Trace amounts of copper have been reported to effectively promote peroxymonosulfate (PMS) induced degradation of several contaminants, while the underlying mechanism remains controversial in the transformation process of copper. Fluoroquinolone antibiotics (FQs) are a class of drugs applied to both humans and animals, widely used in animal husbandry, aquaculture and other farming industries since they have a wide antimicrobial spectrum and strong antimicrobial activity. However, FQs are not completely absorbed by receptors, and enter the environmental media through various pathways in the form of parent or metabolite. In this study, the existence of metallic copper promoted PMS induced FQs oxidation over a range of pH 5-9, and the promotion effect was highly related with copper-FQs complexation. Formation of highly reactive trivalent copper species (Cu3+) was proposed to be responsible for such promotion effect, which was further confirmed by quenching experiments, spectroscopic analyses and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) test. A stepwise copper reduction-oxidation mechanism was explored, herein Cu2+ was initially reduced to Cu+ with a relatively slow rate, which can be rapidly oxidize to Cu3+ by PMS. Results obtained in this study emphasize that the system undergoes the valence transition Cu2+/Cu+/Cu3+ rather than the free radical process. In particular, the promotion of copper in the system showed a significant positive correlation with the complexation ratio, further emphasizing the key role of the coordination of pollutants with Cu (II) in the oxidative transformation. © 2023, The Authors. Flat objects with negligible thicknesses like books and disks are challenging to be grasped by the robot because of the width limit of the robot's gripper, especially when they are in cluttered environments. Pre-grasp manipulation is conducive to rearranging objects on the table and moving the flat objects to the table edge, making them graspable. In this paper, we formulate this task as Parameterized Action Markov Decision Process, and a novel method based on deep reinforcement learning is proposed to address this problem by introducing sliding primitives as actions. A weight-sharing policy network is utilized to predict the sliding primitive's parameters for each object, and a Q-network is adopted to select the acted object among all the candidates on the table. Meanwhile, via integrating a curriculum learning scheme, our method can be scaled to cluttered environments with more objects. In both simulation and real-world experiments, our method surpasses the existing methods and achieves pre-grasp manipulation with higher task success rates and fewer action steps. Without fine-tuning, it can be generalized to novel shapes and household objects with more than 85% success rates in the real world. Neural Observer with Lyapunov Stability Guarantee for Uncertain Nonlinear systems

In this paper, we propose a novel nonlinear observer based on neural networks, called neural observer, for observation tasks of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems and uncertain nonlinear systems. In particular, the neural observer designed for uncertain systems is inspired by the active disturbance rejection control, which can measure the uncertainty in real-time. The stability analysis (e.g., exponential convergence rate) of LTI and uncertain nonlinear systems (involving neural observers) are presented and guaranteed, where it is shown that the observation problems can be solved only using the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Also, it is revealed that the observability and controllability of the system matrices are required to demonstrate the existence of solutions of LMIs. Finally, the effectiveness of neural observers is verified on three simulation cases, including the X-29A aircraft model, the nonlinear pendulum, and the four-wheel steering vehicle. A Tokenized Blockchain-Based Energy Eco-System Over Integrated Automated Market Makers

In a complex system of multiple entities coming together and transacting energy from various sources, incentivization and energy utilization are difficult to achieve due to inefficiencies in current mechanisms set up to generate, distribute, utilize, and manage energy within varying ecosystems. We provide a solution to this by proposing a tokenized blockchain-based renewable/non-renewable energy ecosystem built on Automated Market Makers with an underlying Constant Function *** this work, we proved the feasibility of achieving a more efficient means of trading, controlling, and managing energy from multiple RE/NRE energy sources using AMMs. In this approach, we remove the need for buyers and sellers’ influence in the energy market and provide an automated means of ensuring energy flow, pricing, and regulation without the need for third parties. We were able to maintain the decarbonization degree of the entire system through the deployment of the decarbonization mechanism at a cost of 584,213 Wei, proving a self-realizing decarbonization mechanism. We observed a cost of 1,255,219 Wei for both RE/NRE participants to engage the network, showing a faster means of transacting among energy parties. A cheaper cost of 2,497,561 Wei was achieved for setting up the network for trading, a cost of 2,500,666 Wei for rebalancing energy prices, and a cost of 1,836,918 Wei for the management of the entire network. Our results thus prove the ability of our proposed idea to ensure the effective generation, control, and distribution of energy across energy ecosystems. It also offers flexibility to address the complexity within energy ecosystems. Its incentivization mechanism ensures the continuous generation of rewards, ensuring the continuity of energy systems achieved by leveraging the transparency inherent in token mechanisms in blockchain technology. © 2024, The Authors. Mn modified ZSM-5 zeolites has attracted considerable attention in selective catalytic reduction of NOx emitted from flue gas of industry because of its excellent low-temperature catalytic activity. However, the inferior sulfur resistance and the uncertain state of the active sites have remained unresolved to date. Here, a novel catalyst coupling the adsorbent (Ce-doped TiO2) and Mn/HZSM-5 with distinct Mn loading in a tandem fashion was designed, which avoided the direct contact of SO2 with the Mn/HZSM-5 by preferentially trapping SO2 to form the sulfate on the surface of adsorbent due to the proximity in millimeter-scale, thereby significantly protecting the active Mn species in ZSM-5 from SO2 poisoning. As a result, the tandem fashion with the coupling of adsorbent and 20Mn/HZSM-5 in millimeter-scale proximity exhibit superior deNOx performance and excellent SO2 resistance. This study provides a promising approach for efficient deNOx in the presence of SO2 toward the green development goal. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

F-siamese tracker: A frustum-based double siamese network for 3D single object tracking

This paper presents F-Siamese Tracker, a novel approach for single object tracking prominently characterized by more robustly integrating 2D and 3D information to reduce redundant search space. A main challenge in 3D single object tracking is how to reduce search space for generating appropriate 3D candidates. Instead of solely relying on 3D proposals, firstly, our method leverages the Siamese network applied on RGB images to produce 2D region proposals which are then extruded into 3D viewing frustums. Besides, we perform an online accuracy validation on the 3D frustum to generate refined point cloud searching space, which can be embedded directly into the existing 3D tracking backbone. For efficiency, our approach gains better performance with fewer candidates by reducing search space. In addition, benefited from introducing the online accuracy validation, for occasional cases with strong occlusions or very sparse points, our approach can still achieve high precision, even when the 2D Siamese tracker loses the target. This approach allows us to set a new state-of-the-art in 3D single object tracking by a significant margin on a sparse outdoor dataset (KITTI tracking). One-shot face reenactment using appearance adaptive normalization

The paper proposes a novel generative adversarial network for one-shot face reenactment, which can animate a single face image to a different pose-and-expression (provided by a driving image) while keeping its original appearance. The core of our network is a novel mechanism called appearance adaptive normalization, which can effectively integrate the appearance information from the input image into our face generator by modulating the feature maps of the generator using the learned adaptive parameters. Furthermore, we specially design a local net to reenact the local facial components (i.e., eyes, nose and mouth) first, which is a much easier task for the network to learn and can in turn provide explicit anchors to guide our face generator to learn the global appearance and pose-and-expression. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments demonstrate the significant efficacy of our model compared with prior one-shot methods. © 2021, CC BY.

Renewable energy sources exhibit significant variability and uncertainty, showing numerous distinct scenarios. In the context of generation planning, it's imperative to employ scenario reduction techniques to select representative scenarios that capture the characteristics of renewable energy outputs. However, traditional scenario reduction methods often fail to adequately preserve the extreme output scenarios of these renewables. This paper improves the simultaneous backward reduction method (SBR), enhancing its capability to effectively capture the extreme output scenarios of renewable sources. As a result, the generation planning becomes more economically viable and more reliable. The efficacy of the improved SBR method is demonstrated using data from the Qinhuangdao region in China.

Sequence-to-Sequence Voice Reconstruction for Silent Speech in a Tonal Language

Silent Speech Decoding (SSD), based on articulatory neuromuscular activities, has become a prevalent task of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) in recent years. Many works have been devoted to decoding surface electromyography (sEMG) from articulatory neuromuscular activities. However, restoring silent speech in tonal languages such as Mandarin Chinese is still difficult. This paper proposes an optimized Sequence-to-Sequence (Seq2Seq) approach to synthesize voice from the sEMG-based silent speech. We extract duration information to regulate the sEMG-based silent speech using the audio length. Then, we provide a deep-learning model with an encoderdecoder structure and a state-of-art vocoder to generate the audio waveform. Experiments based on six Mandarin Chinese speakers demonstrate that the proposed model can successfully decode silent speech in Mandarin Chinese and achieve a character error rate (CER) of 6.41% on average with human evaluation.
