Because of the distribution and redundancy of data, the query of distributed database becomes very comp.ex. How to make optimized query is particularly important. At present, there are mainly the concentration query, the global user query, genetic algorithm, back tracking query, and so on, but all have very low efficiency in query. According to the characteristics of the distributed database, this paper used abduction division to make rational distribution of data, then gave an optimized peer to peer query method on the basis of back tracking method. By making some connection tables based on the characteristics of data, the user received relevant information from these tables, thus narrowing the range and received the result rapidly, thereby greatly improving the distributed database query efficiency.

In this paper, a fast face location method for video surveillance is presented, which combines the motion information and skin-color feature. Firstly, symmetrical frame difference is used to acquire the motion area. Then, the skin-color segmentation algorithm based on BP (back-error-propagation) neural network is used to extract the face candidates in the motion area. Finally, the candidate face regions are examined with the knowledge of human face. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has high speed and low error-detection rate, so it can be used in the real-time video surveillance system.

By using the direction selection ability and frequency locality of Gabor filter, the corresponding relation between the width of stroke of Chinese characters and frequency of the filter is established. Considering the multi-direction of stroke and multi-peak values of stroke width, the two-dimensional Gabor wavelet is used to analyze the Chinese character image in multi-scale and multi-direction. Through drawing the output coefficients of filters as statistic features, the high performance of the character recognition is realized. The experiment results show that the kind of method is superior to other methods, especially on gray or binary character images recognition with low resolution.

The Motion capture technology based on optics has attracted more and more attention. But the precision and speed in converting from the marker space position to human motion parameters is still a problem, in which estimating the center of the joint rotation is the key duty. It is focused on the solid relationship between marker and its relative joint center, adopted the MSQ methodology, and adjusted the material algorithm according the factual system. As Wu's method, based on symbolic comp.tation, has found applications in more and more fields, it is challenged by more and more comp.icated calculation problems. The soul of the method, dividing and ruling problem, is very suitable for distributed comp.tation. In this paper, a high performance comp.ting technique is introduced into the symbolic comp.tation and a distributed comp.ting model (DCM) for Wu's method over Internet is put forward. First, the feasibility and requirement for distributed comp.tation of Wu's method is analyzed. Then the data communications for big integers and polynomials are put forward in detail, and finally the design and implementation for DCM based on ELIMINO and Globus Toolkits 3 are presented.

Aimed at the shortcomings of the prediction methods for the passenger traffic volume of railway, the improved BP neural network is adopted to predict the time serial of the railway passenger traffic volume. The improved BP neural network theory is analyzed. The railway passenger traffic volume from 1980 to 1998 is normalized. The time serial neural network prediction model of railway passenger traffic volume is set up. The network parameters is designed. The network learning and training simulation experiment is carried out. The prediction results of the improved and normal BP neural network are comp.red and analyzed. The prediction result of the improved BP neural network is proved to be more accurate and precise.

The acoustic characteristics and the perceived boundary strength of information unit boundaries in monologues are studied. The studied information units were clauses, sentences and paragraphs. The acoustic analysis was based on a prosodically labeled corpus of ten monologues. The main results were as follows: (a) There is a significant difference in the perceived degree of boundary strength for clauses (corresponding to intonational phrase), sentences (including simple sentences and comp.ex sentences) and paragraphs. There is no significant difference in the perceived degree of the boundary strength at the edges of simple and comp.ex sentences, nor is there significant difference in the acoustic variables measured (e.g. pitch reset and silence), suggesting that simple and comp.ex sentences constitute a single type of prosodic constituent, (b) The pitch-based cue used to distinguish between different information units appears to be the difference between pre- and post-boundary syllables, but not simply the pitch of either syllable alone, (c) Declination occurs within intonational phrases, but not across or between larger units, (d) Silent pauses are longer and more varied between larger units. Moreover, there is a significant positive correlation between silent pause duration and the degree of pitch reset at clause boundary.
