This paper proposes a measurement technique for an integrated complex filter. The proposed method is based on two measurement methods with integrated circuitry for calibration. It is accomplished by applying square waves to an FUT (Filter Under Test) instead of sinusoidal waves or by superposing transfer characteristics obtained by applying a single sinusoidal wave to an FUT. In both of the above methods, the output signal connected to the external measurement equipment via a 50 Ω coaxial cable and so on. In this case, the output signal of the FUT should be amplified by internal or external amplifiers, which degrades the response. However, it is cancelled out by the proposed calibration circuitry with some analog switches. In addition to the above, for the RC polyphase filter, the source resistance and the load capacitance degrade the measurement results and their effect is discussed. The validity of the proposal is confirmed through computer simulation for a third-order RCPF whose passband is 8–40 MHz fabricated by Phenitec 0.6 µm CMOs process. It is shown that the measurement error is −1.10 dB for the square-wave method and −1.00 dB and −0.43 degrees for the superposition method at 40 MHz. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

This paper describes the implementation and evaluation of an RC polyphase filter (RCPF) and circuitry for measuring its frequency characteristics. The integrated circuit is fabricated on a 0.6 µm CMOs process and its supply voltage is 5 V. The integrated circuit includes a filter under test (FUT), a four-phase square wave generator, several analog switches and differential amplifiers to amplify the high-impedance signals of the RCPF. This FUT is a third-order complex RCPF whose passband is 8 − 40 MHz. This paper describes the design of these circuits in detail. This integrated circuit can select two measurement methods by means of external control signals. The first method uses a four-phase square wave. The frequency characteristics are measured by using an on-chip four-phase square wave generator driven by an external clock generator and by a spectrum analyzer tuned to the fundamental frequency. The second method uses an external network analyzer. Furthermore, this integrated circuit is equipped with a calibration circuit to measure the frequency characteristics of the circuitry except FUT by passing through the input / output signals of the FUT. As a result, the frequency characteristics of the FUT itself can be accurately measured. The effectiveness is confirmed through evaluation of the fabricated integrated circuit. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

A self-Healing WDM Access Network with Protected Fiber and FsO Link Paths Effective Against Fiber Breaks

In this article, an additional protected fiber and free-space optical (FsO) link path is proposed, to provide self-healing capabilities for protection against fiber faults in wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON) systems. The new optical line terminal (OLT), remote node (RN), and optical network unit (ONU) in the presented PON architecture result in self-protective function against fiber breakpoints. In the measurement, 25 Gbit/s on-off keying (OOK) modulation was applied on each WDM channel to assess the downstream and upstream signals after 25 km single-mode fiber (sMF) and 25 km sMF + 2 m FsO connections, respectively. In addition to using protected fiber paths for self-healing operations. This PON system can also apply the FsO link method. The measured bit error rate (BER) for all downstream and upstream traffic was maintained below 3.8 × 10−3 with forward error correction (FEC). The detected optical power sensitivity of the proposed self-restorative fiber- and FsO-based WDM-PON for downstream and upstream WDM signals ranged from −33.5 to −28.5 dBm and from −33 to −28.5 dBm, respectively, and the corresponding power budgets of the downstream and upstream WDM signals were between 29.5 and 30.5 dB and 33 and 38 dB, respectively. © 2025 by the authors.

This study aims to find articles and clauses from the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945) using the Vector space Model method that calculates the similarity of many documents. One document is represented by one clause from each article of the 1945 Constitution. The next step is pre-processing by deleting unnecessary words (stopwords) and changing it into basic words (stemmer) in the Indonesian language. Each document will be indexed to speed up query and simplify the weighting. Words weighting in documents is performed using the TF-IDF (Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency) algorithm by calculating the frequency of words in documents and all documents. The document search results will be presented in the ranking with the largest number of scoring appears at the top (descend sorting). The word search in this system more or less takes 90-100 milliseconds in 73 documents. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Currently, research in music informatics focuses extensively on music theory, particularly on the theoretical systems of Western classical music dating back to the 19th century. However, contemporary popular music genres such as pop, rock, and jazz often rely on jazz music theory, which is an evolution from classical music theory. To make music informatics research more practical and relevant to modern music composition, it is essential to explore music analysis based on jazz music theory using computational methods. In this study, we attempt to perform jazz music analysis computationally. Jazz music theory primarily centers around chord progressions. Therefore, Tonal Pitch space (TPs) and its extension to jazz music theory, TPs-ExJ, are valuable tools for our investigation. We implement and modify these computational music theories to calculate the "chord distance,"a metric indicating the naturalness of chord progressions. This allows us to estimate the "key"of a piece of music, a concept determined by human sensibility, using computational techniques. Although the experimental results for key estimation are not particularly high, we believe that the theoretical framework proposed in this study forms a solid foundation for complex chord progressions' key estimation in jazz music. © 2023 ACM.

Human performers interpret and perform a piece of music based on their own musical sensibilities and the musical characteristics they read from the information in the score. In doing so, the changes in speed and volume that appear in the performance are called performance expressions. This performance expression changes each time the music piece or performer changes, and we believe that formalizing this expression will make it possible to perform more human-like performances on a computer. In this study, we focused on the fact that Generative Theory of Tonal Music (GTTM) [1], one of the cognitive music theories, uses a parameter called tension value to analyze a piece of music. However, one method of calculating tension values, hierarchical tension values, is not suitable for automatic analysis because it requires consideration based on advanced musical knowledge when calculating them. Therefore, this study uses a parameter called sequential tension value, which is obtained by a different calculation method. Although sequential tension values are less accurate than hierarchical tension values, they have the advantage of being easy to calculate and suitable for automatic analysis. This paper discusses how to improve the accuracy of analysis of musical pieces using sequential tension values and how each component of the musical structure that makes up the sequential tension value affects the analysis results. Multiple regression analysis is used for this analysis, with the musical expression obtained from the local tempo and volume changes for each event calculated from the score data as the objective variable and the musical symbols in each event as the explanatory variables. The accuracy of the obtained regression model is compared with the methods used in previous studies, indicating that the analysis using sequential tension values is useful for music analysis. © 2023 ACM.

The Brimob Corps is a special police force, just like the special military detachments held by the TNI such as Paskhas and so on. At present brigade corps police national is busy being discussed in the real world and cyberspace, especially on social media twitter. Many opinions about the brigade corps police national so there are positive and negative opinions. social media twitter is now one places to spread information about brigade corps police national. This study cases uses text mining techniques with support vector machine (sVM) method which aims to classify public sentiments towards brigade corps police national on twitter. The dataset used is tweet in Indonesian with keyword "Brimob" with a total dataset of 1000 tweets. Text mining, transform, tokenize, stemming, and classification, etc. techniques are useful for building classification and analysis of sentiment. RapidMiner and Gataframework are also used to help create sentiment analysis to measure classification values. Accuracy values obtained with support vector machine (sVM) approach 86,96%, with precision values of 86,96%, and recall values of 86,96%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Onset detection is a fundamental task in music information retrieval (MIR). Classical approaches using onset detection functions (ODFs) and hand-crafted peak-picking methods are outperformed by those utilizing neural networks, which are considered state-of-the-art. However, these methods bring much more computational costs and thus can be unfavored when implementing onset detections on low-performance devices. Previous work utilizing both an ODF and a recurrent neural network (RNN) provides another option as a trade-off between accuracy and processing speed. However, it only used one single ODF for the input of the network. In the present study, we propose a novel method utilizing multiple ODFs and an RNN fusing these ODFs, together with several techniques in training the network and peak-picking. Our proposed method outperformed previous work by approximately 1% at the cost of a halved processing speed, serving as another option for trading-off between accuracy and speed. One of our future works is looking for other ODFs that can be both fast-calculating and beneficial to accuracy. © 2022 ACM.

The purpose of this study is to help small clubs from Italian serie A in finding the minimum targets to avoid relegation into serie B competition (below serie A league). Relegation will reduce the club's income from TV revenues and the decline of enthusiastic supporters. Based on the data from the final standings (seasons 2006 until 2018), this can be explained by the Decision Tree method using the C4.5 algorithm. The methods used in this study are data collection, data pre-processing, model proposal, model testing, and model validation. In this study, it is expected that the value of accuracy exceeds 85% to achieve a proper classification. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Quintuple-ring based erbium fiber laser with tunable single-frequency output in L-band bandwidth

In this article, we propose an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser with a quintuple-ring design to achieve single-longitudinal-mode (sLM) operation and stable and wide wavelength selectable over the L-band range. The mode-filtering effect produced by the quintuple-ring scheme can mitigate side-mode oscillations, enabling stable sLM output and extending the wavelength-tunable bandwidth from 1558.0 nm to 1620.0 nm (62 nm). The matching optical signal-to-noise ratio (OsNR), output power, optical and maximum output fluctuations in both power and wavelength are verified and discussed across the accessible wavelength output bandwidth. Furthermore, the proposed quintuple-ring configuration effectively narrows the laser linewidth to the sub-kHz target.
