Correlation between digital literacy and environmental literacy of 11th-grade students

The rapid development of technology, information, and communication requires students to master digital literacy. In addition, the rapid development of technology also affects environmental conditions, so it is necessary to master environmental literacy to understand and interpret environmental conditions, as well as build students’ awareness of environmental issues. This study aims to determine the correlation between digital literacy and student environmental literacy. The population in this research includes 11th-grade students of SMAN 1 Batu. The research sample amounted to 102 students, and the sampling technique used was purposive random sampling. Data were collected through digital literacy questionnaires, environmental literacy questionnaires, and environmental literacy tests. The data were tested for normality and homogeneity prerequisites and then analyzed using the Pearson Correlation statistical test. The results obtained show that the average digital literacy score of students is 105.1, including the high category, and the average student environmental literacy score is 279.7, included in the medium category. The high level of digital literacy will make students more critical in accessing technology and digital media. Digital literacy includes the process of finding, using multiple sources, evaluating, and using information to produce original products, with the maximum application of digital literacy, which is expected to support students’ environmental literacy in providing knowledge, understanding, and building an attitude of caring for the environment. The data obtained shows that there is a positive relationship between digital literacy and environmental literacy.

Histopathology is a vital diagnostic discipline in medicine, fundamental to our understanding, detection, assessment and treatment of conditions such as cancer, dementia and heart disease. Traditionally, the standard workflow in histopathology has primarily relied on the visual interpretation of tissue samples carried out by human experts under a light microscope. Since the 2000s, thanks to advances in scanning technologies such as whole-slide imaging, histopathology is undergoing a digital transformation. The rapid increase in digital data is fuelling the development and application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods. In this Review, we delve into the latest progress in AI methods for histopathology, which promise to yield accurate, scalable, useful and affordable support tools for clinical decision. We examine the challenges and opportunities in this domain, exploring historically important approaches and problems that have shaped the field, while also highlighting recent technological breakthroughs that are poised to redefine its future. Furthermore, we offer an overview of publicly available datasets that have been instrumental in propelling the development of AI methods in histopathology.

This paper presents a model predictive control (MPC) implemented to a voltage source inverter (VSI) using a direct power model (DPM) representation. The VSI is connected to the ac grid through an RL-filter. The DPM representation allows controlling instantaneous active and reactive power, regardless of the VSI without using a phase-locked loop. The MPC-DPC performance is assessed, making changes of the active and reactive power and considering unbalance voltage in the ac grid. In addition, it is also compared to a feedback linearization with an integral action (FBL) using DPC representation. The active and reactive power tracking errors and the spectrum currents are used to quantify and validate the advantages of proposed controller. Time-domain simulations have been carried out in Matlab/simulink and the MPC is computed using MOSEK solver interfaced with YALMIP toolbox in Matlab. Results show that the proposed controller presents a better performance than the FBL-DPC approach.

Progress in high-performance computing demands significant advances in memory technology. Among novel memory technologies that promise efficient device operation on a sub-ns timescale, resistance switching between charge ordered phases of 1T-TaS2 has shown to be potentially useful for development of high-speed, energy efficient non-volatile memory devices. Measurement of the electrical operation of such devices in the picosecond regime is technically challenging and hitherto still largely unexplored. Here we use an optoelectronic "laboratory-on-a-chip" experiment for measurements of ultrafast memory switching, enabling accurate measurement of electrical switching parameters with 100 fs temporal resolution. Photoexcitation and electro-optic sampling on a (Cd,Mn)Te substrate are used to generate and, subsequently, measure electrical pulse propagation, with intra-band excitation and sub-gap probing, respectively. We demonstrate high contrast non-volatile resistance switching from high to low resistance states of a 1T-TaS2 device using single sub-2ps electrical pulses. Using detailed modeling we find that the switching energy density per unit area is exceptionally small, EA = 9.4 fJ/µm2. The speed and energy efficiency of an electronic "write" process, place the 1T-TaS2 devices into a category of their own among new generation non-volatile memory devices. Enhancing the sensitivity of dopamine biosensor using PEDOT-PSS modified glassy carbon electrode

Abnormal concentrations of dopamine in extracellular fluid are associated with a variety of diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease. It, therefore, plays a critical role in the quantitative analysis of dopamine in body fluids in the control of biological drugs as well as in the clinical diagnostic field. Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)-(Poly(4-styrenesulfonate)) was successfully fabricated on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode by electrochemical method and used to determine dopamine. The oxidation peaks of dopamine had higher sensitivity at PEDOT-PSS modified electrode in phosphate buffer solution (PBS, pH 6.0). The electrocatalytic activity of the corresponding dopamine electrodes was investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and indicated that PEDOT: PSS by electropolymerization modified had a much higher electrocatalytic oxidation activity for dopamine than any other method. The results obtained have shown that PEDOT: PSS is a promising candidate for the modification of electrode material used in electrochemical sensing and other electrocatalytic applications.

Nowadays industries and organizations need to be flexible. Every modern organization has one similar goal on their agenda and this is to become "more Agile". The goals of these industries are to obtain a flexible structure in order to be able to stay relevant and competitive. Some of the technologies that make an improvement of the "agile production" possible are related with Artificial Intelligence and, in particular, Machine Learning. Beta thalassemia is a type of hemoglobinopathy with a mutation occurring in the beta-globin gene (HBB), mainly identified by a low hemoglobin level in the body. Beta thalassemia (BT) patients undergo blood transfusion regularly due to their ineffective erythropoiesis mechanism. This condition leads to iron overload that results in further complications, such as retinal abnormality. Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE), one instance of retinopathy, is known to be co-occurring in beta-thalassemia patients. This study aims to predict molecular networks from HBB to retinopathy-related genes using a bioinformatics approach. We found that PXE is related to thalassemia through hematopoietic system disease, which involves several of our target genes, namely HBB, ABCC6, and HAMP. The protein-protein interactions showed a relationship between HBB, ABCC6, and other proteins. This study may help to discover new markers for BT-retinopathy complications for precision medicine requirements.

Personnel and education data very important for organizations, including the military. All data related to military personnel will give effect positions and careers in the military field. The integration of personnel and education data can assist in processing and decision making. An analysis is needed so that the developed system can be useful for the long term. Analysis with IT balanced scorecard and COBIT® 2019, will be able to help and fill the gaps in the existing system based on the objectives of the military organization itself. It is shown that the domains BAI05 (Managed Organizational Change) and DSS02 (Managed Service Requests and Incidents) are still not being implemented well. The system developed will have the features and capabilities to support the organization in achieving its goals, including in the field of staffing and education. Besides, it provides convenience in making decisions in terms of positions related to personnel careers. © 2020 IEEE.

Dosimetric evaluation of the influence of metallic hip prostheses on radiotherapy for prostate cancer

Prostate cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer worldwide, mainly affecting individuals of advanced age. Projections indicate an increase in the number of hip arthroplasties, suggesting that numerous patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment may have hip prostheses, resulting in perturbations in dose distribution. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of hip prostheses during radiotherapy for prostate cancer. To achieve this, computational simulations were performed using the Monte Carlo N–Particle® Transport Code Version 6.3, modifying the location and composition of the prostheses, as well as the treatment plans, to obtain the conversion coefficients for equivalent dose ( CC[H T ] ). In the simulations, a hip prosthesis was modeled and implemented in the male reference phantom from ICRP Publication 145. For the unilateral prosthesis, reductions in CC[H prostate ] values were observed: 2.21 % (titanium alloy), 4.52 % (CoCrMo alloy), and 4.62 % (stainless steel). For bilateral prostheses, the reductions were 3.92 % (titanium alloy), 8.65 % (CoCrMo alloy), and 8.76 % (stainless steel). When fields that did not pass through the prostheses were used, the dose to the prostate remained at 100 %, with an average increase in CC[H urinary bladder ] values of 8.38 % (unilateral prosthesis) and 11.06 % (bilateral prostheses). It was also observed that the presence of the prosthesis led to a higher electron count, which can be explained by the electron backscattering occurring in the material. The results highlighted the importance of personalized radiotherapy treatments, as different materials and the number of prostheses can impact dose distribution.
