The advent of laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)has provided an effective solution for fabricating lightweight structures with intricate designs that cannot be realized using other manufacturing *** structures,however,which feature unique characteristics,pose greater challenges in the LPBF process than solid structures and exhibit more significant *** underlying mechanisms and influencing factors of this distortion remain unclear,presenting a significant research *** study investigates the generation mechanism of residual stress in Ti-6Al-4V lattice structures during LPBF and examines how process and geometric parameters influence residual ***-type cantilever structures with various arm thicknesses and strut diameters were fabricated using different laser powers and scan *** residual distortion after removal from the building substrate was measured using a non-contact coordinate-measuring *** results suggest that increasing the arm thickness,reducing the strut diameter,and employing a scanning pattern with interlayer rotation effectively reduce residual *** these factors,the scanning pattern had the most distinct impact,differing significantly from those affecting solid structures.P2(45°)scanning pattern resulted in the greatest residual distortion,approximately twice that of the least distorted ***,the laser power exerted a minor influence on the distortion of the lattice *** findings provide insights and guidance for fabricating lattice structures using the LPBF process,broadening its applications in aerospace,automotive,and other weight-sensitive industries.

The supercritical carbon dioxide (SCO2) Brayton cycle has the characteristics of high power density and high thermal efficiency, which is an important development direction of the micro power plant. SCO2 turbine is the core component of the SCO2 Brayton cycle of which the dynamics have important influences on operational reliability of the entire system. With regard to the rotor of SCO2 turbine, the equations of motion is established by adopting finite element method. The complex eigenvalues of the rotor are solved in the state space, and the campbell diagram has been drawn to obtain the critical speeds. The steady state response of the rotor is obtained by the harmonic balance method, and the safety of the system is estimated based on API684. Results show that the rotor is not safe with its original geometric paramters. Aiming to improve the operational safety, an optimization method based on active learning is developed to maximize the separation margin. Results show that after the optimization, the separation margin has been greatly increased. Comparing with the genetic algorithm (GA) and the parttern search (PS) method, the iteration number of the active learning optimization method has been greatly reduced. The effectiveness of the developed optimization method is proved, and the study method and conclusions can serve as a reference to the optimization of SCO2 turbine rotors in the industry. Mechanism-based and data-based methods are widely used in fault detection of nuclear power plant. Each method has its advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, we propose weighted data-based fault detection method based on data which we called Implicit Model Approach (IMA) for nuclear power plant. By introducing weighted factor and Takagi-Sugeno modeling method, we extend the IMA-based fault detection from linear system to nonlinear system. At local operating point, linear IMA is utilized to generate sub-system residual function. Inspired by Parallel Distributed Control (PDC) method, we generate overall residual function and overall residual evaluation mechanism. Simulation analysis has verified the validity of the proposed algorithm. The significance of the weighted IMA lies in establishing a data-based and mechanism-friendly approach. This work can provide new route for fault detection of nonlinear nuclear power system. Copyright © 2022 by ASME.

A series of emission reduction measures were conducted in Wuhan,Central China,to ensure good air quality during the 7th Military World Games(MWG)in October *** better understand the implications for ozone(O_(3))pollution control strategies,we applied integrated analysis approaches based on the de-weathered statistical model,parameterization methods,chemical box model,and positive matrix factorization *** the MWG,concentrations of O_(3),NO_x,and volatile organic compound(VOCs),OFP(O_(3)formation potential),L_(OH)(OH radical loss rate)were 83μg/m^(3),43μg/m^(3),26 ppbv,188μg/m^(3),and 3.9 s^(-1),respectively,which were 26%,18%,3%,15%,and 13%lower than pre-MWG values and 6%,39%,30%,33%,and 50%lower than post-MWG values,*** removing meteorological influence,O_(3)and its precursors during the MWG decreased largely compared with post-MWG values,and only O_(3),NO_(2),and oxygenated VOCs(OVOCs)declined compared with pre-MWG values,which revealed the emission reduction measures during the MWG played an important role for O_(3)*** six VOCs sources,the mass contributions of biomass burning and solvents usage during the MWG decreased largely compared with pre-MWG values.O_(3)production was sensitive to VOCs and the key species were aromatics,OVOCs,and alkenes,which originated mainly from solvents usage,biomass burning,industrial-related combustion,and vehicle *** O_(3)concentration during the strict control was mainly caused by OVOCs reduction due to biomass burning ***,the O_(3)abatement strategies of Wuhan should be focused on the mitigation of high-reactivity VOCs.

Injury severity analysis of electric bike crashes in Changsha, Hunan Province: taking different lighting conditions into consideration

With the increasing use of electric bikes, electric bike crashes occur frequently. Analysing the influencing factors of electric bikecrashes is an effective way to reduce mortality and improve road safety. In this paper, spatial analysis is performed by geographicinformation system (GIS) to present the hot spots of electric bike crashes during daylight and darkness in Changsha, Hunan Province,China. Based on the Ordered Probit (OP) model, we studied the risk factors that led to different severities of electric bike *** results show that the main influencing variables include age, illegal behaviour, collision type and road factors. During daylightand darkness, elderly electric bike riders over the age of 65 years have a higher probability of fatal crashes. Not following trafficsignals and reverse driving are significantly related to the severity of riders’ injuries. In darkness, frontal collisions are significantfactors causing rider injury. In daylight, more serious crashes will be caused in bend and slope road segments. In darkness, roadswith no physically separated bicycle lanes increases the risk of riders being injured. Electric bike crashes are mainly concentratedin the commercial, public service and residential areas in the main urban area. In suburbs at darkness, electric bike riders are morelikely to be seriously injured. Adding protectionmeasures, such as improved lighting, non-motorized lane facilities and interventionstargeting illegal behaviour in the hot spot areas can effectively reduce the number of electric bike crashes in complex traffic.

Discontinuous phase diagram of amorphous carbons

The short-range order and medium-range order of amorphous carbons demonstrated in experiments allow us to rethink whether there exist intrinsic properties hidden by atomic disordering. Here we presented six representative phases of amorphous carbons（0.1–3.4 g/cm3）, namely, disordered graphene network（DGN）, high-density amorphous carbon（HDAC）, amorphous diaphite（a-DG）, amorphous diamond（a-D）, paracrystalline diamond（p-D）, and nano-polycrystalline diamond（NPD）, respectively, classified by their topological features and microstructural characterizations that are comparable with experiments. To achieve a comprehensive physical landscape for amorphous carbons, a phase diagram was plotted in the sp3/sp2versus density plane, in which the counterintuitive discontinuity originates from the inherent difference in topological microstructures, further guiding us to discover a variety of phase transitions among different amorphous carbons. Intriguingly, the power law, log（sp3/sp2） ∝ ρn, hints at intrinsic topology and hidden order in amorphous carbons, providing an insightful perspective to reacquaint atomic disorder in non-crystalline carbons.

Effect of Cral and Cr Coatings on the Fatigue Behavior of Zr4 Alloy: In-Situ Sem Study and Cpfem Analysis

The accident-tolerant fuel (ATF) coating, recognized as one of the most promising nuclear materials for short-term commercial application, still lacks a comprehensive understanding of its influence on the fatigue performance of the Zr4 substrate. In this study, the effects of representative ATF coatings (CrAl and Cr), produced via various methods, on the fatigue life and failure mechanisms of Zr4 alloy were investigated through 400 °C in-situ SEM testing and crystal plasticity finite element model (CPFEM). The results indicated that the CrAl coating reduced the fatigue life of Zr4 alloy, whereas both the magnetron sputtered (MS) Cr coating and the multi-arc ion plated (AIP) Cr coating notably extended it. Under cyclic loading, CrAl, MS Cr, and AIP Cr coatings showed distinct plastic deformation and cracking behaviors, with different mechanisms affecting the substrate's fatigue failure, resulting in varied impacts on the fatigue life of Zr4 alloy. In light of this, the present study innovatively categorized the fatigue life of the coated substrate into four stages: coating initiation life, coating propagation life, substrate initiation life, and substrate propagation life. The discussion focused on the influence of the coating on the fatigue life at different stages to elucidate its effect on the substrate's fatigue performance. The channel cracks resulting from brittle cracking in the CrAl coating accelerated the initiation of fatigue cracks in the interfacial region of the Zr4 substrate. However, the Cr coating effectively constrained the plastic deformation of the Zr4 substrate, and its superior ductility made the coating less prone to crack initiation. Moreover, a unified predictive model was established to assess the fatigue life of various coated substrates, based on CPFEM calculations. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Axial creep behavior of FeCrAl nuclear cladding tubes at a temperature of 600 °C

The impacts of axial creep behavior and alloy composition on the design of safe and effective FeCrAl nuclear fuel cladding tubes remain inadequately investigated. The present work addresses these issues by evaluating the axial creep behavior of FeCrAl nuclear fuel cladding tubes in air at a temperature of 600 °C. While the creep test results represent an expected steady state creep behavior under low applied stress, the tubes are mainly in a tertiary creep state at high stress levels. Therefore, the creep test results in the steady state creep stage are fit using a power-law creep constitutive model and the Kachanov-Rabotnov model is applied for the tertiary creep stage. Comparisons between the creep test results obtained for alloys with a variety of compositions and detailed microstructural analysis of the FeCrAl nuclear fuel cladding tube specimens demonstrate that composite Laves phase particles containing Mo, Nb, and Ta are key factors generally in improving the creep properties of Fe-based alloy cladding tube specimens because the composite particles effectively restrict the motion of dislocations. However, the existence of relatively coarse secondary phase particles contributes to the formation of voids via two distinct mechanisms. Therefore, the secondary phases generated during tube fabrication must be of uniform particle sizes and be uniformly dispersed within the alloy matrix to improve creep properties while minimizing void formation.

The evolution process of magnetic domains in response to external fields is crucial for the modern understanding and application of *** this study,we investigated the domain rotation in stripe domain films of varying thicknesses by examining their response to microwave excitation in four different *** resonance spectra indicate that the rotation field of stripe domain film under an applied magnetic field approaches the field where the resonance mode of sample *** saturation field of the stripe domain film corresponds to the field where the resonance mode disappears when measured in the stripe direction parallel to the microwave magnetic *** results are reproducible and consistent with micromagnetic simulations,providing additional approaches and techniques for comprehending the microscopic mechanisms of magnetic domains and characterizing their rotation.
