A control scheme combined with backstepping, radius basis function (RBF) neural networks and adaptive control is proposed for the stabilization of nonlinear system with input and state delay. By using state transformation, the original system is converted to the system without input delay. The RBF neural network is employed to estimate the unknown continuous function. The controller is designed for the converted system so that the closed-loop system is bounded. According to the relation between the original system and the converted one, the state of the original system is proved to be bounded. The control scheme ensures that the closed-loop system is semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded. © 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

To solve the difficulty that the applications of disturbance observer (DOB) approaches have been limited to minimum phase systems, a neural network disturbance observer using RBFN (RBFNDOB) is proposed for complex nonlinear systems, i.e., minimum phase system and non-minimum phase system, which may be with matching or mismatching disturbances. The proposed RBFNDOB is a simple modification of the original DOB by using a RBFN to identify the inverse model of system which can track the parameter variations of real system by an on-line learning algorithm. The non-minimum phase system can be transformed into minimum phase system by constructing a pseudo-system to solve the zero dynamics in the right half plane. The RBFNDOB combining with a feedback controller can effectively suppress the disturbances of the closed-loop systems. The effectiveness and validity of the proposed control algorithm can be verified by simulations. © 2011 Chinese Assoc of Automati.

In this study, overcurrent protection technique is investigated for the voltage regulation problem of the DC–DC buck converter system with time-varying disturbances and uncertainties. Normally, fast dynamics during the start-up phase generates large transient current. The overlarge transient current may lead to risks of hardware damage. By selecting conservative control parameters, the current constrained performance can be realised. However, the transient performance and disturbance rejection ability are sacrificed. It is of significant importance to design a controller which keeps a good balance between dynamic performance and overcurrent protection. Moreover, the control accuracy is inevitable affected by the time-varying disturbances effects, including load variations, input voltage fluctuations and circuit parameter perturbations. In this paper, the control design is divided into two parts. Firstly, by inserting a dynamic penalty term into the state feedback controller, a baseline current-constrained scheme is developed. Rigorous stability analysis and current constraint performance are given under the presented baseline controller. Secondly, taking the time-varying disturbances into account, a novel GPI observer-based composite current-constrained controller can be developed by combining disturbance estimations and the baseline controller. In this paper, we propose a hybrid algorithm that combines an improved Artificial Potential Field (APF) method with the Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm for path planning of an electric power operation robot manipulator in complex distribution grid environments. To address the unreachable target issue inherent in traditional APF, we introduce a distance regulation factor to optimize the repulsive function. This modification allows the manipulator to smoothly approach the target point as it nears, while the repulsion from obstacles gradually decreases. Additionally, to overcome the limitations of the traditional SA algorithm, such as its tendency to get trapped in local minimum solutions and its inefficiency in complex environments, we propose an adaptive temperature rise strategy. This strategy increases the temperature, enhancing the probability of escaping local optimal solutions. When the APF algorithm becomes trapped in a local optimum, the improved SA algorithm is applied to escape the local minimum. Once the local optimum is avoided, the algorithm switches back to APF to continue the path planning process. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed improved APF-SA algorithm adapts effectively to various complex environments, achieving shorter planning times and higher success rates compared to traditional APF and SA algorithms. It successfully resolves the unreachable target and local minimum problems associated with APF. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed APF-SA fusion algorithm is validated through experiments conducted on an electric power operation robot experimental platform for distribution grid applications.

Image measurement, as a noncontact pose-measurement technology, has been widely applied in various space exploration and measurement tasks in the aerospace industry. It captures spatial targets through visual imaging devices, combines the three-dimensional (3D) spatial features of the targets and their two-dimensional projections in the image, and calculates the pose parameters of the targets. This paper introduces the current development status of a rocket-borne image-measurement device and summarizes the problems it encounters and the corresponding solutions. Based on two specific applications, namely the separation of the rocket body and the measurement of the rocket-nozzle attitude, the principles and development of key technologies for rocket-borne image measurement in the aerospace field are summarized. Finally, based on the current research status and key technology analysis, the main challenges of rocketborne image-measurement technology are discussed and recommendations for future development are provided. © 2025 Universitat zu Koln. The rail pressure control in diesel high-pressure common rail (HPCR) system is considered as one of the key issues for precise control of fuel injection. This study investigates the application of generalised proportional integral observer (GPIO)based control in diesel HPCR system. Firstly, a non-linear mathematical model of HPCR system which uses the metering unit as the actuator is established based on hydromechanics under some proper simplifications. Secondly, a GPIO is developed to estimate the mismatched disturbance caused by the injection process. Then a composite controller combining GPIO and backstepping control method is designed. By introducing the disturbance estimations into the control design process, the disturbance rejection capability of the system is promisingly enhanced. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is validated by the simulation results. © 2019 Institution of engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.

Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) since 2002 has been proposed by Dr. Li Xiao-lei more than ten years, and has been widely used in various engineering fields. However, since a lot of comprehensive standard running tests has not yet been made with the algorithm, it has not yet been unanimously recognized by the international academic community. By 34 Benchmark Functions tested with AFSA, the result evaluation for functions that are applicable and not applicable by AFSA is summarized. Also in order to overcome the drawbacks of Global Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (GAFSA) such as slow convergence and low precision, a modified GAFSA(MS_GAFSA) is proposed. Combined with GAFSA and Modified Simplex, the algorithm can improve the convergence speed and precision of optimization. When GAFSA converges to the global optimum nearby, a simplex is constructed and the algorithm switches to Modified Simplex method which will continue to optimize until a certain stop condition is satisfied. Take the best point of simplex vertex at this time as the optimal value. The computational results on 34 Benchmark functions show that MS_GAFSA does improve in optimizing accuracy and convergence speed. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
