Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a Public Health problem worldwide. Treatment in complex and depends on patient education to achieve adequate adherence. Grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.) is a plant containing many phenolic compounds, mostly distributed in the peel, pulp, and seeds. This study evaluates the centesimal composition and bioactive compounds in Shiraz grape (Vitis vinifera) peels using spectrophotometric and UHPLC techniques and develops different formulations of compound powders from the peels and arrowroot using conventional drying technology. The results demonstrate that Shiraz grape skin contains significant amounts of insoluble fiber (15.3%), phenolics (157.09 ± 6.96-149.11 ± 9.27 mg GAE g-1), and flavonoids (0.75 ± 0.50-2.00 ± 0.50 mg QE g-1), with excellent antioxidant capacity observed in the alcoholic extracts. The phenolic content in the developed powdered compounds ranged from 128.32 to 139.70 mg GAE g-1. In general, the compounds showed good antioxidant capacity (IC50 = 0.17 to 0.19 μg mL-1). According to the chromatographic evaluation, it was possible to quantify gallic acid, catechin, and epicatechin, the latter of which was found in the largest quantities in the six formulations. The EV5 formulation was the most efficient in terms of phenolic compounds and protein amounts. Low-symmetry Penta-PdPSe with intrinsic in-plane anisotropy synthesized successfully [P. Li et al., Adv. Mater., 2102541 (2021)]. Motivated by this experimental discovery, we investigate the structural, mechanical, electronic, optical and thermoelectric properties of PdPSe monolayer via density functional theory calculations. The phonon dispersion, molecular dynamics simulation, the cohesive energy mechanical properties of the penta-PdPSe monolayer is verified to confirm its stability. The phonon spectrum represents a striking gap between the high-frequency and the low-frequency optical branches and an out-of-plane flexure mode with a quadratic dispersion in the long-wavelength limit. The Poisson’s ratio indicates that penta-PdPSe is a brittle monolayer. The pendaPdPSe monolayer is an indirect semiconductor with bandgap of 1.40 (2.07) eV using PBE (HSE06) functional. Optical properties simulation suggests that PdPSe is capable of absorbing a substantial range of visible to ultraviolet light. Band alignment analysis also reveals the compatibility of PdPSe for water splitting photocatalysis application. By combining the electrical and thermal transport properties of PdPSe, we show that a high PF is achievable at room temperature, thus making PdPSe a candidate material for thermoelectric application. Our findings reveal the strong potential of penta-PdPSe monolayer for a wide array of applications, including optoelectronic, water splitting and thermoelectric device applications. © 2021, CC BY.

The ethanol manufacturing plant located in Phanomsarakham district, Chachoengsao province east of Thailand. The plant requires to improve the process by replacing a new boiler with capacity for generating 30 tons per hour of saturated steam. The boiler selection process is determining the steam required for the process, then determine the fuels available and their usability after that compare different types of boiler and finish the process with boiler purchasing. There are four available fuels in the area where the case study plant located are bituminous coal, wood, fuel oil C, and LPG. Consider by compared the heating value, fuel required to consume by the boiler and reference of each. The most possibility of fuel for the case study plant is bituminous coal.

Benefit for clinical melanoma treatments, the transdermal neoadjuvant therapy could reduce surgery region and increase immunotherapy efficacy. Using lipoplex (Lipo-PEG-PEI-complex, LPPC) encapsulated doxorubicin (DOX) and carrying CpG oligodeoxynucleotide;the transdermally administered nano-liposomal drug complex (LPPC-DOX-CpG) would have high cytotoxicity and immunostimulatory activity to suppress systemic metastasis of melanoma. LPPC-DOX-CpG dramatically suppressed subcutaneous melanoma growth by inducing tumor cell apoptosis and recruiting immune cells into the tumor area. Animal studies further showed that the colonization and growth of spontaneously metastatic melanoma cells in the liver and lung were suppressed by transdermal LPPC-DOX-CpG. Furthermore, NGS analysis revealed IFN-γ and NF-κB pathways were triggered to recruit and activate the antigen-presenting-cells and effecter cells, which could activate the anti-tumor responses as the major mechanism responsible for the therapeutic effect of LPPC-DOX-CpG. Finally, we have successfully proved transdermal LPPC-DOX-CpG as a promising penetrative carrier to activate systemic anti-tumor immunity against subcutaneous and metastatic tumor. © 2022

Implementation Effectiveness of Mercury Elimination Policies in Artisanal Small-Scale Gold Mining

This study evaluated the implementation effectiveness of mercury elimination policies in the Artisanal Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) at Bolaang Mongondow District. A qualitative method used as an explanatory design through interviews and questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed using the Regulatory Gap Analysis method. Based on the data obtained, only 33% of respondents (community representatives) were aware of the mercury elimination policy. 75% of respondents (relevant agencies) have been aware of UU No. 11/2017 about the ratification of the Minamata Convention and the national action plan of the mercury elimination in gold processing in 2014-2018 ESDM (RAN-PPM PE 2014-2018 ESDM). 63% of respondents were aware of PP No. 21/2019 about the national action plan for reduction and elimination of mercury (PP 21/2019 RAN-PPM), and only 50% of respondents who were aware of PMK No. 57/2016 about the national action plan for controlling health impacts due to mercury exposure in 2016-2020 (PMK 57/2016 RAN-PDKAM). The average gap value based on the evaluation result of each policy was: -0.4 in RAN-PPM PE 2014-2018 ESDM, -0.24 in PP 21/2019 RAN-PPM, and -0.21 in PMK 57/2016 RAN-PDKAM. Therefore, the implementation of these policies is unsuccessful in overcoming mercury usage in the ASGM.

This survey design aims to examine financial literacy, which is a matter of concern in Thailand. The conceptual gamification design in this study aims to illustrate the impact of positive feedback during game activities on players' behavior. Gamified activities are designed to provide positive feedback by using a saving and expense financial activity. This positive feedback will persuade players to change their financial behavior. The significance of the financial literacy findings are positive, implying that the higher the level of the satisfaction about their financial plan and financial knowledge, the more likely it is that it will affect their behavior. This is a working research to apply the gamification workflow which encourages people to live their lives with advanced technology.

One of the main issues in agriculture in this climate change era is the water crisis. It caused a drought that affected the delay of rice cultivation. A study found that Wonogiri Regency has very critical with a value of 163.1%. Hence, it is necessary to have an alternative solution to overcome it. In this case, utilizing rain by harvesting rainwater (RWH) can be used as an alternative to meet water needs during the dry season and for various other uses. One of the RWH applications is a small-farm reservoir (SFR). To identify the potential locations for RWH is using location suitability modelling based on GIS. The determination of the location depends on biophysical criteria such as rainfall, slope, soil texture, stream order, and land use. The socio-economic attributes consist of the distance to the river, road, settlement, and agriculture. To obtain the suitability location, after all of the maps are generated, next is reclassify the value to 0 and 1. In the end, the maps calculate with a raster calculator to define the suitability location that has value 1. Location and dimension details can find out. This study aims to determine the potential of RWH for agriculture (in specific, SFR) at Keduang Sub-watershed as a consideration for stakeholders' decision. The results showed 226 areas are potential for SFR implementation and will make it easier for stakeholders to decide by comparing the suitability location map and the long-term strategic map.

An effective early diagnosis is important for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) management. This study reveals a novel RA detection method using bacteriorhodopsin as a photoelectric transducer, a light-driven proton pump in purple membranes (PMs). It was devised by covalently conjugating a PM monolayer-coated electrode with a citrullinated-inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor heavy chain 3 (ITIH3)542–556 peptide that recognizes the serum RA-associated autoantibodies. The direct serum coating decreased the photocurrents in the biosensor, with the reduction in the photocurrent caused by coating with an RA-patient serum that is significantly larger than that with a healthy-control serum (38.1% vs. 20.2%). The difference in the reduction in the photocurrent between those two serum groups widened after the serum-coated biosensor was further labeled with gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-conjugated anti-IgA (anti-IgA-AuNP) (53.6% vs. 30.6%). Both atomic force microscopic (AFM) and Raman analyses confirmed the sequential peptide, serum, and anti-IgA-AuNP coatings on the PM-coated substrates. The reductions in the photocurrent measured in both the serum and anti-IgA-AuNPs coating steps correlated well with the results using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits (Spearman rho = 0.805 and 0.787, respectively), with both a sensitivity and specificity close to 100% in both steps. It was shown that an RA diagnosis can be performed in either a single- or two-step mode using the developed biosensor. © 2023 by the authors.
