We search for gravitational-wave (GW) transients associated with fast radio bursts (FRBs) detected by the Canadian Hydrogen Intensity Mapping Experiment Fast Radio Burst Project, during the first part of the third observing run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo (2019 April 1 15:00 UTC-2019 October 1 15:00 UTC). Triggers from 22 FRBs were analyzed with a search that targets both binary neutron star (BNS) and neutron star-black hole (NSBH) mergers. A targeted search for generic GW transients was conducted on 40 FRBs. We find no significant evidence for a GW association in either search. Given the large uncertainties in the distances of our FRB sample, we are unable to exclude the possibility of a GW association. Assessing the volumetric event rates of both FRB and binary mergers, an association is limited to 15% of the FRB population for BNS mergers or 1% for NSBH mergers. We report 90% confidence lower bounds on the distance to each FRB for a range of GW progenitor models and set upper limits on the energy emitted through GWs for a range of emission scenarios. We find values of order 10⁵¹-10⁵⁷ erg for models with central GW frequencies in the range 70-3560 Hz. At the sensitivity of this search, we find these limits to be above the predicted GW emissions for the models considered. We also find no significant coincident detection of GWs with the repeater, FRB 20200120E, which is the closest known extragalactic FRB. © 2023. The Author(s). The Pongkor post-mining area is designated as one of the ecotourism areas in Bogor. This area has biodiversity of flora and fauna. This study aims to: (1) analysis the importance value index (IVI) of flora types; (2) analysis species richness index, species diversity index, and relative species abundance index; (3) analysis the beauty, the uniqueness and the rarity of the flora and fauna types. The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive. Based on the identification results, 185 species of flora are distributed in this region. During the rainy season, 15 species of herpetofauna were identified, 32 types of aves, and 4 types of mammals, while in the dry season 19 species of herpetofauna were identified, 23 types of aves, and 2 types of mammals. Based on the results of the analysis conducted on these flora and fauna, there are flora species that have high IVI values and some beautiful and unique flora species that are in the category of endangered species. Besides that, there are also fauna species which have a value of species richness index, species diversity index, and relative species abundance index, as well as some beautiful, unique, and fauna species that are in the category of endangered species.

Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanorods were synthesized by using zinc acetate as a precursor via thermal decomposition method and then used to prepare [email protected] nanocomposite by facile room-temperature approach using a colloidal coagulation effect. The as prepared [email protected] nanocomposite was applied to modify the working electrode surface in an electrochemical sensor of Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ for the first time. The morphologies of ZnO and [email protected] nanocomposite were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, that exhibits the nanorod shape with an average diameter of 89 ± 18 nm, uniformly dispersed and intercalated between each G layer. Furthermore, the important factors affecting on the sensor sensitivity, including [email protected] ratio, [email protected] concentration, Bi 3+ concentration and electrochemical parameters were systematically investigated using square-wave anodic stripping voltammetry. Under the optimal conditions, a linear range was found to be 10–200 μg L −1 and the detection limits were 0.6 and 0.8 μg L -1 for Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ , respectively. Eventually, it was successfully used for the simultaneous detection of Cd 2+ and Pb 2+ in real wastewater samples and the results corresponded well with a standard inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of seasonality on the chemical composition of the essential oil from Hyptis dilatata leaves, to perform biological activity assays such as antimicrobial, inhibition of acetylcholinesterase enzyme and to evaluate the toxicity of the essential oil using Artemia salina as indicator on the test. Hyptis dilatata leaves were collected in rainy and dry seasons, in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. It was extracted by hydrodistillation using the extractor of Clevenger condenser double Spell model. The essential oil analysis resulted in 22 chemical components. The major constituents of the dry and rainy periods were a-pinene (18.7% in the night and 12.9% in the afternoon), 3-carene (26.5% and 19.9% in the night), fenchone (43% and 33.7% in the morning) and ß-caryophyllene 9.1% in the afternoon and 6.1% in the morning. The essential oil in vitro inhibited the acetylcholinesterase enzyme in 99.9% in the afternoon (rainy period) and 96.4% in the morning (dry period). Between the dry and rainy seasons, the lowest LC50 microbial activity in vitro was obtained for leaves collected during rainy season, in the morning period tested against the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus (LC50 78.1 mg mL-1). The cytotoxic activity of the essential oil of H. dilatata on Artemia salina showed LC50 results below 100 µg mL-1 and in the afternoon during the rainy period and at night in the dry period the results are above this value. Therefore, the chemical characterization and biological activities tests of essential oils showed promising results in the search for new active substances and the development of bioproducts of vegetable origin. Biological invasions threaten global biodiversity, human well-being and economies. Many regional and taxonomic syntheses of monetary costs have been produced recently but with important knowledge gaps owing to uneven geographic and taxonomic research intensity. Here we combine species distribution models, macroeconomic data and the InvaCost database to produce the highest resolution spatio-temporal cost estimates currently available to bridge these gaps. From a subset of 162 invasive species with 'highly reliable' documented costs at the national level, our interpolation focuses on countries that have not reported any costs despite the known presence of invasive species. This analysis demonstrates a substantial underestimation, with global costs potentially estimated to be 1,646% higher for these species than previously recorded. This discrepancy was uneven geographically and taxonomically, respectively peaking in Europe and for plants. Our results showed that damage costs were primarily driven by gross domestic product, human population size, agricultural area and environmental suitability, whereas management expenditure correlated with gross domestic product and agriculture areas. We also found a lag time for damage costs of 46 years, but management spending was not delayed. The methodological predictive approach of this study provides a more complete view of the economic dimensions of biological invasions and narrows the global disparity in invasion cost reporting.

Yield and color changes of starch from Cilacap breadfruit for producing breadfruit’s resistant starch type 3

Starch has been extracted from Cilacap breadfruit and breadfruit’s resistant starch types 3 (RS3) were made. Cilacap breadfruit starch was prepared for the production of resistant starch by autoclaving-cooling method at different temperatures (100 °C, 121 °C, 140 °C) and different storage times (24 hours, 48 hours) at a temperature of 4 °C. The incubation process was carried out on 0.1 M HCl and neutralized with 1 M NaOH after autoclaving-cooling. The yield of the produced resistant starch was then calculated, and the color changes were analyzed. Cold storage for 48 hours results in higher yields compared to cold storage for 24 hours at various temperatures in autoclaves (100 °C, 121 °C, 140 °C). Autoclaving at various temperatures (100 °C, 121 °C, 140 °C) and cooling for 48 hours resulted in a yield of 92.63%; 97.22% and 79.49%, respectively. Whereas, autoclaving at various temperatures (100 °C, 121 °C, 140 °C) and cooling for 24 hours, produced yields of 85.83%; 89.97% and 73.93%, respectively. Color measurement of resistant starch with different autoclaving-cooling shows significant results. Thus, it can be concluded that the production of Cilacap breadfruit RS3 with the different of autoclaving-cooling method has an effect on the yield and color changes of produced RS3. The highest yield was obtained in RS3 for autoclaving at 121 °C and cooling 48 hours, while the highest brightness was obtained in RS3 for autoclaving temperature of 100 °C and cooling 48 hours.
