For linear optimization models that can be formulated as linear programs with the block-angular structure, i.e. independent subproblems with coupling constraints, the Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition principle provides an elegant framework of solution algorithms as well as economic interpretation. This monograph is the complete documentation of DECOMP: a robust implementation of the Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition method in FORTRAN. The code can serve as a very convenient starting point for further investigation, both computational and economic, of parallelism in large-scale systems. It can also be used as supplemental material in a second course in linear programming, computational mathematical programming, or large-scale systems.

Defense Studies Program Graduate School of Public Administration Harvard University. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1943 and his Master of Arts and Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1949 and 1954. He has taught Political Science at Princeton Vassar College and Michigan State University. He was Assistant Professor of Political Science at the latter institution when he came to Harvard in July 1955. During 1953-54 Dr. Ransom was a “Congressional Fellow” of the American Political Science Association working on Capitol Hill as a staff member for Senators and Congressmen.

Dallas Texas since 1948. She is a graduate of Hillman Hospital School of Nursing Birmingham Alabama and has a B.S. in Nursing Service Administration from the University of Texas Medical Branch Calveston Texas. From 1942 to 1946 Mrs. Wilson was Operating Room Supervisor at the 56th Evacuation Hospital serving in both Africa and Italy. Fishing boating and week-ending from a cabin on Lake Whitney in family outings are restorative factors which enable Mary Wilson to contribute generously of her time to the nursing profession. She was Program Chairman of the 11th Annual AORN Congress at Dallas Texas in March 1964 and is presently on the Editorial Committee of AORN Journal.

Should corrections for estimation errors in prior accounting periods be treated as adjustments to retained earnings, or as adjustments to current income? An auditor is exposed to criticism when a subsequent charge against income is necessary, unless his original opinion was qualified. Excessive provisions lessen the likelihood of an auditor's qualification. The resulting tendency toward overstatement in the year of the original charge with later adjustment to income represents the long run problem in accounting for estimation errors under APB Opinion 9.
