The Synchrophasor Technology is more precise than traditional measuring systems, and it must be installed in the power system to ensure wide-area monitoring. The disadvantages of a phasor measurement system include the high cost of the equipment and installation. PMUs are primarily utilized in power systems due to their high reporting rate, synchronized measurement, and capacity to observe adjacent buses. With optimal placement, PMUs allow for the acquisition of enough information to make the power system observable with a minimum total cost. The optimization problem that tries to determine the optimal placement of PMUs can be solved using both deterministic and metaheuristic algorithms. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. A Study on the Critical Transmission Operating Constraint Forecasting(COCF) of Transmission systems with High Renewable Resources Penetrations

Wind power generation, as a pivotal resource of renewable energy, is emerging as a leading force in carbon neutral, with its share in the global energy mix experiencing rapid growth. However, the inherent volatility of wind power output poses challenges, leading to potential transmission operating constraint resulting from sudden output fluctuations. This paper presents a methodology for critical transmission operation constraints forecasting (COCF) on a monthly and hourly basis, simulating scenarios involving large-scale wind power generation integrated into the power system. The proposed approach was validated through its application to the Jeju power system, where transmission thermal limits on critical lines were forecasted using actual power load and wind power capacity factor database. The insights gained from this methodology offer valuable perspectives for assessing power grid reliability concerning wind power integration and establishing response systems to uphold overall system stability. As humanity ventures further into space exploration, securing sustainable resources becomes paramount. The success of space farming depends not only on the ability to cultivate crops but also on the effective management of environmental conditions. Introducing Vyoma-ADS: an innovative system that integrates IoT technology with an adaptive Anomaly Detection System, specifically designed for space agriculture. Our study underscores the crucial role of environmental monitoring within space shuttles, where even minor fluctuations can have a significant impact on plant growth and productivity. To tackle these challenges, we designed a compact IoT-enabled system to monitor the moisture content in the soil, the temperature and humidity of the surrounding environment, and the ppm value of unwanted gases in the atmosphere. Through rigorous testing and analysis, we established optimal thresholds conducive to plant growth in the unique conditions of space. Recognizing the inherent variability and occasional anomalies in environmental data, we investigated three distinct machine learning models for anomaly detection: Isolation Forest, One-Class Support Vector Machines (OCSVM) and Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN). Our findings reveal that DBSCAN outperforms other techniques in identifying anomalies amidst fluctuating data. Additionally, we detail our approach to data visualization using a SaaS cloud platform, which enhances the comprehensibility of the study and facilitates better decision-making processes. This paper demonstrates how the integration of IoT monitoring and advanced anomaly detection methods can significantly improve the reliability and efficiency of space agriculture. By leveraging these technologies, we aim to create a robust system capable of maintaining optimal growing conditions for plants in space. © 2024 IEEE.

The importance of steel life cycle study is presented through steel elaboration technology that allows the use of scrap metal by recycling them;the paper presents an analysis of data from industrial practice, and the potential impact caused on the environment. The purpose of the work is to identify and present the environmental impact generated by the steelmaking process in the electric arc furnace with eccentric bottom tapping (EBT). The article also presents the identification of opportunities and risks associated with three approaches for the steel development process based on scrap metal in the electric arc furnace. © 2023, Politechnica University of Bucharest. In recent years, the interest in sending exploration robots on other planets, satellites or smaller celestial bodies, has increased considerably. While the now classical configuration with six wheels remains as primary option for such missions, we investigate in the present paper a simpler exploration robot, moving on only two wheels. The advantages of higher mobility in narrow spaces and lower mass come with an inconvenience: the stability of such a robot. This study investigates the presence of pathogenic bacteria in various types of cheeses, focusing on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., and Listeria monocytogenes. Cheese samples were subjected to microbial isolation and identification techniques, revealing the prevalence of these pathogens. Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were commonly detected, while Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes were less frequently found. These findings underscore the importance of robust food safety measures in cheese production and highlight the need for continued vigilance in monitoring and controlling pathogenic bacteria to ensure consumer safety. © 2024, Politechnica University of Bucharest. Making moral judgments is an essential step toward developing ethical AI systems. Prevalent approaches are mostly implemented in a bottom-up manner, which uses a large set of annotated data to train models based on crowd-sourced opinions about morality. These approaches have been criticized for overgeneralizing the moral stances of a limited group of annotators and lacking explainability. This work proposes a flexible top-down framework to steer (Large) Language Models (LMs) to perform moral reasoning with well-established moral theories from interdisciplinary research. The theory-guided top-down framework can incorporate various moral theories. Our experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework on datasets derived from moral theories. Furthermore, we show the alignment between different moral theories and existing morality datasets. Our analysis exhibits the potential and flaws in existing resources (models and datasets) in developing explainable moral judgment-making systems. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

We clarified the role of CMR in the complex public facility development of small municipality, Yabu City, Hyogo Prefecture. In (Part 3) we analyzed citizen participation in the four stages of design and construction, focusing on the changes of the meeting systems. And we clarified that CMR can effectively support citizen participation through the variety of meeting bodies and their flexible operation of the meeting system. Therefore, we concluded that CMR's support for citizen participation which have become increasingly important in recent years in public construction projects will become a standard work for CMR in the future. © 2024 Architectural Institute of Japan. In this study, PIV and wind pressure experiments were carried out under tornado-like wind flow affected by surface roughness. The authors discussed the effects of swirl ratio and roughness density on the velocity field and the pressure deficit characteristics near the surface. It was confirmed that the velocity field structure gradually transitioned by changing swirl ratio and roughness density. Next, the pressure deficit characteristics showed that the measured pressure was the lowest when the roughness density was 0.014 at any swirl ratio. In the above discussion, the models on the radial velocity distribution and the pressure deficit distribution were proposed. © 2025 Architectural Institute of Japan. All rights reserved.
