5G technology is constrained by its higher frequency band and smaller coverage area, which leads to the need for operators to use technologies such as small cell base stations to increase the density of base station deployment to ensure signal coverage quality, which leads to more enormous construction costs. Therefore, it is urgent to find a safe and reliable solution that can use the existing public network to realize small cell base stations with automatic access. Based on this demand, we summarize various existing small cell base station automatic access technology solutions and their advantages and disadvantages while combing the characteristics of blockchain technology and its application solutions in similar scenarios. And then, we propose a new blockchain-based base station automatic access solution and implements the system in a practical scenario. In our solution, we innovatively introduce blockchain as an intermediate manager for small base stations and core networks, which solves traditional solutions requiring customized equipment while ensuring safety and reliability. It reduces costs and improves efficiency, but some problems are brought by the 'decentralization' of blockchain waiting to be solved. © 2021 IEEE.

This article introduces a novel method for efficiently and promptly operating protection relays within a power system, with a specific emphasis on adaptive overcurrent (OC) protection in a power grid. The approach utilizes SEL751 and SEL751A relays that communicate through the IEC-61850 GOOSE protocol, establishing connections using intelligent electronic devices (IED) at several locations in the system. The power system, consisting of transformers, bus bars, and feeders, employs protection relays to identify OC faults based on time and current parameters. Relay configurations are tested in a case study at the Omicron Lab involving a 138/25kV substation. The test encompasses various fault scenarios on the low-voltage (LV) and high-voltage (HV) sides, incorporating different current values and fault times, utilizing the chosen time-overcurrent U3 (very inverse) curve. The proposed approach exhibits the ability to promptly remove faults in transformers and substations at both the HV and the LV levels. Furthermore, the experimental results closely match the theoretical calculations, validating the effectiveness of the proposed approach in the protection of AC grids. Additionally, built-in cybersecurity measures in SEL relays ensure secure and reliable operation, mitigating the risks of cyber-related relay failures. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Machine Learning (ML) workflows are increasingly deployed on serverless computing platforms to benefit from their elasticity and fine-grain pricing. Proper resource allocation is crucial to achieve fast and cost-efficient execution of serverless ML workflows (specially for hyperparameter tuning and model training). Unfortunately, existing resource allocation methods are static, treat functions equally, and rely on offline prediction, which limit their efficiency. In this paper, we introduce CE-scaling – a Cost-Efficient autoscaling framework for serverless ML work-flows. During the hyperparameter tuning, CE-scaling partitions resources across stages according to their exact usage to minimize resource waste. Moreover, it incorporates an online prediction method to dynamically adjust resources during model training. We implement and evaluate CE-scaling on AWS Lambda using various ML models. Evaluation results show that compared to state-of-the-art static resource allocation methods, CE-scaling can reduce the job completion time and the monetary cost by up to 63% and 41% for hyperparameter tuning, respectively; and by up to 58% and 38% for model training.

The distributed computation of a Nash equilibrium (NE) for non-cooperative games is gaining increased attention recently. Due to the nature of distributed systems, privacy and communication efficiency are two critical concerns. Traditional approaches often address these critical concerns in isolation. This work introduces a unified framework, named CDP-NES, designed to improve communication efficiency in the privacy-preserving NE seeking algorithm for distributed non-cooperative games over directed graphs. Leveraging both general compression operators and the noise adding mechanism, CDP-NES perturbs local states with Laplacian noise and applies difference compression prior to their exchange among neighbors. We prove that CDP-NES not only achieves linear convergence to a neighborhood of the NE in games with restricted monotone mappings but also guarantees ϵdifferential privacy, addressing privacy and communication efficiency simultaneously. Finally, simulations are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2024, CC BY.

Facial expression editing has a wide range of applications, such as emotion detection, human-computer interaction, and social entertainment. However, existing expression editing methods either fail to allow for fine-grained editing, resulting in unnatural and unrealistic facial expressions, or generate artifacts and blurs, leading to poor image quality. In this paper, we propose a novel framework called StyleAU, which is based on StyleGAN and facial action units, to address these problems. Our framework leverages the pre-trained StyleGAN prior knowledge to enable action unit editing of the face in the StyleGAN latent space, allowing precise expression editing. In addition, we use an encoder to extract multi-scale content features to achieve high-fidelity image reconstruction. Our approach qualitatively and quantitatively outperforms competing methods for action unit manipulation and expression editing.

In the AECO (Architecture, engineering, Construction, and Operations) sector, addressing information silos for efficient building operation and maintenance is crucial. The Graph-based BIM (Building Information Modeling) supports information sharing and digital twin implementation but struggles to integrate operational data. The Brick ontology overcomes this by standardizing metadata for building assets and their relationships. However, errors in human-generated BIM models hinder widespread application. This paper introduces a novel BIM-to-Brick methodology that corrects IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) models, enabling the creation of high-quality Brick models from imperfect BIM ones. This method facilitates end-to-end digital twin creation with operational data integration, significantly reducing the effort by managing real-world BIM inaccuracies. Our case study confirms the method's effectiveness in generating compliant Brick models, showcasing its potential to improve information reusability and reduce information silos in construction. © 2024, The Authors. Hyperspectral images (HSIs) not only have a large number of spectral features, but also show a comprehensive spa-tial distribution of land cover and offer substantial advantages in the fine classification of ground materials. However, due to the high dimensionality and redundancy of HSIs and class imbalance in hyperspectral datasets, improving classification performance is still a huge challenge. Recently, graph-based learning algorithms are proven to be better classifiers for high dimensional data. Learning graph data and modeling spatial topological links be-tween features are significantly more accessible and more effective with graph-based deep learning, which has been demonstrated to be a promising approach. In the past few years, convolutional neu-ral networks (CNNs) and graph convolutional networks (GCNs) have achieved good results in HSI classification, but CNNs strug-gle to achieve good accuracy in low samples, while GCNs have a substantial computational cost. To resolve these issues, this paper proposes a feature fusion model using a 3D-CNN and hybrid-GAT named FFCHG. The algorithm consists of two elements: the 3D-CNN, which produces good classification for 3D HSI cube data, and GAT-based encoder and decoder modules that help in im-proving the classification accuracy of the 3D-CNN. Finally, the multiple features are merged with the help of two neural network models. Experiments on three public HSI datasets show that the proposed methods perform better than other state-of-the-art methods using the limited training samples and in low classifica-tion time with accuracy of more than 90% in all datasets and kappa with more than 91% for each dataset. © 2025 IEEE.

Humans rely increasingly on sensors to address grand challenges and to improve quality of life in the era of digitalization and big data. For ubiquitous sensing, flexible sensors are developed to overcome the limitations of conventional rigid counterparts. Despite rapid advancement in bench-side research over the last decade, the market adoption of flexible sensors remains limited. To ease and to expedite their deployment, here, we identify bottlenecks hindering the maturation of flexible sensors and propose promising solutions. We first analyze continued...challenges in achieving satisfactory sensing performance for real-world applications and then summarize issues in compatible sensor-biology interfaces, followed by brief discussions on powering and connecting sensor networks. Issues en route to commercialization and for sustainable growth of the sector are also analyzed, highlighting environmental concerns and emphasizing nontechnical issues such as business, regulatory, and ethical considerations. Additionally, we look at future intelligent flexible sensors. In proposing a comprehensive roadmap, we hope to steer research efforts towards common goals and to guide coordinated development strategies from disparate communities. Through such collaborative

As Industry 4.0 continues to advance, point cloud registration technology is extensively employed in scenarios such as collaborative defect detection in products and digital twin-assisted assembly. In this paper, we present an end-to-end point cloud registration model, GTPCR, which is based on the utilization of spatial structural information within point cloud data. GTPCR employs a point-wise approach, directly solving rigid rotations based on estimated correspondences without reliance on RANSAC. It conceives of the point cloud as a graph structure in three-dimensional space, encoding nodes across various dimensions. The encoding of an individual node is dictated by its position and centrality. The geometric associations between nodes are contingent on factors such as relative position, Euclidean distance, azimuth, and elevation. Edge feature encoding is dynamically acquired through the learning process from node features. All encodings are incorporated as trainable biases input to the model. In comparison to methods transitioning from local to global, GTPCR demonstrates superior efficiency and heightened scalability. Moreover, due to its adept network architecture design, GTPCR effortlessly expands its applicability to non-rigid registration. Empirical evidence undeniably illustrates GTPCR’s competitive advantage across numerous datasets. In particular, GTPCR shows significant improvements in registration recall of 1.4% and 0.9% over baselines on the 3DMatch and 3DLoMatch datasets, respectively.

With the substantial increase in image transmission,the demand for image security is ***-like images can be obtained by conventional encryption schemes,and although the security of the images can be guaranteed,the noise-like images cannot be directly previewed and *** on the rank-then-encipher method,some researchers have designed a three-pixel exact thumbnail preserving encryption(TPE2)scheme,which can be applied to balance the security and availability of images,but this scheme has low encryption *** this paper,we introduce an efficient exact thumbnail preserving encryption ***,blocking and bit-plane decomposition operations are performed on the plaintext *** zigzag scrambling model is used to change the bit positions in the lower four bit ***,an operation is devised to permute the higher four bit planes,which is an extended application of the hidden Markov ***,according to the difference in bit weights in each bit plane,a bit-level weighted diffusion rule is established to generate an encrypted image and still maintain the same sum of pixels within the *** results show that the proposed scheme improves the encryption efficiency and can guarantee the availability of images while protecting their privacy.
