The aims of this paper are to model and simulate the dynamics of significant wave height for both long term (decadal) and northeast monsoon using a discrete-time stochastic process. We take the data from European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) database at particular point of offshore Terengganu, Malaysia at the south-western of the South China Sea as our empirical case. The data are decomposed into non-stationary and stationary component. We model the non-stationary component for both long term and northeast monsoon data using Fourier series, while the stationary component is modelled using an autoregressive process of order 2 with stationary white noise residuals are fitted to the t location-scale distribution. Finally, the model is used to simulate the significant wave height dynamics which well-represents the behaviour of the time series. The simulated time series can act as one of the inputs to the coastal response study, including both long term prediction of coastal response, investigation of coastal response during Northeast monsoon season and further development of other seasonal component model for South China Sea. © 2022, The Authors. Application of stability index in characterizing the basin of attraction in ecological modelling

An approach called the “stability index” was proposed by Podvigina and Ashwin in the year 2011 is very useful to characterize the local geometry of riddled basins of attraction for dynamical systems. With the stability index, one can study the behaviour of a dynamical system. It would be interesting to understand how the stability index behaves on the basin boundary between multiple basins of attraction. In this paper, the stability index is applied in the case of the ecological model. A two-species of competition system is considered, in which this system contains two attractors. To characterize the geometry of the basin of attraction, the stability index is applied. The results show that as a parameter in the system increases, the stability indices vary from infinity down to positive values to minus infinity. The changes in the indices indicate that the attractor loses its stability from being asymptotically stable to riddled basin attractor to totally unstable.

Efficiency analysis of a 150 Wp solar power system as a water pump electric power source

The 1970 – 1979 when a world energy crisis occurred and since then new and renewable energy has started to gain attention. Water and electricity are very important sources of life. Solar energy can be used to turn on a water pump through a solar power generation system as a water pump energy source. it is very important to know the level of efficiency of the PV module as a solar energy absorber that will produce current and voltage values. This solar power system will be equipped with 150 Wp PV, SCC, Battery, Inverter and also a 125 watt Pump. To determine the efficiency level of PV as a water pump power system, observations and measurements carried out for data collection for one day. The measurement shows that the highest voltage at 15:00 WIB 20.85 Voc with a temperature of 34.95°C with a current of 4.80 Isc when solar radiation is 560 W/m^2 and produces a power of 100.08 watts with an input power of 563 watts and an efficiency value of 17%. While the lowest voltage at 12:00 WIB 18.60 Voc when the temperature 41.16 °C and the current generated 6.90 Isc with solar radiation of 1013 W/m^2 and the power generated 128.34 watts with an input power of 1019 watts and the resulting efficiency 12%. Temperature is the main factor in the voltage generated, while solar radiation will affect the current output to be generated by PV. Incoming and outgoing power will determine the efficiency of the PV system as a water pump power source.

The world is in the midst of the fourth wave of the industrial revolution, which has been termed as Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). IR4.0 is characterised by smartness and networking concepts. Despite the benefits that are offered by IR4.0, several risks or challenges are related to this new emerging revolution. To understand the vision of IR4.0 there is a need to analyse it from the perspectives of collaborative networks (CNs). It is naturally multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary. CNs is made up of heterogeneous partners and consequently, several challenges are the heterogeneity of the network partners that can cause contradictory goals and contribute to the failure of establishing the CNs. To overcome issues that are related to partner selection in virtual CNs, a set of criteria for selecting partners needs to be identified. The process of selecting partners involves quantitative and qualitative criteria. However, the conventional methods which involve human judgment are usually based on uncertain criteria. It tends to create a biased decision. Partner selection based on qualitative criteria is challenging to measure due to the difficulty in assigning a numerical value to these criteria. Thus, these criteria are more freely interpreted. Therefore, the integration of ICT tools in the Decision Support System (DSS) for the CNs model, by considering the mechanism of measuring qualitative criteria. The focus of this research is to help decision-makers (DMs) in improving their decision making quality and effectiveness.

Machine learning on the post-vaccination Covid-19 prediction and on the vaccination sentiment analysis

As the SARS-COV-2 pandemic continues to hit and cause many deaths worldwide, the vaccine has been approved to reduce the adverse effects of the disease. Various vaccines such as Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, CanSino, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Sinopharm have been approved by WHO. All countries agree that the vaccination process will significantly reduce the number of Covid-19 infectious. This study discusses the impact of the vaccination over the confirmed, recovered, and deaths cases by using machine learning, particularly the Support Vector Regression (SVR). Based on the data from February 2021 to August 2021, we predict 3 cases of confirmed, recovered, and deaths in Malaysia. This study also looked at the trend of the three cases where no vaccines were introduced in Malaysia, but a restriction called the Movement Controlled Order (MCO) period was applied. Since we found some pros and cons of vaccination in Malaysia, which may affect the confirmed cases, we then use artificial neural networks (ANN) to do sentiment analysis of the social opinion regarding the vaccination in Malaysia. It involves gathering about 1000 tweets-collecting data from the tweets keyword "vaksin Malaysia". The results showed that the accuracy of Covid-19 predictions was above 90% of R2 during the vaccination process and the MCO period, and based on the results of sentiment analysis, and it was shown that about 88% of people tend to accept the vaccine positively compared to 8% who accept negatively.

Early diagnosis breast cancer by using hybrid machine learning and advanced Lanczos algorithm

Breast cancer is one of the serious health problems for women in developed and developing countries. Early diagnosis of breast cancer is necessary to treat this dangerous cancer and one of the ways is to check for abnormalities in the surface temperature of the breast. This paper uses the Partial Differential Equation (PDE) of the two-dimensional heat equation to study the thermal behavior of the human breast. In this case, we employ hybrid restarting FDM-SVR-Lanczos, which is the combination of Support Vector Regression (SVR) under Machine Learning, and the advanced Lanczos algorithm, to solve the PDE of the breast cancer problem. The Finite Difference Method (FDM) works as a numerical method to solve PDE into the algebraic System of Linear Equations (SLE), which is then continued by using an iterative solver to find the solutions. Here, we used SVR to predict a new approximate solution after we generated some iterates using the advanced Lanczos algorithm. We solved the PDE breast cancer for normal and cancerous breasts to see the difference in this thermal behavior, and we found that the presence of the cancer affects the temperature distribution over breast surface. Numerical results showed that our proposed methods resulted in a good performance with smaller residual norms on the application of breast cancer problems compared with previous study, RMEIEMLA.

B-spline curve modeling of Z-number triangular fuzzy data

Uncertainty data modeling become a major problem in visualizing and describing the properties of data. Furthermore, if the data have multiple attributes of uncertainty such as the combination between imprecision and reliability of the data. Therefore, the combination of the two issues of uncertainty data can be defined as the Z-number whereas this Z-number is a dual fuzzy number known as ordered pair. This study focuses on developing a curve model by using the Z-number data after been defined. The curve model will use the B-spline function as a tool for visualizing the data. Also, the numerical example will be given and visualized in B-spline curve form of Z-number triangular fuzzy data points (ZnTrFDPs). Therefore, this finding gives the advantage of modeling data that have multiple attributes of uncertainties.

Identification of waste for shipyard through lean manufacturing approach

Shipyard is a specialized facility equipped with various tools to support the process of building, repairing and maintaining ships. There are several types of variant ships, such as military ships, tourist boats, cargo ships and passenger ships. Apart from being a place for shipbuilding, shipyards are utilized to conduct several activities, such as ship design, equipment installation, plate installation, feasibility tests and classifications. There are many production activities and production flows that allow for potential waste problems that have an impact on labor usage, product quality, costs, and production time. The aim of this research is to identify waste in shipbuilding production lines through a lean manufacturing approach. The lean manufacturing approach is one of the ways in shipyards to observe the level of waste in the production process, so that it can reduce unnecessary activities in the production process which can increase production efficiency and effectiveness. This study approach begins with the identification of waste in the production line through mapping on each line so that activities that have no added value are identified. Based on the results of identification using the waste assessment model (WAM) method which consists of a waste relationship matrix (WRM) and a waste assessment questionnaire (WAQ), waste is obtained namely inventory (27,20%), overproduction (20.24%), defective products (20.04%), motion (12.47%), transportation (9.23%), waiting time (7.46%) and process (3.37%).

The Antarctic Ice Sheet(AIS)has been losing ice mass and contributing to global sea level rise(GSLR).Given its mass that is enough to cause~58 m of GSLR,accurate estimation of mass balance trend is critical for AIS mass loss monitoring and sea level rise ***,we present an improved approach to reconciled solutions of mass balance in AIS and its regions from multiple contributing solutions using the input-out,altimetric,and gravimetric *** comparison to previous methods,such as IMBIE 2018,this approach utilizes an adaptive data aggregation window to handle the heterogeneity of the contributing solutions,including the number of solutions,temporal distributions,uncertainties,and estimation *** improved the regression-based method by using a two-step procedure that establishes ensembled solutions within each method(input-output,altimetry,or gravimetry)and then estimates the method-independent reconciled *** the first time,16contributing solutions from 8 Chinese institutions are used to estimate the reconciled mass balance of AIS and its regions from1996 to *** results show that AIS has lost a total ice mass of~3213±253 Gt during the period,an equivalent of~8.9±0.7 mm of *** is a sustained mass loss acceleration since 2006,from 88.1±3.6 Gt yr^(-1)during 1996–2005 to 130.7±8.4 Gt yr^(-1)during 2006–2013 and further to 157.0±9.0 Gt yr^(-1)during 2014–*** mass loss signal in the West Antarctica and Antarctic Peninsula is dominant and clearly presented in the reconciled estimation and contributing solutions,regardless of estimation methods used and fluctuation of surface mass *** and challenges remain in mass balance estimation in East *** reconciled estimation approach can be extended and applied for improved mass balance estimation in the Greenland Ice Sheet and mountain glacier regions.

This study provides a brief introduction of important terminologies and methodologies in the mathematical modelling and stability analysis of the population dynamics. As an example, a mathematical model of population dynamics for thyroid disorder during pregnancy is developed and analysed. The disorders are the second most common endocrine disorders among women in childbearing age, where inadequate or excessive amount of thyroid hormones are produced due to various causes. Thyroid disorders during pregnancy and postpartum can be divided into three types: hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and postpartum thyroiditis. They may lead to numerous complications to both mothers and foetuses, such as heart failure, pre-eclampsia, miscarriage, premature birth, and perinatal mortality. The model is described using a system of first order linear ordinary differential equations. Its stability is studied using Routh-Hurwitz criteria. It is found that the model has only one non-negative equilibrium, which is locally asymptotically stable. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
