We propose a general attack framework based on evolutionary algorithms to quickly and efficiently generate low-perturbation adversarial samples for 3D point cloud data. Specifically, we employ a random selection to increase or decrease the number of points perturbed, followed by a single-objective evolutionary algorithm to adjust the magnitude of the perturbations. Additionally, we design an extended version that introduces a multi-objective optimization algorithm to simultaneously optimize the magnitude of the perturbations and attack effectiveness. To evaluate the performance of the proposal, we compare it with other classic algorithms using the ModelNet40 dataset. Experimental results show that the attack algorithm based on evolutionary algorithms can successfully fool well-trained models with acceptable perturbations and a higher success rate. © 2024 IEEE.

The generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools based on Large Language Models (LLMs) use billions of parameters to extensively analyse large datasets and extract critical information such as context, specific details, identifying information, use this information in the training process, and generate responses for the requested queries. The extracted data also contain sensitive information, seriously threatening user privacy and reluctance to use such tools. This article proposes the conceptual model called PrivChatGPT, a privacy-preserving model for LLMs consisting of two main components, that is, preserving user privacy during the data curation/pre-processing and preserving private context and the private training process for large-scale data. To demonstrate the applicability of PrivChatGPT, it is shown how a private mechanism could be integrated into the existing model for training LLMs to protect user privacy;specifically, differential privacy and private training using Reinforcement Learning (RL) were employed. The privacy level probabilities are associated with the document contents, including the private contextual information, and with metadata, which is used to evaluate the disclosure probability loss for an individual's private information. The privacy loss is measured and the measure of uncertainty or randomness is evaluated using entropy once differential privacy is applied. It recursively evaluates the level of privacy guarantees and the uncertainty of public databases and resources during each update when new information is added for training purposes. To critically evaluate the use of differential privacy for private LLMs, other mechanisms were hypothetically compared such as Blockchain, private information retrieval, randomisation, obfuscation, anonymisation, and the use of Tor for various performance measures such as the model performance and accuracy, computational complexity, privacy vs. utility, training latency, vulnerability to attacks, and

In this study, aluminum-doped zinc oxide(AZO) thin films were deposited onto a low-temperature polyethylene terephthalate(PET) substrate using DC magnetron sputtering. Deposition parameters included power range of 100-300 W, a working pressure of 15 mTorr, and a substrate temperature of 50 ℃. Post-deposition, flash lamp annealing(FLA) was employed as a rapid thermal processing method with a pulse duration of 1.7 ms and energy density of 7 J·cm-2, aimed at enhancing the film's quality while preserving the temperature-sensitive PET substrate. FLA offers advantages over conventional annealing,including shorter processing times and improved material properties. The structural, optical, and electrical characteristics of the AZO films were assessed using X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, and Hall effect measurements. The results demonstrated that properties of AZO films varied with deposition and annealing conditions. Films deposited at 200 W and subjected to FLA exhibited superior crystallinity, with average visible light transmittance exceeding 80% and resistivity as low as 0.38 Ω·cm representing 95%improvement in transmittance. Electrical analysis revealed that carrier concentration, mobility, and resistivity were influenced by both sputtering and annealing parameters. These findings underscore the effectiveness of FLA in optimizing AZO thin film properties, highlighting potential in optoelectronics applications.

Effect of Surface Dent Formed by Peening on Fatigue Limit of Induction Hardened Steel with Different Hardness

In this study, SCM440 steel specimens with different surface morphology and hardness were prepared by shot peening and fine particle peening, followed by induction hardening and tempering at different temperatures. Rotating bending fatigue tests were performed for these specimens, and the combined effects of the surface dent formed by peening and residual stress on the fatigue limit of the induction hardened steels were quantitatively investigated. It was found that the fatigue limit of the induction hardened steel tended to decrease with an increase in the size of the particles used in the peening. The parameter of surface morphology that showed a good correlation with the fatigue limit of the induction hardened steel was the waviness parameter, but not the roughness parameter. Furthermore, a fatigue limit estimation for induction hardened steels with different surface morphology was described. The improvement in the fatigue limit of steels with surface dents due to compressive residual stress was more significant as the hardness decreased, and the maximum fatigue limit improved by compressive residual stresses increased as the size of surface dents decreased. ©2023 The Society of Materials science, Japan.

Standard hemodialysis (HD) units are employed for dialyzing uremic patients and utilize roller pumps to generate blood and dialysate flow. The Wearable Artificial Kidneys (WAK) are designed for continuous renal replacement therapy 24/7, requiring prolonged or continuous operation. Consequently, the fouling of the dialysis filter is a significant consideration for the WAK due to its restricted flow speed. The ultimate objective of this study is to develop a novel roller pump with the capability to prevent filter fouling in the dialyzer. In order to elucidate the optimal pump geometry conditions, we constructed a prototype roller pump and conducted experimental investigations on the variation coefficient of the outer pressure of the pump. The experimental results revealed that when using shells without bosses, pressure fluctuations remained minimal at practical flow velocities, making it challenging to achieve a pulsating function. Conversely, the addition of bosses to the surface demonstrated the potential to increase pressure fluctuation even under identical motor operating conditions. © 2024 IEEE.

Air pollution is currently a critical issue for both public health and the environment. It is vital to provide advance notice of pollution levels, and air quality forecasts can play a crucial role in achieving this goal. To measure pollution levels, experts rely on the air quality index (AQI). For this research, gathered data on air pollution, specifically focusing on Fine particles (PM2.5), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), and Carbon monoxide (CO), which were used as the primary dataset. Different machine learning models, including linear regression, lasso regression, random forest regression, and K-nearest neighbor regression, were then employed to analyze the collected data. The mean absolute error(MAE), mean-squared error (MSE), root-mean squared error(RMSE) and accuracy are used to evaluate the performance of the ML model. The comparison between these models is also discussed in this paper. Random forest regression is giving the high accuracy and low RMSE among other models. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a measurement technique for an integrated complex filter. The proposed method is based on two measurement methods with integrated circuitry for calibration. It is accomplished by applying square waves to an FUT (Filter Under Test) instead of sinusoidal waves or by superposing transfer characteristics obtained by applying a single sinusoidal wave to an FUT. In both of the above methods, the output signal connected to the external measurement equipment via a 50 Ω coaxial cable and so on. In this case, the output signal of the FUT should be amplified by internal or external amplifiers, which degrades the response. However, it is cancelled out by the proposed calibration circuitry with some analog switches. In addition to the above, for the RC polyphase filter, the source resistance and the load capacitance degrade the measurement results and their effect is discussed. The validity of the proposal is confirmed through computer simulation for a third-order RCPF whose passband is 8–40 MHz fabricated by Phenitec 0.6 µm CMOS process. It is shown that the measurement error is −1.10 dB for the square-wave method and −1.00 dB and −0.43 degrees for the superposition method at 40 MHz. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Probabilistic Error Cancellation (PEC) aims to improve the accuracy of expectation values for observables. This is accomplished using the probabilistic insertion of recovery gates, which correspond to the inverse of errors. However, the inserted recovery gates also induce errors. Thus, it is difficult to obtain accurate expectation values with PEC since the estimator of PEC has a bias due to noise induced by recovery gates. To address this challenge, we propose an improved version of PEC that considers the noise resulting from gate insertion, called Feed-Forward PEC (FFPEC). FFPEC provides an unbiased estimator of expectation values by cancelling out the noise induced by recovery gates. We demonstrate that FFPEC yields more accurate expectation values compared to the conventional PEC method through analytical evaluations. Numerical experiments are used to evaluate analytical results. © 2024 IEEE.
