A great number of deep learning-based models have been recently proposed for automatic piano classification. In this paper, we describe our contribution to the challenge of automatic piano classification when the performer performs at the concert or stage. Among these models in deep learning, we use init-1D-WaveNet and init-2D-MLNet for comparison the accuracy in the piano beginning level of the Christmas song (Jingle bells). Our experimental results show that the assessment using the init-2D-MLNet still achieve high accuracy of 87.5%.

Fuzzy logic can be used to represent obscurity based on terms such as high, old, hot, cold, and so on. Fuzzy logic can extend the range of truth values to all real numbers in intervals between 0 and 1. Numbers in this interval represent the possibility that the statement given is "true"or "wrong". The use of fuzzy logic can be used in everyday life, such as in the fields of medicine, engineering, agriculture, transportation, environmental science and also in economic and business applications. As in this study, it was used to calculate the ideal amount of 'tips' for restaurant waiters based on the service provided by restaurant waiters. The method used in this study is to use Mamdani fuzzy logic with the process of defuzzyfication using the Centroid of area (COA). The results of this study are that it can be determined the value crisp of giving tips to restaurant waiters is 45 thousand rupiah provided that the service provided for service = 7 (Excellent) and food service = 8 (Delicious).. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Many patients with leukoaraiosis (LA) exhibit mild and difficult-to-detect symptoms in the early stages, and due to the lack of effective detection methods, the optimal timing for treatment is often missed. This not only makes later treatment more difficult but, in severe cases, can even lead to mild to severe dementia. Therefore, in addition to relying on radiologists to manually interpret magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, finding more effective detection methods has become extremely urgent. This study aimed to combine image processing and deep learning technologies to develop a model capable of accurately identifying and segmenting white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) to assist doctors in the early diagnosis of LA. We first performed efficient preprocessing on MR image slices from two different series and used the ResNet18 model to identify key slices containing WMHs, ultimately achieving precise segmentation of WMH areas with the U-Net model. This research focused on developing innovative preprocessing techniques, improving the accuracy by 12.3% with a limited dataset through preprocessing. Ultimately, the ResNet18 model achieved an F1 score of 0.829, while the U-Net model’s intersection over union (IoU) and Dice coefficient reached 0.750 and 0.857, respectively, showing the potential of this architecture. We propose improvements in the final chapter to construct a more comprehensive model. © 2024 Copyright ACM.

In recent years, many fields have expanded their research methods through the integration of artificial intelligence. In the current medical field, it is widely used in image recognition to diagnose patient symptoms, train clinical prediction models, and improve clinical workflow processes to avoid missing treatment opportunities. These methods have all achieved good results so far. Now, generative AI is also impacting the development of the medical field, not only generating prescriptions that match patient conditions but also being applied in generating medical images for data augmentation and simulating various pathological conditions, thereby aiding in training deep learning models. Stroke is a leading cause of death or disability, ranking as the second leading cause of death worldwide, next to cancer. If cancers were categorized individually, stroke would surpass all single diseases, making it a primary focus of research in brain disease treatment. There are already studies where generative AI has been used to create medical images, which are then manually evaluated by doctors to determine if they were generated by AI. In this project, we plan to generate CT images of strokes using generative AI and use a trained model (to diagnose stroke) to improve accuracy. Through this project, we hope to solve the problem of scarce stroke CT images while also providing support for training stroke-related models. © 2024 Copyright ACM.

Terahertz time-domain imaging was performed of stereotactic body radiotherapy-treated murine pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) with a high spatial resolution. To generate 2D maps of the tissue samples, the refractive index and absorption coefficient were used as imaging markers extracted with the maximum a-posteriori probability (MAP) estimation algorithm. The results were then compared with the terahertz maps of untreated murine PDAC tissue samples and demonstrated that terahertz imaging can probe physical changes with high sensitivity in the tissue post treatment. © Optica Publishing Group 2024, © 2024 The Author(s)

Real-time Vehicle Detection and Tracking on Fisheye Traffic Monitoring Video in Compressed Domain

Our goal is to develop real-time vehicle detection and tracking schemes for fisheye traffic monitoring video using the temporal information in the compressed domain without decoding the entire video. Two algorithms are proposed. The first algorithm starts with a conventional single-frame detector, but we introduce a multi-frame information fusion stage to improve the final detection and tracking accuracy, which is implemented using multi-modal bi-directional LSTM (MM bi-LSTM) network. The second algorithm first constructs multi-frame motion trail image, and then a single-image multi-head detector is designed to produce bounding boxes of an individual frame. The first scheme can be viewed as a detect-to-track design, and the second scheme is track-to-detect. We tested our proposals on the ICIP2020 VIP Cup dataset in H.265 video format. The aforementioned algorithms are applied to the motion fields and residual images in the H.265 compressed data set. It turns out that their detection and tracking performances are on par with their pixel-domain counterparts, and they can achieve the state-of-the-art accuracy of conventional video object detectors and trackers. If the decoding process for video compression is not counted, their computational complexities are much lower than the conventional pixel-domain video object detectors and trackers. © 2023 S. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) often presents only mild symptoms in its early stages, and as there is no direct diagnostic method currently available, many patients are diagnosed only after the condition has worsened. Considering that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can provide key information in the diagnosis of AD, but the condition may go undiagnosed under manual interpretation due to the subtleness of symptoms and the reliance on radiologists to interpret MRI images, this study aimed to develop an automated method for interpreting brain MR images, hoping to screen for potential AD patients. By combining image processing, the U-Net model, YOLOv8 model, various CNN model architectures, and ensemble data statistics, our method was able to identify features related to AD and predict whether a patient has the disease. Our method can process a complete set of MR images and automatically extract important slices for prediction, making it practical for medical applications. Furthermore, we tested the accuracy and reliability of the method with additional datasets. © 2024 Copyright ACM.

Learning to assemble geometric shapes into a larger target structure is a pivotal task in various practical applications. In this work, we tackle this problem by establishing local correspondences between point clouds of part shapes in both coarse- and fine-levels. To this end, we introduce Proxy Match Transform (PMT), an approximate high-order feature transform layer that enables reliable matching between mating surfaces of parts while incurring low costs in memory and computation. Building upon PMT, we introduce a new framework, dubbed Proxy Match TransformeR (PMTR), for the geometric assembly task. We evaluate the proposed PMTR on the large-scale 3D geometric shape assembly benchmark dataset of Breaking Bad and demonstrate its superior performance and efficiency compared to state-of-the-art methods. Local Periodicity-Based Beat Tracking for Expressive Classical Piano Music

To model the periodicity of beats, state-of-the-art beat tracking systems use 'post-processing trackers' (PPTs) that rely on several empirically determined global assumptions for tempo transition, which work well for music with a steady tempo. For expressive classical music, however, these assumptions can be too rigid. With two large datasets of Western classical piano music, namely the Aligned Scores and Performances (ASAP) dataset and a dataset of Chopin's Mazurkas (Maz-5), we report on experiments showing the failure of existing PPTs to cope with local tempo changes, thus calling for new methods. In this paper, we propose a new local periodicity-based PPT, called predominant local pulse-based dynamic programming (PLPDP) tracking, that allows for more flexible tempo transitions. Specifically, the new PPT incorporates a method called 'predominant local pulses' (PLP) in combination with a dynamic programming (DP) component to jointly consider the locally detected periodicity and beat activation strength at each time instant. Accordingly, PLPDP accounts for the local periodicity, rather than relying on a global tempo assumption. Compared to existing PPTs, PLPDP particularly enhances the recall values at the cost of a lower precision, resulting in an overall improvement of F1-score for beat tracking in ASAP (from 0.473 to 0.493) and Maz-5 (from 0.595 to 0.838). © 2014 IEEE.
