Druggable proteins are defined as proteins that can interact with drugs to modulate certain biological activity. The identification of druggable proteins holds significant clinical importance, directly impacting the development of targeted therapies for diseases like cancer and metabolic disorders. Identifying druggable proteins involves various methods, including computational prediction models, mass spectrometry (MS), and biochemical assays, but achieving high accuracy remains a challenge. This study proposes DrugEL, an ensemble learning model that uses Bayesian inference to integrate predictions from multiple algorithms: Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), LightGBM (LGBM), and Decision Tree (DT) with seven feature extraction methods (LSA, AAC, PAAC, GAAC, NMBroto, AAIndex, and KNN). The results show that DrugEL outperforms existing models in terms of accuracy (0.9758), MCC (0.9515), AUC (0.9758), sensitivity (0.9742) and specificity (0.9774), particularly excelling with the LSA method. © 2024 IEEE.

Recent research in quantum computing has gained significant momentum, promising transformative advances across various fields, including artificial intelligence (AI). This paper focuses on quantum reinforcement learning (QRL), which utilizes quantum neural network (QNN) to address the inherent chal-lenges in conventional reinforcement learning (RL) frameworks. For a comprehensive examination of QRL, in this paper, the structure of QNN is explored in-depth, including the functional roles of key quantum circuit gates such as the unitary, rotation, controlled-X, and Hadamard gates. This paper also discusses the primary components of QNN, namely state encoding, parameterized quantum circuits (PQC), and measurement processes. Furthermore, the application of IBM qiskit for the visualization of quantum states and circuits is highlighted, providing practical insights into the deployment of quantum principles in RL. Consequently, this paper encapsulates the potential of QRL to revolutionize AI, positioning it as a pivotal area of future research and development in quantum computing. © 2024 IEEE.

Logs are important in modern software development with runtime information. Log parsing is the first step in many log-based analyses, that involve extracting structured information from unstructured log data. Traditional log parsers face challenges in accurately parsing logs due to the diversity of log formats, which directly impacts the performance of downstream log-analysis tasks. In this paper, we explore the potential of using Large Language Models (LLMs) for log parsing and propose LLMParser, an LLM-based log parser based on generative LLMs and few-shot tuning. We leverage four LLMs, Flan-T5-small, Flan-T5-base, LLaMA-7B, and ChatGLM-6B in LLMParsers. Our evaluation of 16 open-source systems shows that LLMParser achieves statistically significantly higher parsing accuracy than state-of-the-art parsers (a 96% average parsing accuracy). We further conduct a comprehensive empirical analysis on the effect of training size, model size, and pre-training LLM on log parsing accuracy. We find that smaller LLMs may be more effective than more complex LLMs;for instance where Flan-T5-base achieves comparable results as LLaMA-7B with a shorter inference time. We also find that using LLMs pre-trained using logs from other systems does not always improve parsing accuracy. While using pre-trained Flan-T5-base shows an improvement in accuracy, pre-trained LLaMA results in a decrease (decrease by almost 55% in group accuracy). In short, our study provides empirical evidence for using LLMs for log parsing and highlights the limitations and future research direction of LLM-based log parsers. © 2024 ACM.

A general framework of unsupervised learning for combinatorial optimization (CO) is to train a neural network whose output gives a problem solution by directly optimizing the CO objective. Albeit with some advantages over traditional solvers, current frameworks optimize an averaged performance over the distribution of historical problem instances, which misaligns with the actual goal of CO that looks for a good solution to every future encountered instance. With this observation, we propose a new objective of unsupervised learning for CO where the goal of learning is to search for good initialization for future problem instances rather than give direct solutions. We propose a meta-learning-based training pipeline for this new objective. Our method achieves good performance. We observe that even the initial solution given by our model before fine-tuning can significantly outperform the baselines under various evaluation settings including evaluation across multiple datasets, and the case with big shifts in the problem scale. The reason we conjecture is that meta-learning-based training lets the model be loosely tied to each local optimum for a training instance while being more adaptive to the changes of optimization landscapes across instances. © 2023 11th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2023. This article presents an approach for model extraction, formal specification, verification, and repair of the scheduler of Contiki, which is an event-driven lightweight operating system for the Internet of Things (IoT). We first derive a state machine-based abstraction of the scheduler's modes of operation along with the control flow abstractions of the scheduler's most important functions. We then use a set of transformation rules to formally specify the scheduler and all its internal functions in Promela. Additional contributions with respect to the conference version of this article include (1) modeling nested function calls in the Promela model of the scheduler using a novel technique amenable to model checking in SPIN;(2) modeling protothreads in Promela;(3) specifying and formally verifying 12 critical requirements of the scheduler;(4) detecting new design flaws in Contiki's scheduler for the first time (to the best of our knowledge);(5) repairing the model and the source code of Contiki's scheduler towards fixing the flaws detected through verification, as well as regression verification of the entire model of the scheduler;and (6) experimentally analyzing the time and space costs of verification before and after repair. The proposed formal model of Contiki's scheduler along with novel modeling techniques enhance our knowledge regarding the most critical components of Contiki and provide reusable methods for formal specification and verification of other event-driven operating systems used in Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs) and the IoT. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). A brain tumor is a mass or growth of abnormal cells in the *** children and adults,brain tumor is considered one of the leading causes of *** are several types of brain tumors,including benign(non-cancerous)and malignant(cancerous)*** brain tumors as early as possible is essential,as this can improve the chances of successful treatment and *** this problem,we bring forth a hybrid intelligent deep learning technique that uses several pre-trained models(Resnet50,Vgg16,Vgg19,U-Net)and their integration for computer-aided detection and localization systems in brain *** pre-trained and integrated deep learning models have been used on the publicly available dataset from The Cancer Genome *** dataset consists of 120 *** pre-trained models have been used to classify tumor or no tumor images,while integrated models are applied to segment the tumor region *** have evaluated their performance in terms of loss,accuracy,intersection over union,Jaccard distance,dice coefficient,and dice coefficient *** pre-trained models,the U-Net model achieves higher performance than other models by obtaining 95%*** contrast,U-Net with ResNet-50 out-performs all other models from integrated pre-trained models and correctly classified and segmented the tumor region.

Algorithm and VLSI Architecture of a Near-Optimum Symbol Detector for QSM MIMO Systems

Driven by the rapidly growing demand for high quality of service (QoS) in wireless communications, quadrature spatial modulation (QSM) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technologies have received intensive research attention. In this paper, a multiplier-free and divider-free detection algorithm and a corresponding hardware architecture are presented. The proposed algorithm has four steps: 1) applying COordinate Rotation DIgital computer (CORDIC)-based Givens rotations to QR decompose the fading channel matrices, 2) mapping the transmitted M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) symbols to the binary phase shift keying (BPSK)-modulated bits, 3) symbol slicing to estimate the transmitted symbols for all transmit antenna combinations (TACs), and 4) measuring the likelihood distances and finding the final solution. Based on hardware considerations for high-speed processing, no multipliers or dividers are used in the four corresponding hardware modules. Finally, computer simulations and hardware implementation are conducted for a configuration with four transmit antennas, two active transmit antennas, and four receive antennas. According to the simulation results, the proposed algorithm performs almost as well as the optimal method but has a lower computational complexity. Furthermore, according to the hardware implementation results, the proposed architecture needs 547k gates (kGEs), has a preprocessing latency of 64 clock cycles, provides a throughput rate of 1 Gbps and has a hardware efficiency of 1.83 (Mbps/kGEs) when operating at a frequency of 500 MHz. The above results also show that even for fast fading channels, the proposed detector is still a promising candidate for providing a high throughput rate and an acceptable bit error rate (BER). © 2013 IEEE.

Intravenous (IV) therapy is a critical component of modern healthcare, yet traditional IV systems are prone to human errors, manual adjustments, and limited monitoring capabilities, which can jeopardize patient safety and hinder healthcare efficiency. This paper presents the development of the Smartdrip IV Infusion System, a sophisticated and automated solution that integrates advanced sensors, control algorithms, and intuitive user interfaces to address these limitations. The Smartdrip system minimizes human intervention, provides real-time monitoring, and automates fluid administration with enhanced precision and safety features. The system demonstrates high reliability through simulation and prototype testing in detecting anomalies, issuing alerts, and ensuring accurate infusion rates, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare provider workload. The results validate the Smartdrip system as a transformative approach to optimizing IV therapy in diverse clinical settings. © 2024 IEEE.
