Fractal autoencoder with redundancy regularization for unsupervised feature selection

Feature selection is a crucial step in data preprocessing because feature selection reduces the dimensionality of data by eliminating irrelevant and redundant features. Since manual labeling is expensive, unsupervised feature selection has received increasing attention in recent years. However, existing unsupervised feature selection methods tend to prioritize selecting highly correlated features over exploring feature diversity. Thus, a regularized fractal autoencoder(RFAE) method is proposed to select informative features in an unsupervised way. Specifically, the fractal autoencoder network extends autoencoders to construct a correspondence neural network and a selection neural network. The correspondence neural network exploits interfeature correlations and the selection neural network selects the informative features. A redundancy regularization strategy consists of a redundancy elimination regularization term based on the dependency between features and a sparse regularization term based on the group lasso. The redundancy regularization strategy eliminates feature subset redundancy and enhances network generalization ability. Extensive experimental results on six publicly available datasets show that the proposed RFAE outperforms the compared methods regarding clustering accuracy and classification accuracy. Moreover, the proposed RFAE achieves acceptable computation efficiency.

This paper contributes a sophisticated statistical method for the assessment of performance in routing protocols salient Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET)routing protocols:Destination Sequenced Distance Vector(DSDV),Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector(AODV),Dynamic Source Routing(DSR),and Zone Routing Protocol(ZRP).In this paper,the evaluation will be carried out using complete sets of statistical tests such as Kruskal-Wallis,Mann-Whitney,and *** articulates a systematic evaluation of how the performance of the previous protocols varies with the number of nodes and the mobility *** study is premised upon the Quality of Service(QoS)metrics of throughput,packet delivery ratio,and end-to-end delay to gain an adequate understanding of the operational efficiency of each protocol under different network *** findings explained significant differences in the performance of different routing protocols;as a result,decisions for the selection and optimization of routing protocols can be taken effectively according to different network *** paper is a step forward in the general understanding of the routing dynamics of MANETs and contributes significantly to the strategic deployment of robust and efficient network infrastructures.

Synchronized optimization of chilled water temperature in compression refrigeration system based on PII-AWOA

The widespread adoption of air conditioning systems has heightened concerns over energy consumption. Despite extensive research on optimizing compression refrigeration systems, achieving global optimization remains challenging. This paper addresses this issue by proposing a novel optimization strategy for vapor compression refrigeration systems. Central to this strategy is the optimization of chilled water temperature, a critical factor influencing overall system efficiency. This variable is synchronized with evaporating pressure (Pe) and condensing pressure (Pc) to achieve simultaneous optimal settings. Simulation results underscore the efficacy of this approach in significantly reducing energy consumption during steady-state operation. Moreover, an Adaptive Whale Optimization Algorithm based on Population information Interactions (PII-AWOA) is developed to enhance optimization performance. Firstly, a population information utilization strategy is designed to improve the selection of optimal individuals in the original algorithm. In addition, adaptive measures are introduced to equalize the exploration and exploitation capabilities of the algorithm. Finally, individual neighborhoods are divided within the population, enabling ordinary individuals to utilize the information of others in their neighborhood, thereby realizing inter-individual information interaction. Experimental results indicate that the PII-AWOA algorithm demonstrates superior precision in convergence on multiple test functions and effectively mitigates the risk of local minima. Comparative analyses with the ZOA algorithm highlight the superior convergence speed and enhanced energy-saving capabilities of the proposed PII-AWOA algorithm. © 2025 International Society of Automation

P3DC:Reducing DRAM Cache Hit Latency by Hybrid Mappings

Die-stacked dynamic random access memory(DRAM)caches are increasingly advocated to bridge the performance gap between the on-chip cache and the main *** fully realize their potential,it is essential to improve DRAM cache hit rate and lower its cache hit *** order to take advantage of the high hit-rate of set-association and the low hit latency of direct-mapping at the same time,we propose a partial direct-mapped die-stacked DRAM cache called *** design is motivated by a key observation,i.e.,applying a unified mapping policy to different types of blocks cannot achieve a high cache hit rate and low hit latency *** address this problem,P3DC classifies data blocks into leading blocks and following blocks,and places them at static positions and dynamic positions,respectively,in a unified set-associative *** also propose a replacement policy to balance the miss penalty and the temporal locality of different *** addition,P3DC provides a policy to mitigate cache thrashing due to block type *** results demonstrate that P3DC can reduce the cache hit latency by 20.5%while achieving a similar cache hit rate compared with typical set-associative caches.P3DC improves the instructions per cycle(IPC)by up to 66%(12%on average)compared with the state-of-the-art direct-mapped cache—BEAR,and by up to 19%(6%on average)compared with the tag-data decoupled set-associative cache—DEC-A8.

Infrared image super-resolution reconstruction based on residual fast fourier transform

Infrared images have been widely used in military, civilian, and industrial fields. Due to the inherent limitations of sensors, infrared images usually have some disadvantages such as low resolution and blurred texture details. How to improve the resolution of infrared images without changing hardware devices has become a current research hotspot. Aiming at the problem that the existing infrared image super-resolution reconstruction methods do not utilize the image details sufficiently, this paper proposes an infrared image super-resolution reconstruction algorithm based on residual fast fourier transform(ISRRFT). The image features are extracted in both spatial domain and frequency domain, so as to fully extract the high-frequency and low-frequency information components of infrared images and improve the quality of reconstructed infrared images In addition, the learnable fast fourier transform loss function has been introduced, which is used in conjunction with the L1 loss function to calculate the loss from both the spatial and frequency domains, thus better optimizing the model parameters. The test results on three test sets, SR1280, IRData and Infrared20, show that the proposed algorithm has an optimal performance in terms of both objective and subjective evaluation metrics compared to current representative algorithms. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

The majority of educational institutions still track student attendance using the old-fashioned method (paper-based). Paper-based attendance registers have a variety of problems, including the inability to evaluate the data because it is not uploaded to a centralized system. The embedded cameras on campus will take a picture of it. The faces of all the students are in the database. Students’ photos for future usage. Face recognition was used to capture the student's image. Either students are arriving, or everyone is seated in the space. The student's presence is recognized right away. The final step in the recognition process is to compare the detected face photos to the database of student images. if the image and database are identical. The pupil is noted as being present.
