We propose a new cache coherency scheme named HCCS(hybrid cache coherency scheme) to facilitate ubiquitous data access of mobile clients. To cope with the limitations of ubiquitous computing environments, it integrates the cache invalidation scheme using broadcast channel into the publish/subscribe-based data synchronization scheme using two-way communication channel. We present novel algorithms and system architecture for the HCCS. By integrating two schemes, the HCCS provides substantial benefits: allows updates on the mobile client which are restricted in the cache invalidation scheme using broadcast channel and disconnected operations, improves the scalability. The HCCS scheme also gives proper support to the short disconnection of mobile clients, dynamically adapts to changes of disconnection period of the mobile clients.

The main purpose of this exploratory study was to examine the relationship between certain learning organization characteristics and change adaptation, innovation, and bottom-line organizational performance. The following learning organization characteristics were found to be the strongest predictors of rapid change adaptation, quick product or service introduction, and bottom-line organizational performance: open communications and information sharing;risk taking and new idea promotion;and information, facts, time, and resource availability to perform one's job in a professional manner.

As the pandemic Covid-19 erupted worldwide in 2020, the entire world rapidly adopted online education as a means of sustaining the education system in universities and schools. However, the majority of students were unfamiliar with these methods, as they were accustomed to traditional classrooms. Some students may prefer online education over traditional education, but online education stress remains a persistent issue. This study investigated the stress encountered by students during online learning sessions. 220 university students participated in this quantitative correlational study. On the basis of 11 items developed and tested using Confirmatory Factor Analysis, a questionnaire consisting of three constructs of online learning stress, financial capacity, and positive perception of online learning was developed and administered. The data were subsequently evaluated using the Structural Model in order to comprehend the relationships between the variables. The model was discovered to have a high level of fitness and validity. Positive perceptions of online learning were discovered to predict student stress negatively. The financial capacity of students to purchase the necessary devices for online learning sessions had no effect on their stress levels. However, financial capacity is the antecedent of how positively students viewed online learning for themselves. This suggests that for online education to be successful, it is crucial to consider the students' perceptions by evaluating their access to all the devices and technologies associated with online learning. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to the widespread nature of sun-related health risks, sophisticated UV monitoring systems are urgently needed. This research study introduces a cloud-based UV monitoring system with the intent of remotely tracking and analyzing UV exposure in real time. The system incorporates a network of UV sensors deployed in various locations, continuously collecting UV radiation data. These sensors are linked to a cloud system, which allows for easy sharing and processing of collected data. As a result, we're working to perfect a cutting-edge device that can monitor vitamin D absorption, measure cumulative UV exposure, and warn of impending danger. Extensive studies have demonstrated the benefits of UV exposure for both general health and protection against the newly discovered coronavirus. However, finding a happy medium is important because too much sun exposure can cause cancer, lupus flares, and cataracts. The proposed model gives users the ability to set their own daily UV exposure limits, taking into account clinically validated thresholds for various skin tones. The developed sensor module is able to measure the UV index with high precision even in bright sunlight because it closely mimics the skin erythema spectrum. © 2023 IEEE.

More intense fire weather due to climate change is implicated as a key driver of recent extreme wildfire events. As fuel stock, the role of vegetation and its phenology changes in wildfire dynamics, however is not fully appreciated. Using long-term satellite-based burned areas and photosynthesis observations, we reveal that an earlier peak photosynthesis timing(PPT) potentially acts to escalate subsequent wildfires, with an increase in the global average burned fraction of 0.021%(～2.20 Mha) for every additional day of PPT advancement. Satellite observations and Earth System modeling consistently show that this fire escalation is likely due to intensified drought conditions and increased fuel availability associated with the climate feedback arising from earlier PPT. Current fire-enabled dynamic global vegetation models can reproduce the observed negative correlation between PPT and burned area but underestimate the strength of the relationship notably. Given the continued PPT advancement owing to climate change, the bioclimatic effects of vegetation phenology change suggest a potentially pervasive upward pressure on future wildfires.

Due to recent development in different sectors such as industrialization, transportation, and the global economy, air pollution is one of the major issues in the twenty-first century. In this work, we aimed to predict ambient PM2.5 concentration using the prophet forecasting model (PFM) in Anhui Province, China. The data were collected from 68 air quality monitoring stations to forecast both short-term and long-term PM2.5 concentrations. The determination coefficient (R2), root mean squared error (RMSE), and mean absolute error (MAE) were used to determine the accuracy of the model. According to the obtained results, the predicted R, RMSE, and MAE values by PFM for PM2.5 were 0.63, 15.52 μg/m3, and 10.62 μg/m3, respectively. The results indicate that the actual and predicted values were significantly fitted and PFM accurately predict PM2.5 concentration. These findings are supportive and helpful for local bodies and policymakers to deal and mitigate air pollution problems in the future. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The era of the 21st century is the emerging knowledge-based economy, with the rapid growth and popularity of information technology and the Internet, the use of digital tools to enhance the learning outcomes had been more common. Therefore, learners in the digital learning status also were lack of interaction and discussion among others, including teachers and other learning participants. According to this condition, flipped teaching was raised to enhance learning outside the classroom. This study aims to understand the application of the conventional flipped teaching to supplement classroom teaching, the understanding of their implementation procedures, key factors and the effectiveness of learning and teaching strategies to develop a flipped teaching model. Literatures were explored to analyze the status regarding flipped learning. Invited teachers who implemented flipped teaching had participated in-depth interviews for teaching practice. Then, questionnaires were conducted to investigate the students' abilities learned after the teaching material flipped. The data of interviews and questionnaires were analyzed and discussed. The further conclusions and recommendations were made to be the reference of future research and practitioners.

Recently, most businesses have introduced a system for improving their responsibility to the customers in terms of job improvement. For example, small-quantity batch production increases cost but improve efficiency of management. Companies have been introduced the balanced scorecard to evaluate their management as part of improvement, while they suffer from many trials and errors. Many businesses still have difficulty in introducing balance scorecard concept in their process, but we suggest a method to successfully introduce the balance scorecard. This study aims to suggest a new performance measurement model reflecting relative importance of the key performance indicators for each factor. Our model is applied to several companies in real-world to validate the new model. Also, our study proposes a methodology for an adequate performance measurement using multiple attribute decision making.

Changes in inland lakes on the Tibetan Plateau over the past 40 years

Inland lakes and alpine glaciers are important water resources on the Tibetan Plateau. Understanding their variation is crucial for accurate evaluation and prediction of changes in water supply and for retrieval and analysis of climatic information. Data from previous research on 35 alpine lakes on the Tibetan Plateau were used to investigate changes in lake water level and area. In terms of temporal changes, the area of the 35 alpine lakes could be divided into five groups: rising, falling-rising, rising-falling, fluctuating, and falling. In terms of spatial changes, the area of alpine lakes in the Himalayan Mountains, the Karakoram Mountains, and the Qaidam Basin tended to decrease; the area of lakes in the Naqu region and the Kunlun Mountains increased; and the area of lakes in the Hoh Xil region and Qilian Mountains fluctuated. Changes in lake water level and area were correlated with regional changes in climate. Reasons for changes in these lakes on the Tibetan Plateau were analyzed, including precipitation and evaporation from meteorological data, glacier meltwater from the Chinese glacier inventories. Several key problems, e.g. challenges of monitoring water balance, limitations to glacial area detection, uncertainties in detecting lake water-level variations and variable region boundaries of lake change types on the Tibetan Plateau were discussed. This research has most indicative significance to regional climate change.

Research Motivation and Objective Article 158 of the Constitution and the J.Y. Interpretation No. 450 (1998) of the University Act interpreted various freedom of teaching and university self-government principles. The Constitution and University Act allow universities to independently decide whether to offer physical education (PE) courses. PE courses must be offered in accordance with relevant laws. A decline in birth rates, university enrollment, university autonomy, and zero-credit courses have led to a reduction in compulsory PE courses. Martins et al. (2020) investigated PE in 54 countries and found that older students are less likely to engage in regular physical activity than younger students, highlighting the importance of maintaining exercise through the implementation of school-based PE courses. The present study examined the current situation and trends in the numbers of PE teachers in colleges in Taiwan following the introduction of Article No. 450. Additionally, laws, regulations, and systems were analyzed and relevant data was compiled to gain insights into trends in college-based PE courses. Literature Review The United States was the first country to include PE courses as a graduation requirement in higher education. In 1861, Amherst College began to require students to take PE courses during each year of enrollment, and several universities began to offer PE courses (Cardinal et al., 2012). By the late 1920s and early 1930s, approximately 97% of colleges and universities had PE as a requirement for graduation, and by the 1960s, 84% to 87% of schools included PE as a required course (Lumpkin & Jenkins, 1993). However, over the past three decades, in U.S. higher education, the percentage of schools that require completion of PE as a graduation requirement has declined (Hensley, 2000), and the percentage was as low as 39.55% in 2010 (Cardinal et al., 2012).
