Effectively harnessing feature correlations is crucial for optimal performance in video action recognition tasks, whether in spatial or temporal dimensions. Convolutional operations excel at capturing local features through correlations among nearby points, while self-attention mechanisms capture global information by enabling interactions among all feature points. However, the limitations of a single convolutional layer in comprehending holistic feature correlations and the tendency of self-attention layers to overlook local positional characteristics necessitate an innovative approach. We introduce the Spatial–Temporal Convolutional Attention Network, comprising the Spatial Convolutional Attention Network and the Temporal Convolutional Attention Network. This approach strategically combines the strengths of self-attention for global context and convolution for local features, mitigating the limitations of individual layers. Key innovations include [explicitly state innovations]. To reinforce the uniqueness of our approach, we provide specific comparisons with existing methods, highlighting its superiority. In rigorous experiments, our proposed network demonstrates enhanced recognition performance, quantified through metrics such as accuracy and F1 score improvements over baseline models. By effectively capturing feature correlations, our approach elevates the neural network's capacity for spatiotemporal modeling, marking a significant advancement in video action recognition. This paper proposes a measurement technique for an integrated complex filter. The proposed method is based on two measurement methods with integrated circuitry for calibration. It is accomplished by applying square waves to an FUT (Filter Under Test) instead of sinusoidal waves or by superposing transfer characteristics obtained by applying a single sinusoidal wave to an FUT. In both of the above methods, the output signal connected to the external measurement equipment via a 50 Ω coaxial cable and so on. In this case, the output signal of the FUT should be amplified by internal or external amplifiers, which degrades the response. However, it is cancelled out by the proposed calibration circuitry with some analog switches. In addition to the above, for the RC polyphase filter, the source resistance and the load capacitance degrade the measurement results and their effect is discussed. The validity of the proposal is confirmed through computer simulation for a third-order RCPF whose passband is 8–40 MHz fabricated by Phenitec 0.6 µm CMOS process. It is shown that the measurement error is −1.10 dB for the square-wave method and −1.00 dB and −0.43 degrees for the superposition method at 40 MHz. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Offsets Reconstruction Method for Clock Skew Measurement Over High-Jitter Communication

Measuring clock skew of devices over a network fully relies on the offsets, the differences between sending and receiving times. Offsets that shape a thick line are the most ideal one as their slope is directly the clock skew sought. When some outliers separate from the thick line due to higher delay jitter, current advanced approaches use the lower bound or the majority of offsets to derive accurate clock skew. However, outliers in offsets that shape parallel dotted lines, reduce the availability of offsets in the lower region, and scatter widely the offsets from their majority zone. These conditions drive the current skew estimation approaches to lose their accuracy. This paper then developed a new method, which reconstructs back the outliers into their origin positions, in order to provide ideal offsets for clock skew measurement. The experimental evaluations have demonstrated that the clock skew accuracy of dotted-lines offsets tampered by outliers was improved from 2.1 to 0.9 ppm by the proposed reconstruction method. For a broader purpose, the reconstruction method has been adjusted to be implemented also on non-dotted-lines offsets. The robustness of the proposed method for this case has also been exhibited by the very ideal reconstructed offsets that shape like a thick line. © The Author(s) 2025.

Antenna-on-Chip (AoC) is one of the most promising solutions in upcoming 6G era. However, AoC suffers from low gain usually due to the highly conductive silicon substrate in mainstream complementary-metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) processes. Artificial magnetic conductors (AMC) embedded within the stack-up of standard CMOS processes have been widely used to enhance the gain by isolating the AoC from the Si substrate and providing constructive reflection. Nonetheless, the ultra-thin stack-up of standard CMOS processes causes that only the AMC unit cells nearby the AoC can be illuminated well while the outermost part is illuminated poorly, which prevents the AMC from its optimal reflection performance. To mitigate the issue, this paper proposes a novel via-based magnetic coupling enhancement structures (H-CES- V) to improve the AMC illumination by coupling the energy from well-illuminated unit cells to outermost unit cells magnetically. Compared to conventional AMC, the gain can be improved by 1.5 dBi with the proposed structure. Finally, the proposed AMC-backed AoC with H-CES- V shows a boresight gain of 7 dBi (12 dBi better than a standalone AoC without AMC), and a radiation efficiency of 59 % at 94 GHz.

Dear Editor,Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex(PDHc) is a large multienzyme assembly(Mr = 4–10 million Daltons) consisting of three essential components: pyruvate dehydrogenase(E1p), dihydrolipoyl transacetylase(E2p), and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase(E3). These three enzymes perform distinct functions sequentially to catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate with formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH) and acetyl-coenzyme A(Patel and Roche, 1990).

Penghu Islands (Pescadores), Taiwan's outlying islands surrounded by the sea, boast rich fishing resources that attract many anglers. However, successful fishing requires more than just gear: it involves understanding the varying fish species available in different locations, times, and climates, as well as adhering to relevant laws and regulations. To address these needs, this paper proposes an environmentally friendly fishing Android-based mobile device App specifically for the Penghu Islands. The proposed Android-based mobile device App aims to gather essential information, including local fishing regulations, aquatic safety tips, and important precautions. Its goal is to equip fishermen with the resources necessary to fish successfully and with peace of mind.

Infertile patients may be a high-risk group of mental disorder. The precise identification of the mental status of infertile patients can provide decision support to healthcare professionals and may be helpful in providing preventive measures accordingly. Rare studies focused on the mental status identification using artificial intelligence (AI) models for infertile people. This study aimed to precisely identify the mental status (anxiety and depression) of infertile patients using three AI models, the XGBoost, decision tree, and stacking models. The dataset, retrieved from a structured questionnaire survey in 2011, which included 400 infertility outpatients seeking reproductive treatments at three teaching hospitals in Taiwan was adopted for training and testing AI models. Aforementioned AI models were designed and reached identification performances of accuracy, precision, recall and area under ROC curve (AUC) equaling 0.75–0.82, 0.70–0.80, 0.64–0.72, and 0.64–0.72, respectively. The XGBoost model (accuracy = 0.82, precision = 0.80, recall = 0.72, and AUC = 0.72) outperformed or equaled the decision tree and stacking models in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and AUC values. Designed AI models for mental status identification can be integrated into the clinical decision support system (CDSS) to provide the anxiety and depression group automatically. Accordingly, the worsening of infertility-related anxiety and depression can be prevented. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This study investigates the variables affecting travelers' decision to visit heritage destinations. Heritage tourism can draw visitors because of its historical, cultural, and aesthetic significance. More studies are still required to further understand the elements influencing travelers' decisions to engage in historical tourism. The object of this research is tourists who intend to visit heritage tourism in Indonesia. This study used a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires online to 100 respondents consisting of domestic and foreign tourists. They were then processed using SmartPLS. The study results show that five variables affect tourists' intentions to visit heritage tourism: Heritage Value (HV), Travel Intention (TI), Visitor Engagement (VE), Quality of Experience (QE), and Social Media Preference (SMP). All these variables positively influence tourist intentions to visit cultural heritage sites. This study concludes that the government and related parties significantly promote heritage sites by prioritizing historical, cultural, and aesthetic values. In addition, associated parties must also pay attention to other factors, such as service quality and travel costs which can affect tourists' intentions to visit heritage sites. In this case, social media can also be an effective means of promoting heritage sites to tourists.

This paper considers a cloud streaming game using WebRTC. Since the cloud streaming game consists of a server and a client, the network quality between them affects the game. Among the network quality degradation factors, we focus on delay jitter. We reduce the effect of the jitter by buffering. We conduct a subjective experiment of a single-player action game and evaluate application-level QoS and QoE. We investigate the impact of buffering on the video and audio quality of the user playing the game.
