimation algorithm.

Under the background of the in-depth implementation of the Rural Revitalization Strategy, the conditions of public service facilities for the elderly have improved significantly in rural areas. However, the problem is that the asymmetry between the intelligent management and construction of the corresponding elderly care services is more prominent. It leads to the lagging management of elderly care services, poor service information, and other problems. In order to solve the above series of problems, we propose an IoT-based rural community elderly care service management system, which can effectively assist community elderly care. The designs of structure, function, and key technologies are discussed in this article. To provide more timely and accurate services for the elderly, the system can realize real-time data collection of behavior, vital signs, and the surrounding environment of the elderly, monitor and warn of abnormal situations.

This work presents an innovative approach to integrating restricted rationality and strategic manipulation into multi-attribute decision-making in product style design, resulting in more precise and objective outcomes. The suggested approach employs cloud model clustering and unsupervised Single-Valued Neutrosophic Sets (SVNS). SVNS is derived by constructing pairwise comparison ratio square matrices between baseline attributes and prospective alternatives, following the scientific clustering of decision experts. SSVNC denotes the degrees of real, false, and questionable membership. The relative weights of the standard attributes are established by analysing the evaluation outcomes of different solutions for each common trait. Cloud model clustering is employed to exclude conflicting and unreasonable experts, hence attaining precise weights for design judgements. This model incorporates multi-granularity linguistic factors. The integration of the significance of generic attributes and human assessment yields a composite score for each prospective response. The feasibility and efficacy of the proposed strategy are demonstrated through a case study in automotive design aesthetics. The results emphasise the method's capability to safeguard against nefarious strategic manipulation and effectively address complex and confusing multi-attribute decision-making challenges in vehicle stylistic design. © 2024 The Authors. Pressure ulcers (PUs) are a common problem associated with great morbidity and cost. Because of the lack of professional personnel in the institutions or home care system, the diagnosis and treatment of PUs were sometimes delayed. We aim to develop an automatic tissue classification and severity evaluation system of PUs using AI technology. All PU images were collected from patients in the Far Eastern Memorial Hospital (FEMH) in recent 3 years and labeled according to different tissue types. The labeled images were used to train the tissue segmentation model with U-net convolutional neural network (CNN). The percentage of the different tissue can be calculated automatically and would be compared with the manually labeled one. The output of tissue classification was transformed to a clinical decision support system (CDSS) with a rule-base formula. Our study showed that proposed system can classify each tissue automatically and reach an accuracy about 93.6%. However, the CDSS's accuracy rate was only 64% for the referral suggestion and 62% for the care recommendation. Hence, the system should be modified with more data and information. © 2021 ACM.

Heating in the ocean has continued in 2024 in response to increased greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere,despite the transition from an El Ni?o to neutral conditions. In 2024, both global sea surface temperature(SST) and upper2000 m ocean heat content(OHC) reached unprecedented highs in the historical record. The 0–2000 m OHC in 2024exceeded that of 2023 by 16 ± 8 ZJ(1 Zetta Joules = 1021 Joules, with a 95% confidence interval)(IAP/CAS data), which is confirmed by two other data products: 18 ± 7 ZJ(CIGAR-RT reanalysis data) and 40 ± 31 ZJ(Copernicus Marine data,updated to November 2024). The Indian Ocean, tropical Atlantic, Mediterranean Sea, North Atlantic, North Pacific, and Southern Ocean also experienced record-high OHC values in 2024. The global SST continued its record-high values from2023 into the first half of 2024, and declined slightly in the second half of 2024, resulting in an annual mean of 0.61°C ±0.02°C(IAP/CAS data) above the 1981–2010 baseline, slightly higher than the 2023 annual-mean value(by 0.07°C ±0.02°C for IAP/CAS, 0.05°C ± 0.02°C for NOAA/NCEI, and 0.06°C ± 0.11°C for Copernicus Marine). The record-high values of 2024 SST and OHC continue to indicate unabated trends of global heating.
