A comparative techno-economic analysis for implementation of carbon dioxide to chemicals processes

CO_(2)-based carbon-neutral organics production processes could potentially reshape the chemical ***,their feasibility and net carbon footprint rely strongly on the sources of H_(2).Herein,we present a comprehensive comparative techno-economic analysis of CO_(2)-based methanol(CO_(2)TM)and aolefins(CO_(2)TO)manufacturing using various feedstock supply modes:(1)the standalone mode with external CO_(2)but H_(2)from on-site water electrolysis,(2)the integrated mode with both CO_(2)and H_(2)recovered from coal-chemical plants,and(3)the integrated mode with recycled CO_(2)but H_(2)from on-site water *** integration of CO_(2)TM and CO_(2)TO into coal-to-olefins(CTO)and coal-to-methanol(CTM)facilities is currently cost-effective and can reduce net CO_(2)emissions by 65.7%and 68.5%,resulting in a three-fold and two-fold increase in carbon efficiency,*** carbon tax policies and electrolysis technologies continue to evolve,standalone CO_(2)TM and CO_(2)TO are projected to become more economically competitive than CTO and CTM by 2035-2045.

Low Earth Orbit(LEO)multibeam satellites will be widely used in the next generation of satellite communication systems,whose inter-beam interference will inevitably limit the performance of the whole *** precoding such as Tomlinson-Harashima precoding(THP)algorithm has been proved to be a promising technology to solve this problem,which has smaller noise amplification effect compared with linear ***,the similarity of different user channels(defined as channel correlation)will degrade the performance of THP *** this paper,we qualitatively analyze the inter-beam interference in the whole process of LEO satellite over a specific coverage area,and the impact of channel correlation on Signal-to-Noise Ratio(SNR)of receivers when THP is *** user grouping algorithm is proposed based on the analysis of channel correlation,which could decrease the number of users with high channel correlation in each precoding group,thus improve the performance of ***,our algorithm is designed under the premise of co-frequency deployment and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM),which leads to more users under severe inter-beam interference compared to the existing research on geostationary orbit satellites broadcasting *** results show that the proposed user grouping algorithm possesses higher channel capacity and better bit error rate(BER)performance in high SNR conditions relative to existing works.

It is well-established that terrestrial communication systems may fail during emergencies such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods. Fortunately, with the rapid advancement of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network technology, deploying UAV nodes as aerial base stations (BSs) is assuming an increasingly crucial role in facilitating downlink transmissions and restoring ground communication capabilities. However, a single UAV node is not sufficient to meet the requirements. Inspired by distributed communication, we introduce a performance analysis framework based on stochastic geometry to analyze the distributed coordinated multi-point (CoMP) UAV-assisted communication network. Specifically, we assume that all UAV nodes follow a homogeneous Poisson point process (PPP) and maintain a constant altitude. The entire space is tessellated by multiple hexagons, with multiple UAV nodes within each hexagonal region working together to serve terrestrial user equipments (UEs). For this region-centric cooperative model, we derive an exact expression for the coverage probability to quantify the performance improvement enabled by UAVs, analyze the upper bound of the coverage probability, and provide a simplified approximation. We then compare this model to a user-centric model. Our numerical findings demonstrate that the cooperation of UAV nodes can significantly enhance the coverage probability and save spectrum resources. © 2024 IEEE.

Cooperative output regulation of heterogeneous directed multi-agent systems:a fully distributed model-free reinforcement learning framework

In this paper, the cooperative output regulation(COR) problem of a class of unknown heterogeneous multi-agent systems(MASs) with directed graphs is studied via a model-free reinforcement learning(RL) based fully distributed eventtriggered control(ETC) strategy. First, we consider the scenario that the exosystem is accessible globally to all agents, an internal model-based augmented algebraic Riccati equation(AARE) is constructed, and its solution is learned by the proposed model-free RL algorithm via online input-output data. Further, for the scenario that the exosystem is accessible only to its adjacent followers, the distributed observers are designed for each agent to get the state of the exosystem, and an internal modelbased fully distributed adaptive ETC protocol is then synthesized to construct the corresponding AARE, and the feedback gain matrix is learned in a model-free fashion. The model-free RL-based control protocol proposed in this paper can not only remove the prior knowledge of agents' dynamics, but also release the dependence on global information by the adaptive event-triggered mechanism(ETM) and the new graph-based Lyapunov function. Finally, simulation results are illustrated to show the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

P3DC:Reducing DRAM Cache Hit Latency by Hybrid Mappings

Die-stacked dynamic random access memory(DRAM)caches are increasingly advocated to bridge the performance gap between the on-chip cache and the main *** fully realize their potential,it is essential to improve DRAM cache hit rate and lower its cache hit *** order to take advantage of the high hit-rate of set-association and the low hit latency of direct-mapping at the same time,we propose a partial direct-mapped die-stacked DRAM cache called *** design is motivated by a key observation,i.e.,applying a unified mapping policy to different types of blocks cannot achieve a high cache hit rate and low hit latency *** address this problem,P3DC classifies data blocks into leading blocks and following blocks,and places them at static positions and dynamic positions,respectively,in a unified set-associative *** also propose a replacement policy to balance the miss penalty and the temporal locality of different *** addition,P3DC provides a policy to mitigate cache thrashing due to block type *** results demonstrate that P3DC can reduce the cache hit latency by 20.5%while achieving a similar cache hit rate compared with typical set-associative caches.P3DC improves the instructions per cycle(IPC)by up to 66%(12%on average)compared with the state-of-the-art direct-mapped cache—BEAR,and by up to 19%(6%on average)compared with the tag-data decoupled set-associative cache—DEC-A8.

It is a common military activity to carry out joint fire strike against sea/air-based targets with high threat/value but strong defense ability. The especially high time sensitivity requires immediate actions, leaving little time for planning, greatly challenging the commanders' experience and ability of to work under pressure. This will be changed by AI technologies. A CBR and focus learning based joint fire strike plan generation method is proposed. In peacetime, the scenarios and planning products that the operational staff study and drill are accumulated. The system will automatically recommend reference cases suitable for the current situation according to the new task and battlefield situation, and incrementally learn the concerns of the proficient staff on reference case selection facing tasks. The method has been verified feasible and effective through experiments, which can generate joint strike plans in seconds, and significantly reduce the error rate of the novice staffs, with certain reference value to the command information system development. © 2022 ACM.

Synergy Between Soft Feet and an Active Tail to Enhance the Climbing Ability of a Bio-inspired Climbing Robot

Lizards use the synergy between their feet and tail to climb on slopes and vertical *** use their soft adhesive feet with millions of small hairs to increase their contact area with the terrain surface and press their tails against the terrain to actively maintain stability during *** by this,we propose a bio-inspired climbing robot based on a new approach wherein the synergy between soft feet and an active tail with a soft adhesive tip allows the robot to climb stably on even and uneven terrains at different slope *** evaluate and compare the climbing performance of the robot on three different terrains(hard,soft,and fluffy)at different slope *** robot configurations are employed,including those with standard hard feet and soft feet in combination with an active tail-with and without a soft *** experimental results show that the robot having soft feet and a tail with the soft tip achieves the best climbing performance on all terrains,with maximum climbing slopes of 40°,45°,and 50°on fluffy,soft,and hard terrains,*** payload capacity depends on the type of terrain and the inclination ***,our robot performs multi-terrain transitions(climbing from horizontal to sloped terrains)on three different terrains of a *** approach can allow a climbing robot to walk and climb on different terrains,extending the operational range of the robot to areas with complex terrains and slopes,e.g.,in inspection,exploration,and construction.

Latency minimization for multiuser computation offloading in fog-radio access networks

Recently,the Fog-Radio Access Network(F-RAN)has gained considerable attention,because of its flexible architecture that allows rapid response to user *** this paper,computational offloading in F-RAN is considered,where multiple User Equipments(UEs)offload their computational tasks to the F-RAN through fog *** UE can select one of the fog nodes to offload its task,and each fog node may serve multiple *** tasks are computed by the fog nodes or further offloaded to the cloud via a capacity-limited fronhaul *** order to compute all UEs'tasks quickly,joint optimization of UE-Fog association,radio and computation resources of F-RAN is proposed to minimize the maximum latency of all *** min-max problem is formulated as a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Program(MINP).To tackle it,first,MINP is reformulated as a continuous optimization problem,and then the Majorization Minimization(MM)method is used to find a *** MM approach that we develop is unconventional in that each MM subproblem is solved inexactly with the same provable convergence guarantee as the exact MM,thereby reducing the complexity of MM *** addition,a cooperative offloading model is considered,where the fog nodes compress-and-forward their received signals to the *** this model,a similar min-max latency optimization problem is formulated and tackled by the inexact *** results show that the proposed algorithms outperform some offloading strategies,and that the cooperative offloading can exploit transmission diversity better than noncooperative offloading to achieve better latency performance.
