Formation of galvanic cells between constituent phases is largely responsible for corrosion in Mg-based *** develop a methodology to calculate the electrochemical potentials of intermetallic compounds and alloys using a simple model based on the Born-Haber *** electrochemical potentials are used to predict and control the formation of galvanic cells and minimize *** demonstrate the applicability of our model by minimizing galvanic corrosion in Mg-3wt%Sr-x Zn alloy by tailoring the Zn *** methodology proposed in this work is applicable for any general alloy system and will facilitate efficient design of corrosion resistant alloys.

Ternary polymer solar cells based on a thiazolothiazole-based polymer donor(PTzBT)and a fullerene acceptor(PC61BM)have attracted attention because they show high efficiency and stability by addition of a non-fullerene acceptor(ITIC).However,the performance improvement mechanism is not completely ***,we show the stability improvement mechanism due to less charge accumulation in the PTzBT cells with ITIC using operando electron spin resonance from a microscopic *** observed two correlations between device performance and number of spins(N_(spin))under solar *** correlation is the decrease in short-circuit current and the N_(spin) increase in electrons on PC_(61)BM and holes in PTzBT,where the ITIC addition causes the less these N_(spin).The other correlation is the increase in open-circuit voltage and the N_(spin) decrease in holes in *** findings explain the stability improvement mechanism,showing the correlation between less charge accumulation and higher stability,which is valuable for the development of further efficient and stable polymer solar cells.

Spacecraft pose estimation is an essential contribution to facilitating central space mission activities like autonomous navigation, rendezvous, docking, and on-orbit servicing. Nonetheless, methods like Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM), and Particle Filtering suffer significant drawbacks when implemented in space. Such techniques tend to have high computational complexity, low domain generalization capacity for varied or unknown conditions (domain generalization problem), and accuracy loss with noise from the space environment causes such as fluctuating lighting, sensor limitations, and background interference. In order to overcome these challenges, this study suggests a new solution through the combination of a Dual-Channel Transformer Network with Bayesian Optimization methods. The innovation is at the center with the utilization of EfficientNet, augmented with squeeze-and-excitation attention modules, to extract feature-rich representations without sacrificing computational efficiency. The dual-channel architecture dissects satellite pose estimation into two dedicated streams—translational data prediction and orientation estimation via quaternion-based activation functions for rotational precision. Activation maps are transformed into transformer-compatible sequences via 1×1 convolutions, allowing successful learning in the transformer's encoder-decoder system. To maximize model performance, Bayesian Optimization with Gaussian Process Regression and the Upper Confidence Bound (UCB) acquisition function makes the optimal hyperparameter selection with fewer queries, conserving time and resources. This entire framework, used here in Python and verified with the SLAB Satellite Pose Estimation Challenge dataset, had an outstanding Mean IOU of 0.9610, reflecting higher accuracy compared to standard models. Accurate estimation of calorie content in meals is essential for promoting healthy dietary practices and supporting healthcare efforts. However, the lack of nutritional knowledge poses challenges for individuals in estimating the calorie content of foods. This study aims to develop a deep learning-based model for estimating the calorie content of real foods through image classification and segmentation techniques. Image classification was employed to identify various one-dish Thai menus, while image segmentation categorized food components into fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. A new dataset, consisting of 15 one-dish Thai menus, was created using a combination of publicly available datasets (THFOOD-50 and FoodyDudy) and self-collected images. Nutritional analysis was based on the Thai nutritional table from the Bureau of Nutrition, Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. We compared the performance of YOLOv5x, YOLOv8x, and YOLOv9e on the ThaiFood dataset using identical hyperparameters. The results showed that YOLOv8x achieved the highest mAP@0.5 of 0.883, with an accuracy of 0.829 and a recall of 0.902. YOLOv5x closely followed with a mAP@0.5 of 0.881, an accuracy of 0.822, and a recall of 0.945. YOLOv9e demonstrated competitive performance, achieving a mAP@0.5 of 0.846, an accuracy of 0.775, and a recall of 0.91. These findings highlight YOLOv8x as the most suitable model for Thai food classification and detection tasks under the evaluated conditions. © 2025 IEEE.

Blockchain technology has garnered increasing attention from researchers. Because blockchain systems may contain malicious or spatially limited nodes that may delay block verification and reduce block transmission rate, this work proposes a block transmission model by designing and using special clusters. This work proposes the cluster formation and selection mechanisms. Nodes are grouped into clusters in a blockchain, and clusters with high fitness values are chosen to transmit blocks by calculating their trust values and block transmission rates. The proposed method is compared with the peers: Layer-Chain, BlockP2P-EP and RNS. According to experimental findings, the proposed method is superior to its peers regarding the time needed for block synchronization and transmission, block occupation storage ratio, transaction throughput, and block transmission success ratio. © 2024 IEEE.

The orbital-scale variability of the Indian summer monsoon(ISM)has been influenced by multiple factors,such as atmospheric CO_(2)concentration,global ice volume,and *** for weathering activity and paleo-productivity provide potential insights into the driving forces of its *** documented multi-proxy data at IODP Site U1445,located in the Mahanadi Basin of the northwestern Bay of Bengal,to find out ISM variability over the last 200 *** proxy records,such as Nd/Sr isotopes of detrital particles,clay mineral compositions of the fine-grained sediments,biogenic opal and CaCO_(3),organic carbon contents,and carbon isotopes of organic matter,represent sediment sources,weathering patterns,and paleo-productivity related to the ISM *** Nd/Sr isotope data and clay mineral compositions suggest that the sediments at Site U1445 originated mainly from the Ganges,Brahmaputra,and Meghna rivers without dramatic provenance change between the glacial and interglacial *** weathering activity inferred from clay mineral compositions and the paleo-productivity shift reconstructed by biogenic opal and CaCO_(3)contents suggest that the land-sea interactions were closely linked to the ISM precipitation between the glacial and interglacial *** precipitation by the strong ISM resulted in intense chemical weathering and dominant biogenic opal deposition during the interglacial *** contrast,low precipitation by the weak ISM led to reduced chemical weathering and predominant CaCO_(3)deposition during the glacial ***,the ISM variability driving the land-sea interactions in the Mahanadi Basin was modulated by the Indonesian throughflow(ITF).Our study emphasizes the role of low-latitude forcing of climatic changes in the strong relationship between the ISM and ITF over orbital periods,providing a base for future investigations.

When making decisions, individuals often seek advice from their family, friends, and social network connections. In this way, individ-uals’ opinions are susceptible to influence from their connections’ viewpoints. For example, in elections, individuals may initially support one party, while social influence may sway their choice to another. A recent study by Stewart et al. introduced a metric, influence assortment, to quantify the phenomenon of information gerrymandering that one party can influence more voters from other parties by strategically distributing their members among the social networks. While this metric correlates strongly with voting outcomes, the finding is only suitable for two-party elections. In this paper, we define the influence assortment that incorporates the level of similarity (homophily) among neighbours in the social network and extend it to multi-party elections. We examine its ability to predict voting outcomes when all parties initially have equal votes and average degrees. Through simulations using a stochastic model of voting behaviour, we demonstrate that the correlation between the influence gap and vote difference is a strong predictor in both small and large scale-free networks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

Emergence of composite many-body exciton states in WS2 and MoSe2 monolayers

When doped with a high density of mobile charge carriers, monolayer transition-metal dichalcogenide (TMD) semiconductors can host new types of composite many-particle exciton states that do not exist in conventional semiconductors. Such multiparticle bound states arise when a photoexcited electron-hole pair couples not to just a single Fermi sea that is quantum-mechanically distinguishable (as in the case of conventional charged excitons or trions), but rather couples simultaneously to multiple Fermi seas, each having distinct spin and valley quantum numbers. Composite six-particle “hexciton” states were recently identified in electron-doped WSe2 monolayers, but under suitable conditions they should also form in all other members of the monolayer TMD family. Here we present spectroscopic evidence demonstrating the emergence of many-body hexcitons in charge-tunable WS2 monolayers (at the A-exciton) and MoSe2 monolayers (at the B-exciton). The roles of distinguishability and carrier screening on the stability of hexcitons are discussed.

Fog computing is a way to run a computer that sends data from IoT devices to a group of nodes that get it in real time. These nodes do real-time processing of the data that they get, with the least amount of response time. The nodes send summaries of their analysis to the server regularly. A server-based application then looks at the data that has been sent from the different nodes and tries to come up with actionable information. Fog architecture needs more than just computer power. It needs to be able to communicate quickly between IoT devices and servers. In this paper, a secure Message Queuing Telemetry Transport Protocol (MQTT) broker in fog computing is described as an entity that acts as an intermediate to facilitate communication between MQTT clients, to receive messages that have been published by clients, to filter the messages based on topic, and to disseminate them to subscribers. The MQTT protocol publish/subscribe data transmission is encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS) in the proposed method. This has the additional advantages of maintaining network performance, improving channel utilization, lowering the number of loose packets in comparison with the case study that was carried out without TLS, and increasing network latency. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2023.

Aiming to develop antifogging materials with enhanced antifogging properties and scratch resistance, polysilsesquioxane films containing quaternary ammonium groups were prepared via a sol-gel reaction and quaternization. Owing to their high water uptake, scratch hardness, and transparency, the prepared quaternary ammonium-functionalized polysilsesquioxane films are promising for application in antifogging coatings. © 2025 RSC.
