Simulating quantum many-body dynamics is important both for fundamental understanding of physics and practical applications for quantum information processing. Therefore, classical simulation methods have been developed so far. Specifically, the Trotter-Suzuki decomposition can analyze a highly complex quantum dynamics, if the number of qubits is sufficiently small so that main memory can store the state vector. However, simulation of quantum dynamics via Trotter-Suzuki decomposition requires huge number of steps, each of which accesses the state vector, and hence the simulation time becomes impractically long. To settle this issue, we propose a technique to accelerate simulation of quantum dynamics via simultaneous diagonalization of mutually commuting Pauli groups, which is also attracting a lot of attention to reduce the measurement overheads in quantum algorithms. We group the Hamiltonian into mutually commputing Pauli strings, and each of them are diagonalized in the computational basis via a Clifford transformation. Since diagonal operators are applied on the state vector simultaneously with minimum memory access, this method successfully use performance of highly parallel processors such as Graphics Processing Units (GPU). Compared to an implementation using one of the fastest simulators of quantum computers, the numerical experiments have shown that our method provides a few tens of times acceleration. Quantum computers (QCs), which work based on the law of quantum mechanics, are expected to be faster than classical computers in several computational tasks such as prime factoring and simulation of quantum many-body systems. In the last decade, research and development of QCs have rapidly advanced. Now hundreds of physical qubits are at our disposal, and one can find several remarkable experiments actually outperforming the classical computer in a specific computational task. On the other hand, it is unclear what the typical usages of the QCs are. Here we conduct an extensive survey on the papers that are posted in the quant-ph section in arXiv and claim to have used QCs in their abstracts. To understand the current situation of the research and development of the QCs, we evaluated the descriptive statistics about the papers, including the number of qubits employed, QPU vendors, application domains and so on. Our survey shows that the annual number of publications is increasing, and the typical number of qubits employed is about six to ten, growing along with the increase in the quantum volume (QV). Most of the preprints are devoted to applications such as quantum machine learning, condensed matter physics, and quantum chemistry, while quantum error correction and quantum noise mitigation use more qubits than the other topics. These imply that the increase in QV is fundamentally relevant, and more experiments for quantum error correction, and noise mitigation using shallow circuits with more qubits will take place. The decoherence phenomenon has been widely studied in different types of quantum walks. In this work we show how to model decoherence inspired by percolation on staggered quantum walks. Two models of unitary noise are described: breaking polygons and breaking vertices. The evolution operators subject to these noises are obtained, and the equivalence to the coined quantum walk model is presented. Further, we numerically analyze the effect of these decoherence models on the two-dimensional grid of 4-cliques. We examine how these perturbations affect the quantum walk based search algorithm in this graph and how expanding the tessellation intersection can make it more robust against decoherence.

In this work, we consider decoupling a bipartite quantum state via a general quantum channel. We propose a joint state-channel decoupling approach to obtain a one-shot error exponent bound without smoothing, in which trace distance is used to measure how good the decoupling is. The established exponent is expressed in terms of a sum of two sandwiched Rényi entropies, one quantifying the amount of initial correlation between the state and environment, while the other characterizing the effectiveness of the quantum channel. This gives an explicit exponential decay of the decoupling error in the whole achievable region, which was missing in the previous results [Commun. Math. Phys. 328, 2014]. Moreover, it strengthens the error exponent bound obtained in a recent work [IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, 69(12), 2023], for exponent from the channel part. As an application, we establish a one-shot error exponent bound for quantum channel coding given by a sandwiched Rényi coherent information. © 2024, CC BY.

In aid of delivering quality Information Technology Education in the Philippines and to upscale the quality of ITE in the country, organizations, and other universities have participated in extra-curricular and academic activities. The study aimed at determining the associated relationships among six hundred competitors and mentors in a skills competition using the APRIORI Algorithm. The CRISP-DM Model and Python programming language were utilized in the study. Accordingly, there were thirteen (13) predicted rules that will allow competing institutions to carefully study before joining the IT Skills Olympics Competition, as such, the rules set can guide each competing school to design a program for their competing teams and select category of the competition to compete in the future. The researchers recommend further empirical analysis using the dataset by employing other machine learning techniques and algorithms. © 2022 IEEE.

In a recent paper by Sajindra et al. [1], the soil nutrient levels, specifically nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, in organic cabbage cultivation were predicted using a deep learning model. This model was designed with a total of four hidden layers, excluding the input and output layers, with each hidden layer meticulously crafted to contain ten nodes. The selection of the tangent sigmoid transfer function as the optimal activation function for the dataset was based on considerations such as the coefficient of correlation, mean squared error, and the accuracy of the predicted results. Throughout this study, the objective is to justify the tangent sigmoid transfer function and provide mathematical justification for the obtained results. • This paper presents the comprehensive methodology for the development of deep neural network for predict the soil nutrient levels. • Tangent Sigmoid transfer function usage is justified in predictions. • Methodology can be adapted to any similar real-world scenarios. © 2024 The Author(s)

This article investigates a control system within the context of sixth-generation wireless networks. The remote control performance optimization confronts the technical challenges that arise from the intricate interactions between communication and control sub-systems, asking for a co-design. Considering the system dynamics, we formulate the sequential co-design decision-makings of communication and control over a discrete time horizon as a Markov decision process, for which a practical offline learning framework is proposed. Our proposed framework integrates large language models into the elements of reinforcement learning. We present a case study on the age of semantics-aware communication and control co-design to showcase the potential of our proposed learning framework. Furthermore, we discuss the open issues remaining to make our offline learning framework feasible for real-world implementations and highlight the research directions for future explorations. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have brought unprecedented opportunities to meet massive behavioral data access and personalization requirements for Internet of Behavior (IoB). They facilitate the communication and computing resource allocation to guarantee low delay and energy consumption demands in healthcare. This article presents an improved offloading algorithm for Mobile Edge computing (MEC) based on Deep Q Network (DQN) and Simulated Annealing (SA) for IoB. Firstly, we analyze the network model and establish a task cost function based on processing delay and energy consumption. Secondly, we define a Distributed Optimization Problem (DOP) to maximize individual utilities and system utility, which is proved to be a potential countermeasure. Thirdly, we conduct Markov modeling for the current offloading strategy-making scheme and define the objectives and constraints of the optimization function. At the same time, the SA is introduced into the DQN Algorithm, which improves the capacity of the algorithm by focusing on the exploration in the early stage and following the experience value in the later stage. From the simulation results, we can see that compared with the traditional scheme, the proposed strategy can maximize the utilization of the system and reduce processing delay and energy consumption. © 2022 Association for computing Machinery.

Biodiesel has gained tremendous attention from researchers due to its environmentally friendly and renewable fuel manufactured domestically from vegetable oils or animal fats. Multiple factors, including emission and fuel efficiency, measure the performance of biodiesel. These characteristics make the process of evaluation and benchmarking a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem. This research attempts to survey the literature for multi-criteria decision-making applications on biodiesel. This systematic review was carried out on four scientific databases: PubMed, scienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, and WoS. The collected articles were summarized and mapped into a coherent taxonomy, while the main challenges, motivations, and recommendations were collected and categorized for better understanding and finding out essential characteristics. The final set of included articles was 33, and they were categorized into six different categories. Most articles (n=15/33) investigated the evaluation and selection of biodiesel alternatives using MCDM. Furthermore, a state-of-art bibliometric analysis is provided. The analysis demonstrates several challenges in this area, such as source selection, optimum fuel blending, and uncertainty. This article is expected to assist future researchers in addressing the current gaps and contribute to advancing this area. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

We study the variability of vertically stacked gate-all-around silicon nanosheet (GAA Si NS) complementary field-effect transistors (CFETs). The process variation effect (PVE), the work function fluctuation (WKF), and the random dopant fluctuation (RDF) of CFETs are statistically estimated using an experimentally validated device simulation technique. Among five factors of PVE, the channel thickness (T Nch /T Pch ), the channel width (W ch ), and the gate length (L G ) are significant. Owing to superior GAA channel control and increased effective gate area, both WKF and RDF are suppressed. Notably, the PVE on both N-/P-FETs of GAA Si CFET induce the largest off-state current fluctuations of 80% and 278%, respectively, because the device characteristic is very sensitive to the layer thickness and width of channel.
